Congrats to McComb. They were the better team tonight. Always tough to see your kids hurting but the 'Jays had a pretty good year in getting to the regional finals again.

The only negative on the night, other than losing, was the smoke that enveloped the stadium for most of the game. Seriously??

I'm going to watch the "director's cut" with the alternate ending this year. ;)
I've often heard some of those alternate endings are pretty good. :)

Heck of a game to Boggs. McComb shut down Jettinghoff, while Jerry Brown made his case for POY against a tough DSJ defense. But, Boggs was under pressure from the McComb D-Line EVERY play and continued to convert third and longs. The one play boggled me, he literally scrambled for 8-10 seconds to eventually find no one open except #9 who took it all the way for a touchdown somehow. One thing I love about watching Delphos, is they aren't just good at running the ball in the trenches, all of their players fill lanes and get down field for blocks. Difference between the short 5 yard pass Boggs had, to the TD that came of it. Good game to both teams. "1-11"

Sooner or later, we all knew it was going to happen....losing to McComb or Leipsic.......but, there is no shame in that as both are quality top notch programs with great individuals....their coaches, players, and fans are high class and both teams would fit in well with any MAC school on our schedule.....I know they call the BVC the barely varsity conference, but that just isn't so....McComb will be a great representative at state......great win last night by the Panthers as you outplayed our Jays.....you are the better team.....good luck next week in the semis!!!!!!!!

I am actually a Liberty-Benton backer (as well as BVC), it's just refreshing to see a post like that. That is what HS athletics and sportsmanship is all about. LB has been fortunate to have a lot of BVC fans and students from other BVC schools in our cheering section throughout the playoffs. You just like to see that kind of thing.

TBH, the difference between MAC and BVC isn't that the MAC necessarily produces better teams in playoffs, but that those teams are playing 5-7 playoff quality teams throughout the regular season and they are ALWAYS better prepared for playoffs. Where as, McComb or Leipsic or even LB play 1, MAYBE 2 good teams throughout the year and sometimes these games are at the beginning of the season. It's hard to beat good teams when your last 5 games going into playoffs are wins by 50+. Luckily for McComb, they played Leipsic week 10.

Nobody will EVER confuse the two conference as the MAC is head and shoulders above any conference in the state of Ohio. But I see your point going through that deep gauntlet of the MAC is beneficial I don't care what anyone says. Last year when Leipsic played DSJ in the Regional Final they outplayed DSJ but DSJ was on a different level as fair as mental toughness it was just another tough hard hitting game for the Jays. Leipsic was inside the 20 2 or 3 times and came away with no points because they didn't need a "redzone offense" all year and didn't really have any experience going up against a tough redzone defense because almost every scoring play came from outside the redzone all year it was new territory for them in week 13 and ended up losing by a TD.

As I said anyway you look at it MAC has better players and teams but the BVC can compete with some of horses like 2 on down because no small school IMO in NW Ohio can compete with Coldwater I even think Coldwater would beat OG fairly easily. I would like to see BVC 1-3 VS MAC 2-4 because we have seen DSJ vs both Leipsic and McComb and those were 2 of the most enjoyable games I have watched in a LONG time. It'd be nice to see Leipsic, LB and McComb play a team not DSJ or ML. Like a Minster or St Henry or Versailles.

I think LB-DSJ would be a great game. LB beat LCC so you know they could compete. Be interesting to see how DSJ would play against a QB like Linhart because McComb and Leipsic both have very different styled QBs than Linhart.

I don't want to stir things up, but here is the pic of Brown's "touchdown" fumble

Posted Image

Its not in focus but clearly shows the ball hitting the pylon without a hand attached.

Ouch! What a great shot, though. That should have been a DSJ ball and a touchback....assuming the ball went out of bounds.

If that would have been called correctly, DSJ would have won. Oh well. Couldda, wouldda, shouldda.

The Jays will be back next year.

. Great picture. Great call linesman Kevin Mangus. Who wasn't even in the picture to make the call he made.

Did you say Kevin Mangas......no wonder the call went the way it did....I will not say another word, but Kevin 'Goose' Mangas has been involved with some very interesting calls over the years with DSJ......not just football......but, I still will not take away from McComb's victory.....they played better than the Jays, and still deserved the win.......just horrible to see that ball hitting the pylon with no one in possession!!!!!!!!
