OK we all know that Bath will run away with the title, and that Celina and Shawnee will have to fight it out for runners up. How do the rest of the teams line up in what looks to be yet another down year for the girls night out gals.

Don't count your chickens too soon when it comes to counting out Celina. Bath lossed a few good athletes to graduation and not to mention the departure of Singhaus. Celina lossed one to graduation who was a starter. Everyone else is back. Also, I don't see any standout incoming freshman filling in the varsity roster like it has in years past. Saw them play as 8th graders and that class is weak. I know there is another Dakin coming in as a freshman but she is nothing talent-wise compared to her older sisters/cousins???

Bath will be good but Celina will be right there with them in the hunt for the WBL.

Unless there is another one coming up thru the ranks I believe the Dakin you are refering to will be a soph. this year. She played some varsity last year and held her own. She will fill in for Singhaus very nicely. There's also a girl named Bri I think ( Sorry I'm not good with names ) that is a nice ball player as long as she doesn't let the defenses push her around.

Baths outside game should be better this year and the defenses won't be able to key in on just one 3 point threat. If the undergrads don't try to be heroes and they listen to the senior veterans, this team could be better than last years.
Did Baths JV's go undefeated last year?

Biggest loss from last years squad is J. Johns defensive.

And yes, Celina will be very good and give them a run for the money.

I see Bath and Celina in a race to the end with Bath winning at the tape. I think OG and Wapak will be competitive and could challenge for 3rd and 4th spots. Shawnee and Van Wert look to be in the next two spots if the young kids at Van Wert can be every night contributors. St. Marys, Kenton, Defiance should finish in the 7-9 spots...Elida gets to finish last.

If OG challenges for third it is definitely going to be a down year for the WBL.

I would not place Bath at the top just yet....Elida played them tough and little New Knoxville beat them in their own tournament....Mauk is probably wondering why he let New knoxville in this year....lol....he will have to replace DSJ next season!!!!!

They have some injuries, but they also don't shoot very well. The players have to shoot in the off season, on their own time, to expect to have any consistancy.

Weird weekend. Bath and Celina DON'T win their own tournaments. Elida pushes Bath to the limit then beats DSJ. VW gets hammered by Ottoville, who had to struggle to beat a young bunch of Crestview Knights a day later.

We did learn that it is gonna be a llllllllllllllloooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggggggg year in Defiance.

It's been a looooooonnnnnnggggg couples o' years for the Defiance girls basketball program. They have had maybe one talented player in Dee Dee Hillman a few years back. But she was just a pure athlete and they were still an average team back then.

Don't expect Celina to be at full strength the next few weeks. Their starting center will be out 4-6 weeks. She got a few perminent teeth knocked out in a scrimmage.

Versailles will be a team to reckon with after a mild season last year. They have decent guards to compliment their center (Heckman). They also have a deep bench.

Elida seems to be better however this is on of the weakest Delphos St Johns teams in years. Elida has a favorable schedule the first few weeks of the season. They have Columbus Grove , Spencerville and Defiance the next three games all of which should fall in line for the lady dawgs. It is gonna take time if people will allow it to.

Celina may not be full strenght but they are deep enough that they will keep on rolling. Losing one starter is not that big of a deal when you have that much talent. If Celina plays Bath before the Bath starters return, it could be a WBL undefeated season for Celina.

With their senior being out that means only the 5 starting seniors have varsity experience. Don't get me wrong it is a very experienced bunch. But beyond those seniors no other players have had quality varsity experience. Not to mention the talent drops extremely in their junior and sophomore classes. However, the addition of freshman guard Heather Heiby (Hillary's younger sister) will provide some depth. They just can't get in foul trouble.

Having 4 senior starters still gives you an experience edge over 99% of teams.

Maybe so, but what happens when one gets in foul trouble? They don't have someone that can come off the bench and be a proven scorer or role player. At least it hasn't been proven yet so I will wait a couple games to see if someone can prove me wrong.
