If someone has evidence that the coach has done something illegal then she should be fired. If they have no evidence of that then she should be evaluated by the team performance. Parents opinions of a coach should not be factored in. I just have a problem with people dismissing other people's thoughts.

How am I hiding behind my Name lol??? My name on here is my real name lol

Illegal? All this talk about her doing something wrong but I still have yet to see someone post what she did that was so bad or 'illegal' other than use a few choice words... Which if that's all this is about then I'm thinking some of these D1 girls are in for a rude awakening at that next level

here's what I'm thinking........

IF some of these allegations are true......say cussing out the players, pulling their jersey, etc.......
IF another coach would do the exact same thing, say the football, boys basketball, wrestling, or any other
sport........Would that be cause for immediate dismissal also?

or is this all because of "W's" and "L's?"........or is it because that "so-called posse" that someone mentioned earlier in
the thread just want more control?.........for someone not close to the girls program, I have to ask the question then:

Is the talent that is currently on the team good enough to win WBL titles, district championships, and beyond?......are the
expectations out of whack with reality?..........RM

Heard today that she's out.....she had the players vote and is standing by their decision. Wonder how many players actually voted...and how many votes were cast by their parents

'Sheen,
let me get this right:

the coach asked the girls if they wanted her to return as coach of the team?.........and the players voted NO?
somehow I find that either particularly amusing or simply dumb.......I'm not saying that she hasn't resigned but
this set of circumstances is kinda crazy, don't you think?..........

whatever, if she is gone she's probably much happier now........I can't imagine having a dull knife twisted repeatedly
in your back felt good.........may the next coach be thick-skinned and friends of the posse..........RM

Zoomer.....You hit the nail on the head. From what I've heard, that's exactly the case. I think she truly wanted to gauge whether or not the girls truly wanted her gone.....and is standing by that decision.....though I'm fairly certain that the "vote" was more what the parents wanted than what the girls wanted. The players I know really don't seem to have ever had much of an issue with her....but obviously their parents do. I'm sure she didn't want to go, but I've got to think she just got tired of fighting the parents over who was going to control what their kids do or don't do with regard to basketball. I really hope the parents are happy....I have a hard time believing that they are going to get someone as dedicated as Lori to take her spot. Who in their right mind would want to step into a position where the parents obviously have convinced their girls that they know more than their coach?

To top it off, some of the older girls are considering not returning next year. The drama regarding the younger kids, their parents and Coach Smith has just become too much to handle. The parents of the younger girls who seem to feel their kids are ready for varsity are going to get to find out real quick......lol

Sounds like to me someone who is real close to the situation,(I mean real close) Is stirring the pot with the parents and wants the position.Could be one of her staff or middle school coaches.

NO. The games that I saw ,there is not one girl on the team at this time a D 1 or a D 2 or D 3 college player. And they will not win WBL. Bath will win the leauge the next 3 years.

It will be interesting if in fact this jr high coach or ASSistant gets the job. Anyone that has been a Varsity coach knows it's much more than just X's and O's when you're the Head of the Program. This almost reminds me of Riverdale HS, when they were going through coach after coach because parents were causing problem after problem. If I were hiring a new coach, I wouldn't want this so-called coach anywhere near the program in a coaching capacity. To get what you want by under-mining the program, that's who you want to lead?

Landass, soccer, etc have been saying things about the current/former coach and the lack of morals. Would you guys want your daughter to play for someone that values backstabbing and undermining to get what they want?

That's a big step when parent's control who the coach is and not the AD/BOE. It would be a very sketchy situation year in and year out if that were the case.

Why don't parents let the coach do their job and quit trying to run the show!!

correct, hopefully the AD/ administration goes outside and hires someone that has no connections to the program. This will give the group of parents a fresh face and no pre-conceptions, or it could be looked upon as "fresh blood" and someone new to turn their lack of respect and undermining tendencies toward.

Why is it that she should remain the coach? If the school does their due dilligents and makes the best POSSIBLE hire, then that coach will be dedicated as well. It will be hard not to do better than 7-13.

Why shouldn't she? Because parents don't like her, because she didn't baby them? boo"freakin"hoo! John Wooden himself wouldn't have won more games with the current talent. That is not the coaches fault. Again, if the players are listening to mommy and daddy and not the coach the ultimate goal will never be reached. There is no "I" in TEAM!!!

Actually, you as a parent, should have no say in this unless you're on the School Board or you're the AD. If then you are one of those, you should seperate yourself from the situation because, whether you know it or not, are partial and can't make an objectional decision. The only decision you can make as a parent is allowing your daughter to play for a coach or not. If you are all up in arms because she's such a horrible coach and ruining your daughter's life, then you should have had some thought before the season on letting your daughter play for such a horrible person. Again, by your reasoning, you FAILED as a parent. Good Day.
