That's all well and good, but this is a basketball forum. I have no problem with you defending your player. You have every right to do so. Just don't act like I stole your last cookie merely because I mentioned that he might need a little help getting himself straightened out. There's no harm in that, is there??

You think him getting on here and reading all this and with RM saying he will be in jail soon is a good start to that help?

Given his past and the current state of affairs, that may be where he's headed, especially if what slice said is true and he's basically thrown away any past efforts to help him.

Actually the water is bad in Elida. We keep getting notices about some level of a chemical or something that is high. Let's be more specific next time, shall we?

Using terms in a wrong context, or just plain using words you don't actually know the meaning of, doesn't help your argument. It makes you look like whiny, butthurt infants with the mental iq of about 40.
There is no libel/slander or "cyberbullying" going on in this thread. Please use a dictionary and common sense before accusing other people of things they aren't actually doing.
This thread has not once mentioned any player by name, and burden of proof lies with the person accusing someone else of doing something illegal or wrong. If you can actually point out where someone was bashing a student by name and saying things that are consistent with actual cyberbullying, then please enlighten us. And making up instances to prove your case, isn't going to fly.
By the way, in case you were confused, here is the definition of cyberbullying: "Cyberbullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner." Also, 99.9% of cyberbullying cases include the bullies releasing the public information of their victims, which includes: their real name, their email and physical address, date of birth. These bullies use message boards or social networking sites to create FALSE Rumors and spread them to turn other people against them (in this case, they aren't false rumors, we are discussing an actual, verified incident, and Rocketman didn't post this thread so we could all jump on the bandwagon and start hating a kid, who by the way is still naemeless. I'm from Archbold, so I have no idea who this kid is, nor do I care to know his name.).
In other words, this isn't cyberbullying.
In no way, has this thread been a deliberate attack on a student, nor has it been hostile. In fact, if you read the posts, all but a very small handful have said that they hope the student in question gets help and changes his life, because we are aware that this is a teenager. We haven't been sitting around here going, "Oh, what a waste of human life that kid is, he should just kill himself." What has been said in this thread isn't at all like that, and has been about getting the student in question some help and stating that sometimes a student's wellbeing is more important than athletics. Simply discussing a student, who wasn't named, online is not cyberbullying or slander or libel, or illegal in any way.
I actually think it is important to talk about situations like this instead of just ignoring the situation and hoping it goes away. Not talking about situations where kids mess up doesn't help anyone and only leads to more problems. I'd rather see genuine, heartfelt discussion like the one in this thread, over people acting high and mighty simply so they can brush it under the rug and be so scared to hurt someone's feelings and actually be part of the problem, rather than the solution.
TL; DR:
This thread hasn't been cyberbullying, bashing, libel, or slander. Please invest in a dictionary and read it before commenting on things you clearly have no idea about, thanks.
