Bill McDonnell, his family, and the whole Pizza Robbery clique need to flee town ASAP. They've got a personal vendetta against Carpenter and Elida and they're making the school and its community look terrible. We're in our first year of a brand new building, we're coming off a historic and amazing run in football, and we're currently in a great season in basketball, yet we have these wackos trying to bring everything down. The McDonnell family's comments and such on The Lima News and the comment section is embarassing for that family. The only reason that article made yahoo sports is because Bill brought it to their attention.
This whole situation needs to stop, now. Things are getting blown wayyy out of proportion. In hindsight, the best thing that could have happened was Elida not allowing the Maag youngster in the weight room. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20.

Is this the same Bill McDonnell that was let go by Elida Schools as a bus driver? Yes it is. He wasn't fired, he just wasn't rehired! When that happened Mr. McDonnell went on a community hate tour trying to get the Transportation Supervisor and the Business Manager fired. This was also his platform for running for the school board. He has now graduated from wanting to fire the Transportation Supervisor and Business Mgr.,to wanting to fire the Supt., Head Football Coach and Board Members. If I got as few votes as what he did in the Board Election, I think I would keep my mouth shut. Nobody has listened to him for three years except the Education beat writer for the Lima News. She needs a better source than Bill McDonnell. The man has an ax to grind and people that believe him are in a very small minority in Elida!

so if you were married and your wife's boss came up behind her, made a humping motion and asked her if this is how she likes it, you would tell her to deal with it, he was only joking. Sorry, can't agree with you. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I hope you never have any family members in this position.

This isn't a family member's boss in an office. It's a bunch of high school boys with coaches. I know it's hard to believe, but people crack jokes and actually do this "laughing" thing when they are in high school. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if his classmates did the same thing. Would you suggest they be expelled? Hell I saw "worse" than this during my time in high school and nobody gave two *******s about it.

We had people do juvenile things like lock players in porta-jons and occasionally get stung by bees, switch their football clothes with other player's, put their clothes on the bus when they hit the showers, and other odds and ends juvenile "get a laugh out of it" stuff. I'm sure just about anybody that played sports or attended high school could raise similar stories. When that crap happened when I was on the receiving end, I didn't feel "violated" or that I should have somebody fired, put in trouble, etc.....it's simple human behavior. If people can't handle that, they need to get the hell off the computer and cell phones and go outside once in a while like some of us older ones have.

i also saw alot of joking around in the locker room but i can't say i ever saw a coach simulate anal ###### on a player and ask him if this is how he likes but obviously you have seen worse than that. And ,i do know of a student that got suspended for humping another student while standing in the hallway. I guess teachers are not held to the same standards as students.

Wonder what would happen to a student who would kick his teacher in the groin area which caused the teacher to fall to the floor when engaged in horseplay? Food for thought on that one. Would that student just get a 5 day suspension?

First thing is I would expect more from my Head Coach because he sets the example for the rest of the kids. If your coach is doing this than it will be accepted as OK. ALot of kids can take this kind of FUN and laugh it off but what about the kid that cant. I love my alma mater of Wapakoneta but will be the first one to say we have had alot of issues with teen suicide and bullying. Some kids look for help from their elders not seeing one spreading the problems. This coach should have thought before he acted because its his own fault not these kids who got in trouble they got their punishment.

I thought of it the same way you did when I first heard about the humping incident. One time thing..bad judgement...but certainly no big deal. I have done things in my my life, that while not in this catagory, may be equally stupid, immature, and embarassing. But at that point, any normal person would say to themselves: No matter what, I cannot have a similar incident like this again and expect to keep my job. And yet something happens within a few weeks of the resolution of the first conflict that is bad enough to get him suspended? It completely changes the complection of this situation.

I expect these kind of things from kids because they are immature...but these kind of actions are too far for an adult to engage in with his/her students or players...teachers/coaches are suppose to be professional and set good examples, which seems to be lacking in this scenario...Im not saying a teacher/coach cant joke around with students, but it has to be tasteful and not cross any boundaries where the professionalism is lost.

I am willing to give Carpenter the benefit of the doubt, but 2 total screwups is to much.....the first could possibly be overlooked, but then to go back and do something just as bad....well, this guy sounds like he has issues.......I think a teacher should assume the same role as the parent when he is around students.......I just can't picture a parent doing those things to his child......just my feelings!!!!!

Its time for him to move to Michigan or Indiana. I'm sure they need coaches there and Elida will provide a good reccomendation.

Well, if the coach is 8-2 the kid is going to get 5 days. If the coach is 2-8 then probably just a Saturday school

No, it's stupid how if this happened in College, the coach would've been suspended 2 Games. Not 5 Days of school.

If not for the robbery, there would have been no basis for the joke.....
You can't be a convicted felon that's done time and not expect these kinds of comments and jokes from all of society.... It's gonna take some time for their (pizza bandits) 'indiscretion' to fade in ppls' minds.... 'til then, you're subjected to the unkind remarks and ridicule.... Although, I once again, do not suggest Carp was correct in his 'horseplay'; he's got his 'sentence', as well.....I just think it's doing an incredible injustice to these 'boys' for the parents and 'friends' to keep up this vendetta instead of admitting (TRULY admiting and ACCEPTING ) your kid(s) did wrong,.....quit trying to get vengeance; let it die in ppl's minds so they can get on with their lives instead of always having to deal with all the drama all of the time.

His suspension was from a classroom incident...nothing involving fb......even the 1st allegations were not fb related.

Not football related?

Wasn't it the head football coach making a joke about a football player in the weight room in front of other football players?

I would say that if the head football coach does ANYTHING that gets them reprimanded, that its football related - but that's my opinion.

I don't think making a joke and offending a kid warrants being fired or even suspended, but it should have been enough to put this man on notice that he would be held to a higher standard of behavior than what he had been displaying.

Unfortunately whats done is done, and further erosion of confidence and respect can only be slowed by avoiding similar incidents - and maintaining Eldia's newfound excellence on the football field. Will be interesting to see how long this coach continues to be supported by the Elida community, especially if they fall back into the ranks of mediocrity in the WBL.
