Badlands,

Why don't you provide some details on the specific "help" that LCC received from Lima Senior? I
would be interested to hear some facts rather than the bulls**t you post on here. Believe me,the
T-Birds needed no help from Lima Senior to run the table in the NW Conference this year.

After you supply some facts to support your accusations, you can crawl back under your cow-pie.

Just like it was classy to say Washington is better though, right? In a sarcastic manner when no one was talking about that. And yeah, I believe he was. Unfortunately when you play in a system that has multiple running backs you don't get the yardage and carries that backs get when they are a teams feature back and get 90% of the carries. Likewise, when you play on a team that employs a balanced attack you also don't have the opportunity to put up the same kind of numbers as teams that are predominately rushing teams. In Washingtons case, he had both of those situations working against him. These all league things a lot of times come down to statistics. Well Washington missed nearly two games and finished with 900 yards. Pretty good stats given the system in which he plays. Also, he is a better athlete that Decker too, so referring back to previous posts, yes I would choose him over Decker, and that has nothing to do with bring from LCC and everything to do with the fact that I would want the best athletes I could get at each position.

That being said, Decker did deserve the honors of first team running back, as did Washington and Spencervilles Smith. And all three made the first team so that is great news! Also, Decker, between the numbers he put up and the record of his team, he did deserve Back of the Year and I'm not sure you could really make an argument for another skill player in the league this year.

Finally, to comment one last time on the Lima thing, it makes sense that Lima Central Catholics kids come from LIMA. Just as it makes sense Ada's come from Ada, Findlays come from Findlay and Van Burens come from Van Buren. When in my post I said only three actually came over "from the city" I was referring to the Lima City Schools and kids that came to LCC on the voucher program starting in the 9th grade. That is what I was assuming everyone's problems were with LCC, that they "recruit", unfairly get or any other thing you wish you accuse/say regarding LCC and their student body make up. I do know this, as a parent, if I had a kid in the City Schools, I would take them elsewhere and definitely consider LCC as an option for their academics. I would also venture to say most of you would be lying if you could honestly say you wouldn't do the same. The facts are all right in the numbers. In fact, I just saw a chart about 4 weeks ago compairing all of the local schools and the percentage at which they had students pass the different sections of the OGT on the first attempt. On all 5 sections of the test, LCC had somewhere between a 94-99%. Other good public schools where available too. Bluffton was anywhere between 90-96 in all categories I believe. Shawnee, another great choice, they were like 88-95. Lima City Schools you ask? I think their high was 75% and low was like 62%. What I'm getting at is how can you really get on LCC for having kids who want their child to succeed so their parent chooses to send them to LCC. That would be like me being upset because Shawnee had kids from LSH on their team or because Perry did. Personally I don't care that they are at those schools and participating in athletics like many of you clearly do. Unlike you I commend those parents for actually stepping up and caring about their children's future and education, especially in a world where it seems like that concept is because more and more rare. Like I said , whether its at LCC, Bluffton, or anywhere else, I would take my kid there too if I could. And just because my kid isn't attending school in the district in which he lives he doesn't have the right to participate in sports with his friends from the high school he attends? I think not! I think the life lessons and bonds learned from these sports are vital to the maturation of America's youth today. So next time you really want to complain about Lima Central Catholic, Elida, Perry, Shawnee, or anyone else who may be playing athletics with a kid living in the Lima school district, consider the alternative and what you would want for your kid if that was you facing those decisions!

Decker 1,500
Washington 900
There's no need to defend your boy. The running back by committe excuse is as old as the game. If washington was such a stud don't you think cooper would get him 90% of the carries? And missing 2 games, ok i can buy that but even if he would have played in those games he wouldn't have touched Decker's numbers.
It's obvious everyone that voted on it thought Decker was better. But what do they know.

Badlands, I don't need to "rip you a new one" you usually handle that by yourself pretty good. But with that being said, I've never been the mod that raises your warning bar, so I know my feelings are in good company.

Flounder,

I'll definitely be getting my groove on as basketball season is now on the horizon and you know I'll be
sure to keep NW Ohio aware of what my beloved Newark Wildcats are up to this season as I look forward
to another good season for my Wildcats. Also, you heard it here first, keep a close on the Newark Catholic
Green Wave in hoops this year, they should be a force in the small school division in 2012/2013 season.

As always, I'm following Newark Catholic in the football playoffs, not as strong as back in their glory
years when they were winning all those state titles, but they are making their 32nd appearance in the playoffs
which is a state record and have won 63 playoff games over the years which is also a state record ( 2 more than Iggy).
The Green Wave have made the final four in football playoffs 20 times and reached the State Championship game
13 times, winning 8 titles in the process. Lately they have taken a back seat to the MAC, but that Irish tradition is
pretty strong. Incidentally, they hear the same "recruiting" accusations every year in Newark that LCC hears in Lima.
It's almost like I still live in Newark. . . .same whining from the county schools about an unfair advantage etc etc.

Interestingly enough, the current Sports Editor of the Lima News, is the former Sports Editor for the Newark Advocate !

Back in the 80's the Licking County League voted Newark Catholic out of the league for the exact same reasons the NW
Conference wanted LCC out of the league. . . . they were dominating the league in nearly every sport although they were
the smallest school. Once they tossed the Green Wave out, the 10 team league ended up disbanding a few years later.
Now, believe it or not the old Licking County League, including Newark Catholic, has now reformed for 2013. The more
things change , the more they stay the same. I think booting LCC was one of the most stupid decisions I've heard in some
time. . . .the NW Conference just removed their strongest member and diluted the entire league, I guess they are content
to be a lesser conference. Now the champion for basketball, baseball, football, golf or whatever can make the claim of being
the "tallest midget". It's like the Big 10 tossing out Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Mich State
and having the remaining 6 teams contend for the football title every year and be declared Big 10 champ.
to be continued after I change to decaf. . . . . .

JB.......

I totally agree with your take on the NWC booting the tbirds......and have stated it many times, only to be ridiculed by the NWC faithful.....losing LCC will do nothing but harm the NWC, but only time will tell......

Great post JB and always glad to hear what is happening in Newark....I have always had the utmost respect for Newark Catholic, and can vividly remember Newark when they had Mike Giomi and made the trip to 'The Vatican'.....what a game that was!!!!!

Like I have said before and will say again. The NWC has been here since the 40's. We survived 60 years without LCC...and the NWC will be fine without LCC. LCC is the one that is going to have a hard time getting schedules for football. Weeks 4-10 are an awful lot of games to be filled each year.

On another note....I think it was a good move to have Jim Raabe as League Commissioner. He will do what the league schools want him to do. Unlike Mike Mullen who was an LCC puppet.....
