Now that I think about it, I'd have to say that an invite (and acceptance) to the BVC would give our student/athletes more comfortable busses as a by-product.

I'm not sure this is going to happen. They have to find the right two or four teams acceptable to at least I think seven schools. Two are already dead set against adding anyone to the BVC. Any guesses to who the two schools are?

Are they also PCL members?

Does anyone know the timetable for this expansion conversation? it is obvious some MAL schools and Northern 10 possible schools will want to know if they are accepted by BVC as soon as possible. Do most think it will be 2 or 4 teams?

I have heard from many people that Arlington is against any change. If and when it comes to a vote and they vote it down I have a sneaky feeling the others will go and form a new league with the schools that are interested and leave them with the teams that are not invitied to form the new league.

Interesting.... which schools are not in favor of expansion besides Arlington and the other "2" ? The 2 smallest , Vanlue and HN, are they the other 2?

Arlington made it clear they are not in favor of expanding the league. I even heard rumors that Arlington has approached other BVC schools in an attempt to gain the three schools to say no to expansion. Arcadia and Vanlue are the wild cards at this time. All other schools have shown support to the idea.

I hope fighting panther is right. If the expansion idea doesn't pass i would love to see PG - CR - LP - LB -McC and VB jump ship to establish a new league. You know Riverdale and Hopewell would be on board. That would make one nice 8 league team full of competition.

Why would Arlington not be in favor of expansion IF it provided some overall stability in all the programs from JH to HS?

You mean schools that are in the same conference talk to each other outside of a "formal" league meeting???? Really? I wasn't aware of that. I thought they only discussed league business at meeting. :)

An UNOFFICIAL sketch that was drawn up has been posted on this link. Red dots are current and Blue dots are possible schools to join.

Looking at this map, I believe Bluffton and Riverdale should join the conference.
additional 2 schools: Carey and Ada?

If divisions needed: split conference as "EAST" AND "WEST" between McComb/Cory and Liberty Benton.

To answer my previous question: Arlington was one school, Vanlue was the other,

I don't know who put together the Wikipedia page, but the info on Riverdale should state that they are a member of the North Central Conference, NOT the Northwest Central Conference...there's a BIG difference.

I am not sure why Vanlue would be against expansion. If anything, it could save their rear end.

And why would Arlington be opposed to adding, let's say, Riverdale and Carey?
Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

I think this would be a good fit for Bluffton...

Vanlue's opposition is understandable. They are the smallest of the small.
For Arlington, I think things are more complex. Many in the community would like nothing more than L-B to leave the conference (see former coach Joe Metzger's letter to the editor at The Courier). Whether they are just resentful of their all-sport success or just think if we get rid of these guys we'd have a better chance of winning the league most years I'm not entirely sure.
I do think the BVC in its current state is comfortable for Arlington. They can go 7-3 and have a shot at the playoffs every year. Add a Carey, Hopewell-Loudon, Grove, etc. things become much more difficult.

Just think if not for an absent, lame-duck school board member not attending a meeting, the Falcons could be in the NWCC right now. I was at the board meeting when they voted to leave to NCC for the NWCC and the vote ended in a 2-2 deadlock so they remained in the NCC.
