That's my point. 31 or 34 that 's acceptable in small school football. To field a team and lose....that's one thing, but to dress 15-16 players like Vanlue does every year and now the HN folks have even said there were only 16-18 kids that initially signed up for football thats the problem. I've seen it in the NWOAL. Montpelier and Swanton have gone winless against everybody except when they play each other. But they always have 30-35 boys in uniform on a Friday night and there is never a discussion on whether they will have a team ready.

That's not the case in the BVC. What will it take to say a program is over? It's one thing to be bad, but it's another when you cannpot even field a team. There was an earlier posted who was right on when he said the BVC may only have 5 JV teams for 2012. That is horrible and it's not fair for any of the teams in the league yet soenm of these same schools will not support expansion

It's comforting to know that the current BVC has about five "sisters of the poor" schools. Way to show your true colors there, son. Is it any wonder why folks around the league think so highly of your school?

Roar,
Are you telling me people around the league dislike LB? Or are they simply just jealous? Some schools that are currently in the BVC should not be in our conference due to their athletic records. It makes our confrence look weak compared to others.

Well it wasn't so much HN's numbers that were impressive when they won state, more so than the percentage of the boys in their school that was on the football team while being small. Most schools of their size, at that time, didn't even field football.

So many reasons a HS Football team and program can be low on numbers and weak. Hardin Northern, PG and Vanlue just don't have numbers to field a competitive team...usually. They have had years with a good group of dedicated kids but its getting tougher. Then you have teams like Van Buren who have 4 fall sports with a ton of kids playing each and this really thins out the talent. You look at the usual solid football teams like McComb, Arlington and Leipsic.....these teams just don't offer a wide range of fall sports and never will because football has always been the main sport in the fall.

Bvcpclmal.... school starts around 8:30 in the morning, I'd suggest that you start with alittle history!

There was a time in this league that LB was the door mat! Nobody wanted them out because they "made the league look weak". All schools in any league have issues from time to time, LB will be no different. Enjoy your time at the top! There will come a time when it will end!

Sorry to say but, LB will never be at or near the bottom ever again. As long as they keep growing and may have two, three, four or five times the amount of students as most other schools in the league they will be fine.

Then please explain Paulding to us. A few poor choices in coaching positions when retirements or resignations occur, unmotivated classes of kids, or a large group of panzy-arse parents can send any school into a downward spiral.

Paulding is a D4 in a D5/6 league. Not working out too well for them.

Bryan and Wauseon are D3's in a mostly D4/5(and one D6) league. They're usually OK, but 2 of the D5's are the dominant schools.

And while this isn't nearly as good of an example since all 10 schools are big enough to support football, for many years Wapak and Celina as D2's were mediocre and usually worse in the WBL while 3 D3's(Defiance, Shawnee, St. Marys) and 2 D4's(Kenton, O-G) fought it out every year for the league title.

Just because the school is bigger doesn't mean they're guaranteed to win. Bad coaching, lack of interest, or just a few bad classes is all it takes.

LB stopped growing years ago. Like most schools in this area, they have actually declined in student population. Not as much as some others, but declining nevertheless. I'm not sure about some of the classes coming up, but it seems like the boys population peeked a few years ago about 165 and has plateau'ed or declined every since.

Not working out very well in Football. VB has never been a good football school for some reason. I think VB having 60 kids playing other sports besides football in the fall makes it tough plus they have never really got the program going in the right direction.

And quite a few other sports as well. Considering how BIG they are.

Midgets should never be used as a reference to why a High School team wins or loses. It helps a little with fundamentals, but the bodies of the young men have a lot of changing before they get to HS, and you never which direction they'll go.

Yep....they, or their parents may decide to play soccer.....or nothing at all.

I know of a school who had 14 eighth graders on a 6-1 Jr. high team and now those boys are seniors and there are 4 players left playing football.

Sling... so.don't you think that if LB and VB are similar in size and offer the same amount of fall sports there might just be a chance that football at LB will / could fall at some point?

Some serious ##### envy in this topic. Fill in what you want. Bring in anyone who want in and kick out the schools who cant provide REAL teams in football.
