a friend of mine overheard a few OG people talking at the Sectional final when LCC and OG played last week..They were saying how the LCC girls team looks nothing like the LCC boys team..

For their future husbands' sakes if nothing else, I would certainly hope not. :P

Shouldn't moderators be a bit more responsible in posting? All of you with recruitment mentality......prove what you say and take it to the OHSAA or just stop it. It's ignorant and very tiring. I mean they even tried to accuse them of recruiting Jr. Miss contestants a few years ago. Learn a new song.
Private schools recruit regular students all the time, it's what keeps their doors open. Not sure why its different when sports are involved. If a kid goes to a school becasue they have a great band or music program, no one cares.

With you Common Sense, but I care, love a great band or music! Great point!

I don't think LCC would be too eager to bring coach Krieg form Spencerville in. They may look outside the girls program for a coach and if hired she would bring her LCC groupies in with her.

Lol. That's funny, if only because of the ignorance it's dripping with.

If you try and bring Spencerville's coach to LCC she would assumably bring the same assistants. Do they want all that young LCC blood coaching there? That's the point I was trying to get across.

I get your point, but it doesn't hold much weight imo. If a coach can coach, then the age doesn't matter. She knows her stuff, is an alum, has DI experience, and has transformed Spencerville from doormat to being competitive. As for the staff, you'd be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable sports family than the Kriegs, from the old man on down, lol.

I have no idea if she has any interest in the job, but her and her staff would do just fine. She just took Spencerville to their first district in nearly ten years by beating two teams with superior talent.

Krieg is a solid coach and has done wonders for Spencerville Girls. She's a teacher, although I'm not quite sure where at. It might or might not play into a decision.

The JV coach, Pitson I think?, could be a candidate. The last few years the JV team has gotten better and better. They have always seemed to be well coached under her.

But sometimes it's better to go outside 'the family' so to speak in finding a coach. As people know, the politics of high school sports' parents can play a role in things. If you get someone new to the school, they often don't have a pre-disposition towards or against people.

Thanks, Slice.

24 years compiled 12-13 wins a year, no NWC titles that I remember and few, if any, long tournament runs. Look for LCC to start ramping up the recruiting on the girls basketball side of things once they bring in a new coach. Is LCC alum and Spencerville's current coach Kreig a candidate?

This is just an assanine comment about private school recruiting. Get a clue in life.

Just wondering, How many people were trying to convince the Maag girl, that plays volleyball and basketball at pandora, to go to school at OG? Just asking, because you would be a hypocrite if you told me it didn't happen there.

That's a good hire. She's done a really nice job with Spencerville the last two years.

TBH, this wasn't much of a surprise, at least not around here. I think the general consensus was that she never intended for Spencerville to be long term. As soon as something "better" opened up, it was felt that she wouldn't be able to get out fast enough. Hopefully, we can get someone that wants to make Spencerville their basketball career choice.

I'm not going to say much, but that's just not true. There's only one job Katie would have considered leaving for. She graduated from LCC and lives a mile from the school. But leaving the girls at Spencerville was really tough for her. Those girls were a coach's dream as they really worked hard for her and couldn't have been nicer girls. I'm sure Katie will be Spencerville's biggest fan for 21 of their 22 games next year.

I agree that LCC was the only job she would leave for. When the LCC job opened I immediately thought she might leave. I can Not blame her, and wish her the best!

Maybe they were looking for someone with head coaching experience. Running a program and coaching jv are two totally different things, but who knows.

I heard differently and at various levels, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

LOL. That's fine, as you're certaintly entitled to your opinion, but if you knew who I was then you'd realize that my source is much more accurate than whoever you heard things from.

LIke I said, it wasn't any big surprise that she left. I live in the community and know what I had heard from others. Perhaps she had different intentions, but I rarely heard from anyone that they felt she would stick around for very long.
