That's why I said we'd lay out all the options if and when that issue comes up. No need to fire a volley at me.

Okay, I can now see who I'm arguing with. You two go ahead and ignore medical research that has proven time and time again that going under the gas is riskier than a local anesthetic. Sure you survived it many times Wilco, but will your wife? Will mine?

OSU4me - My wife and I agreed that we do not want any more children. We looked into our options. We went with Minera for a temporary (5 years) solution until we were certain we were done. Since then, we've agreed it's time to find a permanent solution since birth control medications increases risk of stroke. We explored our options. A vasectomy is the most economical and is PROVEN safer than my wife getting her tubes tied. My wife and I make babies, not just her. To even imply that she's selfish for OUR decision for me to go get snipped is obtuse. Wouldn't I be selfish to refuse a vasectomy and tell her that since she's the baby carrier and I'm merely the baby maker that she needs to be the one to take on a riskier surgery? (Again, medically proven to be riskier.)

Mo I am not claiming your wife is selfish, I am very sorry if you think I am referring to her. Let me rephrase this... If two people look into all the options, the man wants to do this and agrees to feeling its better for all involved.....more power to him. When I first brought up my opinion it was under the quote of "men buckle under the pressure from the women", and as I noted about a wife to withhold till the deed is done.....sorry, I disagree with that.

Had this done years ago.

Kind of a sad story-a friend of mine-quite a bit younger than me had it done at the urging of his wife. Less than 2 months later, he found out she was having an afair and they seperated.

My wife and I have 5 children. I was done having them... she can have more if she wants... but I'm done.

Simple as that- the nurse at the consultation asked me if I was sure I wanted this done even though I was in my early 30's. I said 'Lady, I have 5 kids, I'm pretty darn sure'.

Not that I know of- unless the wife extracted it from me before the procedure.

What are you doing posting after 10:30 PM? Did the nursing home forget to shut off the lights in your room?

I had it done when I was 23...which was really early for that kind of thing during that time. I've never had or wanted kids, so it's never been a hard choice. It really wasn't that bad at all. I'd liken it to slightly less painful wisdom tooth removal process. It wasn't that bad at all and definitely worth it.
