I really enjoy reading anything to do with OG topics. :coffee:
Don't worry cubbies, whenever your program becomes relevant again you can read about them this time of year as well.

I didn't go to the game but I had 3 different, unbiased, successful head coaches tell me Tyson outcoached Frank.

Pokercat, we have no control over enrollment number like the private schools do.

LCC's enrollment is under 350 and are just a couple of boys over the limit to remain a DIII school. If they really controlled enrollment, don't you think they'd have more kids? On the other hand, OG is just a couple of kids under the limit of being a DII school. Huge advantage for them. You guys talk about the school as if it was a huge school and no one showed up. As far as numbers in the stands, LCC was well represented and had nearly as many students in the stands as OG. But the game wasn't won or lost by the people in the stands. It simply came down to LCC being out-rebounded by 11 rebounds and missing 9 of 12 foul shots. If you just look at those 2 statistics, they're lucky they didn't lose by more than 6. As far as Coach Kill goes, if he continues to lead his team to the Regional Finals, I don't think he'll have a problem. His so-called "antics" on the sideline are not all stomping and yelling at officials....he is very animated in coaching his kids and it's reflective of his passion for the game. He's about as quality an individual as you're going to find anywhere. He's a second year Varsity coach with his kids in the regional finals. Sounds pretty solid to me.

Dawgbone.....Your posts are making you look ridiculous. You can say what you want about the enrollment numbers, but keep in mind LCC can take any kid they want from the entire Lima area. The number of students in the school is irrelevant.....both teams only have 12 kids on the roster. LCC's talent pool is much, much larger than OG's when you consider the area and population that they draw from. If OG drew kids from all of Putnam County they would still be drawing from a population well less than half of what LCC has to get their players from.

the number of students in a school is not irrelevant

LCC and OG have an advantage over any school in NWO Div 3 for their size and what they pull from.

If you can't win at these schools you have no business coaching.

Saying these schools don't have an advantage is like saying tOSU doesn't have an advantage over Iowa in putting a better football team on the field.

We won state in 04 in Division 2 so we've done just fine in that division too....there is nothing we can do about our division our enrollment is what it is.

My point was that comparing LCC and OG based on the number of students is irrelevant. LCC draws from a much, much larger population than OG. Their "talent pool" is much larger. It doesn't matter if they have 350 kids in the school or 500, they're still drawing kids from a population base of close to 100,000 people. OG's is less than 20,000.

My comment obviously doesn't apply to the other schools you mentioned. Obviously OG has an advantage over smaller D3 public schools.....that's common sense. As titanman said, OG has been D2 and was one of the 4 or 5 smallest D2 schools in Ohio when they won it all in 2004.

As for the OSU vs Iowa comment....what does that have to do with enrollment? Both schools have 120 or so football players in their program. The size of the student body has absolutely effect on the number of kids playing football.

Using your reasoning, Duke should be lucky to win 2 games a year in basketball......their total student enrollment is 6400. No way in the world they can compete with schools like Texas, Ohio State or Michigan...right?

How about this to make it simpler for you to understand.......All 5 starters from Elida, Lima Senior, Shawnee and Bath could enroll at LCC next year and their student enrollment would still only be 152......would you still complain that OG has some kind of advantage because they have more kids in their school????

Here are the division breakdown I 400 and more 200 II 224 to 399 201 III 129 to 223 200 IV 128 and less 200 Total Schools 801

When O-G bumps to DII you don't hear them complain about being the small school in their division. Get over it....

On a side note I find it funny that everyone based who was going to win this game based on talent from the first matchup. What you don't hear from that first matchup is it was TJ's first game in the starting lineup since returning from the foot injury.....

Good game and good luck at state to the Titans....!

There is also 7 different high schools in the area. I honestly don't care about this argument just wanted to throw that in there.

Og won and lcc lost, that's all there is to it.

Come on dw. Don't get Clutch started. The CATHOLIC thing is optional, but if you are not Catholic you better have athletic ability. That is not optional.
