Hypothetical situation: What IF Grove, Bluffton, Allen East, or Ada (schools rumored to have been contacted) decided to leave the NWC? Just one or a couple or all - what would the ramifications be in that league? What IF some in the BVC wanted to accept expansion and some did not? So those that did, take the new schools and create a new league. Now you've changed at least 2 leagues. Then again - nothing could happen. Time will tell...

If there is a block by some of the schools I think maybe a best case can play out. If Arlington, Vanlue, and HN decide they want to keep things the same don't be surprised if the other schools decide to leave the league. Certain schools, LB, Van Buren, McComb, Leipsic, Pandora, and Cory Rawson all want stability within the league. Arlington may be happy happy beating up on Arcadia and Hardin Northern and Vanlue, but other schools in the league want better competition and thus better gates.

Change is coming, and you never know who could affected, just ask the MAL, SLL, and the Toledo City League.

As far as who turned a letter of interest in on the MAL side, it was Hopewell, North Baltimore, Lakota and Calvert. Apparently, Fostoria St. Wendelin is not/did not turn one in. Won't know who will be invited to interview until later next week.

Haven't had the time to check on any of the other schools. What about Patrick Henry? Haven't heard much talk about them on here. Don't know a whole lot of people in PH. Just wondering if they would even consider it?

No. PH would not consider leaving the NWOAL in my opinion. The NWOAL is as stable of a league as there is. Tgey are looking for a 10th school but that's just to ease scheduling difficulties for those with non league games weeks 5-10. The NWOAL has a great mix of schools and really prepares teams fir the playoffs. 4 of the members have a state title and almost every year you see a league school advance to the regional final. PH is in a very good spot (aside from its week 9 non league game)

Says on another site that Lakota did not respond to the BVC with interest, confirmed by Super

Not sure what site. Not gonna fish around. Was stated at the MAL meeting that Lakota was sending theirs in, but that the Super was super-conflicted, and didn't want to do it.

The Board had told her to send it in. She must have worked to change their mind. I have a hard time believing Lakota was being strongly considered, even though they do have an awesome new school, and they are Division 5. Not a lot of athletics support there, and the gates are bad on a consistent basis.

Lakota's Super is the head of the MAL committee, so that might be where her conflict is/was.

An upper division school? (van buren doesn't count, they aren't known for recruiting, and aren't as big)

I love the whole recruiting thing and LB.......can anyone name one player of any sport that has been 'recruited'? Public schools can't recruit....only private schools have something to offer (paid tuition)!

Same post two threads... c'mon Falcon you're better than that! :D Anyway... this is the same old talk every year... and it always ends the same, most small schools/conferences go through cycles of good years and bad years. Some, however, might not recover in the end and some may be on top for awhile. Still won't change the fact the LB will be in the BVC and be competitive. Until they dominate every sport like they have in track (boys and girls) the league won't "boot" them out... regardless of how much they recruit. ;) There are other BVC schools out there that have had as much success at times in the past, and they weren't asked to leave, in fact other schools stepped up to the challenge and their turn came to be on top. I don't foresee a change in the BVC except for adding quality, not ridding the conference of quality opponents

The current BVC schools would be crazy to ask LB to leave the conference. With the opportunity to beat a school that is "bigger/higher division" every year has to have value. I am willing to bet that multiple schools have made the playoffs in years past due to a win over the larger school, LB.

Plus, LB was once the door step of the conference in all sports......was anyone asking to have them booted then? Arlington basketball teams have been succesful for a couple years now, so when will the banter start to have them booted from the BVC.

Plus, LB typically produces a good gate wherever they travel. And, high school sports today is all about money. (Thus, the reason why Catholic / Private schools are still competing with public schools at tournament time). Schools would be crazy to give up those $$. It is especially great when you can have LB prop up your gate, then beat them!

IMO, if LB were to leave or be kicked out of the BVC, it would be the end of the BVC as we know it. Other schools would bolt.

Arlington has the most to lose right now by expansion...from a sports perspective they are on the rise, by bringing in competition it reduces their chances to win titles. That is probably why they are against it.

IMO it is in the best interest of the BVC to add 4 schools right now and look to phase HN and Vanlue out of the conference.

If that is really true about Arlington, that is really lame and weak on their part.

I agree with Webfire.....Arlington just sends two teams to state and they are running from competition? It is not like the teams that BVC is considering for expansion are all state powers or anything either. You would think the BVC schools would put the stability and future of the league above all else. Of course I am sure most are talking about football as that is all anyone is concerned about it seems since it brings in the money.

Actually public schools can and DO recruit. I am by no means acusing LB. But I do know of a school in Hardin County that is constantly having kids and even coaches talk to kids from other schools. Known fact, I know kids who have been called and even had people stop by their house. What do they have to offer? Exposure, winning.

Alright...let's not get off on the recruiting tangent that's been beaten over and over.

Is there any time line for interviewing these schools that have responded to the letter of interest?

The last I knew, the ADs were getting together today to review all the responses. I thought there was going to be sometype of proposal made to the BVC superintendantss the latter part of April.

The ADs did not meet on Thursday, as most of them were in Columbus at the boys state tournament.

Ada, HL, NB, Calvert on the short list-at least that's what was being said in Cbus today. No N10/8 schools showed interest. Not sure how true this is.

I'd have a hard time believing Riverdale didn't respond with interest
