I don't see where travel is all that big of deal...not everyone will play each other and it's every other year...I am a big fan of mixing it up a little and seeing new and different competition. I think it makes for better competition in post season play.

Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

Umm....Polk...there are more sports than just football. Schools would play each other EVERY year in girls' and boys' basketball, stickball, track, cross country, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, golf, etc. Football would be the ONLY sport where not everyone plays each other.

Basically, travel is not the biggest issue, but it can be costly for busses and lack of a decent crowd...which equates to a lack of money.

Post-
TC and NB wouldn't necessarily warrant a "yes" vote out of me either....but, you asked what would they bring to the league.

First of all, they could at least help bail out the league if HN or Vanlue fails to produce a football team, or jumps ship to the NWCC.

I think that the addition of ANY schools would allow the league to get more creative with football scheduling...meaning that having 2 divisions allows for 2 schools to gain a mythical "championship" (for what that's worth), but even bigger, is the ability to pick up extra non-conference games. That becomes a potential gold mine for second-round computer points for the league members to gain when facing each other in BVC games...providing the BVC schools win a good percentage of their non-conference games.

Actually, not the strongest reasons to support going after those two teams, but I tried. Other than that, I'd MUCH rather go the route of luring schools like Riverdale (best natural fit, but not as competitive as in the past), Carey, Bluffton, and Ada...all excellent choices, IMO.

Could you imagine the BVC track meet with that grouping of schools???....You'd see competition better than most district meets, and possibly on the level rivaling a regional track meet.

Post....I kind of agree with you on NB but I think TC would be a fine add. We play them every year in basketball and they bring a decent amount of fans. They bring more than half the BVC teams do. They are decent in most sports and if you don't want to drive to Tiffin then don't go. Heck we traveled to Toledo twice last year for boys basketball and it wasnt an issue.
I know you mentioned Riverdale, Bluffton, Ada and Carey. My school only plays Carey in a couple of sports and dont play Riverdale, Ada or Bluffton in anything so from north to south things vary quite a bit on who plays who.

from what I understand Arlington hasn't said yes or no. They want some clear answers to some legit question that are concerns that need to be answered. Also I heard that Ada is ready to commit to the BVC.

I could see ADA a sure thing and with a new school going up at North Baltimore that being a plus for them but Calvert and Hopewell that is probably ,and this is just speculation as to why maybe some of your western schools such as Leipsic would be against this expansion as far as travel time goes.

Not sure where you're getting your info, but Leipsic is not against expansion, even if it occurs East of Findlay. In fact tLeipsic was heavily involved with the intial proposal to expand. Quality schools are the key.

The smart move would be to add HL and Ada and kick out some of the schools who are not as equipped to be in the BVC like Hardin Northern and Vanlue.

And what happens when the bottom falls out at places like PG, Arcadia, or C-R? Kick them out too? CR is nearing the same boat as HN and Vanlue when it comes to numbers out for football.

Who cares about what happens to them? My LB boys need to have some tough competition not some sister of the poor team.

funny. HN has had 4 bad years after 25+ great ones and people want to boot them out. Hope they return to the success they had but who knows. Does anyone remember how many players HN had in 2002 and 2004 when they went to state? I know one of those years it was 28. Just had all the pieces they needed. At one time I remember HN having 40+ boys. Also had a good track team for a number of years along with volleyball and basketball. I guess you never know.

It's comforting to know that the current BVC has about five "sisters of the poor" schools. Way to show your true colors there, son. Is it any wonder why folks around the league think so highly of your school?

Lol! I remember when LB WAS the "sisters of the poor"! And it wasn't that long ago! I'm not so sure the Lue didn't schedule them for homecoming back then.

Its small school football. Everyone has ups (almost :)) and downs, If we are to throw schools out for being successful.... CR wouldn't have made it much past 1980, , Arlington and VB would have been gone by 1992 We could have thrown McComb out at any year since about 1980 and HN would have been tossed out some where in the mid 2000"s. If we throw them out for being crappy.... The Lue doesnt even show up in the record books, Arcadia, PG, Leipsic, HN make it for about the first 10 years, CR would have been tossed for their loosing ways from about 1987- the late 90's, LB is given the boot in 1980 thru the 1990's, VB is out from 1995- Present. Arlington... Well Arlington should have been given some brown paper bags and been shown the door straight out of Dola the night we posted 71 on them in 1991!

Ouch :pokey: . Was just talking about that the other day with one of the seniors from your team down there. It just amazes me how we turned around and beat you the next year. Just think how that score could be reversed pretty soon if Arlington wanted to and, well, if HN has a team :punk:
Have to love a good rivalry!

I believe HN had 31 players in uniform for the state championship game when they won it all in 2004.

actually Ericles I believe it was 2002. There were a few that were deemed ineligible prior to the game.

I think around there. I've heard somewhere between 31-34 boys when they were there.
