Seneca East will be traveling to Tiffin this coming week to face Calvert. SE will need a win here to have any hope of sneaking back in the playoff race. I believe they sit at #12 right now in a very competitive region 18

Do us all a favor and take them out.

As a bit of...well...unfortunate news for R18 contenders, Oberlin is 4-0 currently after going 2-8 last year. The other unfortunate part is they play a lot of larger division teams that look like winnable games for them this year, so they are also now a contender in the dozen or so team race to make it in.
This is true, but 8 of the teams on Oberlin's schedule have a current combined record of 4-27.

As of now. With that said, they will play each other in conference play and be forced to accrue 2nd level points for each win Oberlin gets and almost their entire schedule is D3 and D4 teams...mostly bad teams, but big points none the less.

Bucki.... I understand how second tier points work. The main point is that 3 of the teams they have beaten are not in the Patriot Conference. The Patriot Conference (I believe) spans three counties, made up of 12 teams, and is split into two divisions (the Stars and Stripes). So they only have 5 true division games and the other two are cross over games, and considering Oberlin was 2-8 last year and 0-10 the year before, I would think the cross over games are against bad teams. They could end up with 5 or 6 VERY bad teams on their schedule, no matter how big they are. Just saying........

I didn't realize their conference was that cut up, so thanks for the info. They still net good points(better than most of the others vying to get in) since the bad teams they play also play some poor teams as well that are larger division teams. I'm figuring they lose to Columbia Station and Clearview, but I think they might be able to pull off the rest and go 8-2...MAYBE...which makes them at least a contender for one of the open spots.

So if they get in that makes them cannon fodder for whom ever they play. This seams to happen every year with some team.

I'm telling you NW is much better then you give them credit for. They would throttle Oberlin, DJ, or most others fighting for the 7th/8th spot.

I'll believe it when they prove it. They get blasted every year and didn't look that good last year. As of now, they just keep beating up on terrible teams in their regular season play.

I think this Northwood team is probably by far the best TAAC team, ever. It appears to have crushed a Hopewell-Loudon team that is usually good and Lake is usually decent as well. I'm not saying it's a threat to win the region but it should put up a good fight in the playoffs this year and not get destroyed.

Isn't Northwood the team that always complained about having to play PH in the playoffs instead of a BVC team like Liberty Benton?

Northwood has the best TAAC team ever just about every year, yet they still get creamed in the 1st round of every playoff game they play. I guess we will have to see how they fare I suppose, but I'm just not seeing it. Loudon isn't exactly a powerhouse this year and Lake is "meh" at best based on the results I have seen.

I have to agree with jeffcat. On paper they should be a lot stronger than last year with much of their team returning. But how can you tell when you play in the TAAC!! An average H-L team had them down 7-0 at half and the wheels fell off with turnovers opening the door for Northwood. I just don;t see them competive with the top teams in Region 18. And they should be carefull what they wish for because IMO an L-B team would have their way with them.

bold prediction, but Van Buren and LB will both be 7-2 going into their week 10 game against each other, winner takes the 8 seed

I'm sorry but Northwood will never get the number 1 seed, not in the league they play in. Which is also why they have struggled in the playoffs. That being said, they have a very nice team this year. Very nice. But, their conference does not prepare them for the playoffs. That is their only problem. Maybe we can trade Montpelier for Northwood?? Na that won't happen...

They have won the #1 seed before...either way, I'm not claiming they will as it will more than likely be Patrick Henry. I'm not going to bash their conference for their struggles in the playoffs, but they just are not a good enough team to compete in R18...and few teams are. It really is nothing to be ashamed of, it's just stating the matter of past results and making the comparison against the quality teams that make up R18. Northwood has consistent success and a solid team almost year in and year out, but it's a different monster in R18.

I'll be the first to admit I know absolutely nothing about Van Buren, but how good is this Van Buren team? I was bit surprised that they kept the score close with Leipsic.

not many options on offense after losing their running back, but he will be back soon so that will help. solid defense though! leipsic is still averaging 490 yards a game even after VB held them to 270

Some nice athletes for VB. Zero passing game though. and probably the poorest effort by a Leipsic team in several years. At best VB will be a 6-4 team.
