I'm always amazed at ignorant statements like this. People act like State Championships grow on trees. Talk to the few coaches in the area that have one and ask them how easy it was to EARN that state title. It's a good accomplishment to make it to the Regionals and a great accomplishment to make it down to Columbus. Enjoy the good years you have!
Milt, Ottoville's Girls program is unbelievable to me, every year they are so good. Coach Kleman I think has a lot to do with that ( along with a lot of talent ) With that being said, I would think that the Tourney run this year was sort of a dissapointment. Congrats to the Lady Green on another great year!!

Time is running out for Ottoville to win State, all the talent they have had over the years and still no Championship!!

Am I missing something here? Is the town of Ottoville going extinct or is there school closing down? Just by reading your absurd comment kinda is driving me to believe this. As you may know, sometimes all the talent in the world just can't get you that championship. If you even have any knowledge of sports you would know that. Besides who knows, maybe in 5-10 years they will finally win that one or even next year.

Why was it a disappointment? They lost to a good Arlington team that just played their best game of the year? Hard to beat a team when they are banking their three pointers in. No disappointment there, Ottoville just didn't play their best. So I got a question for you. So was it a good year for Ottoville because I thought you said it was a disappointment? :shrug2: Because it can't be both.

Well Mysterio, read his comment, I think he is referring to the "tourney run", not the season. So, it can be both - a great season and a sh*tty tourney run.

This game was a perfect example of the post season.....a team gets hot at the right time (just one game) and it can propel you to states! If Arlington can pull out a state championship this will be game that they can look back at and say that it was huge. The Webb girl shooting lights out is the bit of luck that any team will need.

I still think Ottoville had the better coach, but not the better team for one night. I like Newlove as a person, but as a coach, I think he loses sight that he is coaching a game and pays too much attention to the refs.....although I must say, it is working.

Good luck to the Red Devils!

Ottoville has had some very amazing teams over the years.......especially the past 3 seasons....my view of the situation from the outside is this.....I have watched them plenty the past 3 seasons......they start out very good and when you see them early, you wonder how anybody could beat them.....they have had it all these past 3 season....good height, good guard play, deep bench, and alot of talent....I don't know what happens, but it seems they hit a high about two thirds into the season and then go the other way......I give Arlington credit for making the Big Green play the way they did last night, but that Ottoville team last night wasn't the same team that beat Lima Bath earlier......it has happened now the past 3 seasons......figuring out how to get your team to peak at the right time has puzzled many a coach over the years.......and O'town will be good again next season!!!!!

Well Falcon of course I read his comments otherwise I would not have made the comment I did.

He said the tourney run was a disappointment and then went into saying congrats on another great year. Is the tournament not considered part of the year? Perhaps he just worded it wrong i don't know. But regardless I just don't see how its a disappointment when they lost to the #2 team in state? I could maybe see if they fell to a below average team, but they didn't.

I heard that Ottoville has very low numbers playing in junior high. Any truth to that? Just asking.

I have to disagree with this point. There is more to coaching then what you see on the court. Seth puts many hours in watching films and had a near perfect gameplan. Get the gameplan ready before the game and work the refs during the game, sounds like a very good coach to me!

I believe they lost to C.Grove, who has some really nice athletes in the freshman-sophomore grades right now.

I think people lose perspective about tournament. It's about beating the team in front of you, on that particular night. Every loss in tournament is going to be disapointing mainly because your season is over and you always wonder 'what if?' This especailly holds true when you have two 'Elite' teams such as Ottoville and Arlington.

This game, according to the coaches poll, were theoretically the two best teams in the state and could easily have been a State final four game or state final. What if these two teams were in the same sectional? This game would have been played two weeks ago. In terms of goals and aspirations, your goal might be to make it to the state final 4. But, like this game, if you play one of the top tier teams in the state earlier in the tournament, it's a little tougher.

Disapointment to lose? Always. But if you determine your success/failure rate by how far you get in tournament without factoring in who you lost too, I think you're not being fair to yourself or the team.

Not even sure how to respond to this post...first Arlington wins because "a team gets hot at the right time (just one game)", then the team's best pure shooter (Webb) gets lucky, and finally our coach is not as good and pays too much attention to the refs. Dang, sounds like we are one lucky team to have went 46-2 in past 48 games.

This was not your best effort on Rocketcorner, Falcon86. :bag:

What a great game to witness......couple things that really stood out.....the huge difference on field goal attempts...especially the first half.....the dynamite performancee by the guard that came off the bench....and the huge differential in turnovers.....all spelled doom for Ottoville......I also feel that Arlington has the best team hands down, and Newlove...even though he is rather new to this coaching thing made Kleman look like a rookie.......just my observance!!!!!

Good luck to Arlington.....keep playing them one at a time, and you have a great shot at bringing home the hardware!!!

Postie.......

My analysis!!!!!!!

Gotta disagree with us. Coach K is a special coach. Look at all the success he's had on (and off) the court. Both are great coaches though!

Ottoville was 64-5 in the last 3 years, no state championship, but name any other school with such a good record. They lost, got beat by a better team that night. Do not complain, I am a BIG Green Fan. Sure, I am disappointed, but life goes on. Do not bad mouth, DK.
