Hard to believe considering the AD himself said they would take a look in a recent newspaper article.

The BVC has made major strides as a conference in the past 15 or so years. Is it a good thing to be a conference champ of a weak conference? I wouldn't let quality competition scare me away. I think both conferences offer nice competition. However, the BVC is a MUCH better fit for Riverdale geographically. I think that money saved from travel & money gained from gates would be a huge determining factor in wanting to join the BVC also.

So you base your decision on 10-15 years ago? Good thought process.......probably why companies are moving into Detroit to open their businesses....base on 20-25 years ago Detroit is the place to be. See where that gets you.
And c'mon...softball? That's genius. "We chose the NCC because the softball is so competitive!" Great move. Gate at softball games must be really good in the NCC.
You must be breaking bread with Ryan Wright.

I never said anything about choosing a particular conference based upon the strength of softball. I actually stated that the BVC is a better fit for us. Personally, I would like to see us join the BVC. Mentioning the softball successes was merely an example of a strength that the NCC has enjoyed and is superior to the BVC. I also mentioned the football successes in the NCC that are going to be a part of the N10.
I don't think that Riverdale should shy away from ANY conference based on the strength of the competition. That should be more of a reason to join...playing better teams should make you better, if you can get the kids and coaches on the same page.
To your question of "So you base your decision on 10-15 years ago?" I'd have to reiterate that 10-15 years ago, I would have considered the NCC a better league. I said that the BVC has made major strides the past 15 years or so. If the NCC is weaker than they used to be, and the BVC is stronger, why not be a part of a stronger conference (which also happens to be MUCH closer)? It's a no-brainer to me.

I sure hope the leaders of the Red Devils don't stand in the way of expansion. This is the perfect time to expand, even if only to 12. Would liked to have had the Falcons along for the ride and make it 14. I think they blew this one!

Agree, and when someone puts pen to paper and looks mileage and other factors, you cant even compare the amount of money they could of saved, it makes no sense. The good news, I hear they are other good D5 and large D6 choices that fit to expand to 12.
How many kids are out for football at Vanlue. Its time to start to play that game as well. No matter happens the league is not expanding this year for sure, but Vanlue not having enough to field a team is very likely.

Don't expect it to go to 12. It will either be 14 or not at all. The idea was to go to 14 to find some smaller schools that the smaller BVC schools would accept. Seems like that has happened. Only wrench in the works is that Riverdale has said no. Not sure if Riverdale's decision blows it all up. Riverdale was definitely wanted.
As for Riverdale's decision, I would agree with all of you. Makes zero sense to me, and I am a pretty logical person.
How do you pass a levy in the future there when you were given an invite to the BVC (at 1/3 the transportation costs) to go to a league that you will not be any more competitive in? Not in the best interests of the school district, IMO.
