Yes it did. She wants to stay, but some of the parents (mostly freshman) want her gone. They don't like the way she disiplines their girls apparently. A coach is supposed to disipline the players in order to gain their respect and build their character. With the parents constantly coaching their daughters from the bleachers and at home, Lori doesn't stand a chance of gaining any form of respect from the girls. What's going to happen when these girls get out into the real world and get stuck in a job with a boss they don't like? Are mommy and daddy going to complain to the company CEO and get the manager fired in order for their kids to get a boss they like better?

I personally played under Smith for 4 years. She is passionate about what she does. Being a coach is a thankless job and Lori does it with pride. I can honestly say I left OGHS with a chunk of my butt on that court with how many times she chewed me out for stupid mistakes. I would go home and whine to my parents about she yelled at me for this and that and always told me that if she didn't care she wouldn't be yelling. Listen to what she is saying, not how she is saying it. I've been in the locker room behind the scenes, I've been to the practices where she makes us run out butts off. I've heard what was said and have seen what has been done. She does these things out of pure passion. Name a single coach in college that's not going to let some language slip in the heat of the moment, throw down a clip board, or stomp a foot..and these parents who think their daughters are all stars going D1? GOOD LUCK!..

You would be utterly surprised at the number of girls who played for her that STILL talk about how great the experience was with her as a coach, she was so much more than that...these newbies just need to grow up and deal with it, shut up and play, or get off the court.

You're trying to say having a team of predominately freshman and sophomores and having seven wins are not successful results? They're freshmen, they aren't set in any positions yet (trust it from someone who went from a point guard to a post to a shooting guard in different levels of basketball play up and all the way through college) You personally may think "susie" should be a point guard when in all reality she could be a really good shooter or a post. All positions are interchangable, a really good player can play any position on the court...is that not correct? And honestly, I don't expect her to get results with a group like she had. Mom and Dad are telling them not to listen to her, so what makes anyone think shes going to listen to Lori's plans for the game? Maybe if they turn off the eyes to the bleachers on every play they could get more acomplished.

Parents who think their children are better than they are, are becoming the norm in high school athletics.......it is killing high school sports....it is no wonder the good coaches are not sticking around.....cannot blame them!!!

Why do you keep commenting on how innappropriate she is acting? I have to ask, were you in the locker room or do you know someone who wants her job?....pathetic

I am assuming she is a good coach because I know what today's parents are like......it started about 15 years ago and has gotten progressively worse to the point where it is ruining high school athletics.....it actually sickens me to watch these parents make fools of themselves.....many times I have seen players look into the stands at their parents hoping they have won their approval.....that isn't what high sports is meant to be!!!!

Actually Landess, I don't think they would....believe me, when I say that happens in some schools.....trouble today is what is going on in the good ol USA......we are becoming a nation of "wussies'.......no one wants to be held accountable and it's always someone else's fault........come on America....let's toughen up and get our pride back.....it's going to be tough when we as a country put clowns in office who are way to liberal......anybody got a hand out for me....sheeeeesh.....other than that, I am enjoying life.....I still have my freedom!!!!!

Disagree. There are some that way but to say it's the norm is a huge insult to all the great parents who support their kids AND their coaches. There are many, many good parents out there and I know a lot of them.
