No disrespect to NB but what do they bring to the BVC besides being geographically close? HL & Riverdale I understand.

They bring in another school that Vanlue, HN, Arcadia can have competitive games against. Thus, possibly getting Vanlue, HN, Arcadia to be in favor of expansion.

my understanding, Vanlue has not going to be able to field a football team every year for like ever. And they still manage to....My question is more with HN. If they don't get a coach, that can get boys to come to play, they may fall before Vanlue. And with the fairly recent success HN has had, I would have never thought that possible.

Davidson, why is Carey not interested in the BVC? I actually thought that made more sense for them than the N10

To put it simply, this thing has become political. Vehre and his staff are "all in" (in poker terms) for this new Northern 10 league, and have sold it to the Carey community as not only the best option for the school's future competitively and financially, but also as a way to "return to our roots", and get back with many of their former NCC brethren.

In addition, when a rumor recently emerged about the possibility of Carey to the BVC, Vehre and his staff quickly stomped that out as being 100 percent untrue. In essence, they pretty much HAD to tell the BVC no, or look totally disingenuous.

That being the case, don't get me wrong, I agree with many of you on here that they seem a pretty natural fit. But they just aren't interested.

Funny, that no one (including the Wiki page) is mentioning the possibility of Elmwood. They previously had been talking to the MAL about the idea of switching leagues, and then came out with the "we're staying" statement. Elmwood HS is only 20 miles from downtown Findlay, and is a DV, Regon 18 team.

Much like Carey, I expect them to say "not interested" due the above statement, but really they shouldn't. Scores from this last football season in the NBC:

Eastwood. 52
Elmwood. 0

Genoa. 65
Elmwood. 6

Otsego. 61
Elmwood. 14

And it wasn't just this year...

2010

Eastwood. 72
Elmwood. 0

Elmwood just isn't a great fit there. If I were them, I would respond to the BVC, and at least sit down and talk. But that is just me.

Not only would Carey compete in football, they ususally have good girls' basketball and track. Boys would do decent in basketball some years, and volleyball is not bad either. I think Carey would be a no-brainer for a quality team that is close by. Carey is moving to the N10 to be among former NCC teams...Mohawk and Riverdale being 2 of them. Their football rivalry with Mohawk is HUGE. I wonder...would Carey consider the BVC if Mohawk was included in the move?

I hope my Red Devil Adminstrators keep the big picture in focus in this process. I hate hearing that we are "against" expansion. The BVC being proactive and adding teams now, when we can control who it is and how they fit makes PERFECT SENSE. Look at the MAL and how that hole league is in chaos because three defected and left the rest to fend for themselves. Adding 4 teams makes perfect sense---Riverdale, NB, H-L and....Elmwood/CG/Bluffton/Ada would all be great fits IMHO.

Maybe someone should contact Dennis Martin to spearhead this!

Elmwood should absolutely look at the BVC. I still thought they should have looked at the MAL with Woodmore.

I emailed the guy who posted the map on wikipedia. he said "the map was to show what schools , that were close to ALL the schools, could be added to the conference before conference divisions were in the picture. If you give me a list of all the schools I'll happily add them for you."

so anyone have a official list of all the schools that were asked or should join?

Should be noted it was a letter of inquiry as to any interest in the BVC, not an invitation. Patrick Henry-Elmwood-NB-Hopewell-Mohark-Carey-Riverdale-USV-Ada-Bluffton-Lima Perry-Grove-Allen East-Calvert. Missing two more. Total of sixteen

Off the top of my head, I can see that Fostoria St. Wendelin is NOT in there. They did, however, get an inquiry letter as well. Will try to remember who may be missing from that. However, I was told that only 11 were going out, so not sure who is right here.

And accommodations were made to ease the concerns of smaller schools like Vanlue.

Under your guidelines, it would have to be Ada as the fourth team due to the assurances that have been made to assuage the concerns of the smaller schools. And anyway, CG has already said no, and I fully expect Elmwood to do so as well.

Maybe it was 11 real letters and 5 to throw a bone for Vanlue.

It's pretty easy to whittle that list down...

Several responses have been received to date. March 16 was the date requested for all schools to respond by.

Just to back him up (not that he needs me to), Buckshot is 100% correct on this date. March 16th is the date to send in letters of interest with the info requested by the BVC.

Mohawk isn't coming...they have no interest. Much like Carey. They are both "all in" on this Northern 10 idea.

As for Riverdale, the other Northern 10 teams have been saying that the lag in Riverdale signing on the dotted line is simply a procedural matter (think Bucyrus), and that the Riverdale school Board will be approving their move to the Northern 10 at this month's meeting. At least from the N10 perspective, they seem to have been given assurances that Riverdale is going to "stay the course" and join the N10. We will see if that comes to fruition. Wouldn't surprise me if Riverdale has a change of heart.

I had also been told that like CG, Elmwood, Mohawk and Carey, that Ada wasn't interested. Can't verify that, though. Will be interesting.

Ada was involved in the original NWCC talks and opted out... figured they would at least inquire about the BVC.
