Is the job opening even being advertised? What is the normal process of finding a new High School Coach?

I'm sure like most other schools, there is a policy that states the job has to be posted internally for so many days. Every school differs on number of days. Also, many teacher's unions/organizations have written policy that if there is a qualified applicant inside, he or she would be 1st in line for whatever position it is not only coaching jobs, but any position. The key word here is qualified & who decides if the applicants are indeed qualified? I think this policy exists at OG as the 2 applicants for the boys basketball job were both internal & I don't think that job opening was ever posted outside.
I have heard speculation of 1 internal applicant? Anyone know for sure? Any outside interest besides again the speculation of some parents?

Will 'The Posse' be included on all interviews......also, will they have the final say in making the decision on OG's next coach.....seems only fair that such a knowledgeable group should be included!!!!!

Flound,
as of right now THE posse is not being included in the preliminary talks..........my wife was in the Ottawa Walmart this past weekend and overheard
one of the names mentioned for the job.........I believe that his name is Yant....currently a teacher and also a coach in the OG system......

I think that this one is pretty much a done deal...........the superintendent is satisfied that the Power Point presentation has succeeded in it's intent........I've
heard that there are a few copies that will be available for distribution to other parent groups looking to get rid of their coaches also.........I guess we're now on
to finding out who the next PG girls, Continental boys, and others will be ............RM

The boy's job would never be satisfied with someone with limited qualifications just because they teach at the school....specially someone that has limited Experience coaching Girls Basketball....it seems like a double standard? If a coaching applicant is qualified then that is fine....if they are not, they shouldn't be given the job. I would hope who ever is in line for the job would have at least JV experience.....or in an ideal situation with Varsity experience at a smaller school

So many variable go into selecting a coach. I do feel it's important for the coach to be in the school on a daily basis. I feel it keeps the kids accountable during the school day. Outside coach's don't see how kids interact with other students, teachers and how they behave during the school day. I'm not sure JV or varsity coaching experience is critical in the decision.

If not, they should be. I believe they all have coaching experience and know what they are talking about.
I'm just glad this coach was run off long before my girls got up to that level.

I would certainly hope the OG administration would be smart enough not to include those people in the interview process unless they are interviewing videographers!

I have seen these girls play and there would be only one that might make it to a D2 college. Which would be a great accomplishment because it is about the education and not about going "pro".
The posses first question would have to be; Do you own a D1 college and will my daughter have an automatic scholarship to it?

This was just sent to me by a RC member from the Defiance area............though the OG Posse is not named per se,
it really makes you think............RM

and while it is not a Power Point presentation the storyline is well-laid out

Vicky,
If you know them that well then you are probably one of them or a wanna-a-be. Either way you truely are an Idiot!!!!!!!!
I do not agree with all aspects of the way Smith coached, but, I would never get rid of the winningest coach in school history. It will take a long time for OG to find a coach that can take that program to where it once was. By then the posse will be long gone.

I hope Mr. Yant gets the job. He would certailny not tolerate 3 more years of crap from the "Parent Posse"....I doubt if they would know more han he does......in reality, not in their own minds! If he does. I hope he does very well....however, it will be very tough to root for the team...if that makes sense....

Well done by Mr. Kleck. He is one of the best around and rarely do you ever hear him criticize anyone or anything, and he didn't mention any names in this commentary.

How sure is he that the parents/players did not consult the coach first?
Who, if anyone did he talk to regarding the coaches performance?
