giddyup, I'm impressed with your ability to post while in the position you most often find yourself. How can you even see the keyboard? :bow2: Actually, there are good and bad of everything in life. Players, coaches, fans, cheerleaders, waterboys, camera guys, moderators, etc etc. I think the issue is the attitude presented by humans in interactions with other humans. Those whose reps precede them can expect deeper scrutiny. Nice guys get more free passes. Just the way it is and I'm glad because I'm a very nice guy. The one and only nice "PROPHET" has spoken. LJ
Flounder, My first sentence was an attempt to call out giddy as a serious brown noser!!!!! I know that only a small % of this board had the intellect to follow my line of thinking but I had hoped that someone with your position could find within yourself the tissue to comprehend. Oh my God---so many underlying themes!!!!! I'm so sorry I was wrong [see, still nice]. LJ

Something "seeming" to be odd doesn't make it unprofessional... Just sayin

I am not going to get in a pi$$ing match with you over the Varsity Club incident.......I consider it out of line, and even the coach thought it the same.....if you want to defend the official....fine...have at it!!!!!

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this statement......the officials for tonight's game at LB had 30 years, 16 years, and 9 years experience....

Now please tell me that there are more experienced officials than the last one named....he clearly was out of his league tonight and all three couldn't get on the same page.....

When time is running out in a quarter...who's responsible for the clock? These three obviously didn't know that answer....taking a good bucket away at the buzzer in a tie ballgame.

Overall this group was very inconsistent and it was dissapointing to have them at tonight's game. Dr. Denny could have done better with this assignment.

So then why wasn't it unprofessional for the coach who's team is playing in the game the next day?

You're right I don't get it. Most professionals can -as the Offspring say "keep'em separated".

Wonder what the coach would have thought if the official didn't acknowledge him-would he have thought that was "odd"?

Just messin... Don't get upset.

ST is the most arrogant official I have ever seen - period and I have personally witnessed two games where he has taken offense to a fan in the crowd and responded with the F bomb. If you ask me, he should be done completely. Give me a young ref who is still learning the ropes that works hard and respects the game anyday over an over officious jerk who wants the game to be about him.

In summary, I have seen enough of this guy to know I don't want to see one more game with him holding a whistle. End of story.

Good point......I was wrong, in my assumption that it was unprofessional....I see nothing wrong with what happened that evening.....hey, the coach and his team won the state championship and the official wasn't heckled at all.....all is well that ends well.....let's all just get along!!!!!

ANSWER:There is a process for picking tourn refs. Morris is a small part of it. You need to yell at AD's, Coaches, District Boards. etc. if you want to yell at Morris. When time is running out in a quarter...who's responsible for the clock? These three obviously didn't know that answer....taking a good bucket away at the buzzer in a tie ballgame. ANSWER: Either center or trail official. Depends on gym and situation. Overall this group was very inconsistent and it was dissapointing to have them at tonight's game. Dr. Denny could have done better with this assignment.
ANSWER: Maybe a valid point of hiring crews instead of individuals, but Dr. Denny is not the issue. BUT I guess the crap flow upward to the top ref. LJ

A hint of sarcasm maybe... oh well.

As for the clock management ... Outside trail official has the "good" bucket call ... I think. They will consult with the table if unsure...

Need to ask a "professional" official for the actual ruling... or Flounder... sorry I couldn't resist! Lol

I've said this very same thing about Trout/Derryberry/Mangus/etc. on this site for YEARS. People REMEMBER the guys who get big games because they get (and keep getting) big games. It's a familiarity thing. In North Central Ohio, where I reside, it's always that GD Russ Pitts, or John Gurney, or Troy Newsome, or Mark Litton, or John Suppon (they've all had multiple State games). Folks see the faces, and then hear the names introduced, and then see them 2-3 times during the tourney, and they REMEMBER them. Now with the internet, they just have a way to "vent" and can facelessly attack them in a way that they could never do before, minus going to a game or the local barbershop.

The same type of attacks have been lobbed at others (and me) in forums such as these in other sports, including the one that I work. It's just the nature of the beast.....sadly. Folks like to bitch and moan and this (and other) forum gives them an outlet. It's easy to post something here, and have it spread about as Gospel.

Look no further than the 2 geniuses on here (one the thread starter, no less) that had Jerry Snodgrass as the "head of officials," (debunked) and Trout working all of LeBron's State games. For that moron....an official can only work a State game every 2 years, so unless LeBron spent 8 years in high school.....

All that said, Trout, while being a good official, can be an overbearing pain in the ass. IF he cursed, even with context, it's NOT very professional. Relax boys, his time is coming to a close, and then you'll all have to focus your barbs on someone else.....and you will

Here we go again, blame it on ST, just like Geo. Bush. Obviously, he has some skill if he still refs the playoffs every year. Maybe, some of you experts should get off your duff, if you can, and ref a few games. I am sooo tired of this same complaint every year. Only in NW Ohio, blame it on the refs. Amazing........

I didn't blame anything on him....I just liked KF's post. It had some good points in it.

I ain't no expert, I got mad respect for refs and what they do.
