Arlington is a very good team.
Amelia Recker is a very, very good player!!

I was a little surprised they were able to make us look as bad as they did, they completely took us out of our game which is what good teams do. I know I'm not as well traveled as some on here but I have seen some good teams this year and in the past and I really thought we were becoming one of them, and had a chance, but Arlington proved me wrong. I will not make excuses they are more experienced, stronger, more under controll, yet more aggressive, better shooters, and somewhat deeper than we are. I know for a fact my daughter learned alittle about where they need to be, to be able to get to where they want to go. If that makes any sense. And luckily we are very young and have a few years to try to get there.

Good luck to Arlington the rest of the year!
Although I am hoping for another shot at them in regionals to try and save alittle face.

Grace - I think we can all agree that it's okay to have your own opinions on this topic. This is not a slam on Craft either...she is a great player. Regardless of who wins it, you could make a case for either one. I just happen to see Recker play more, and of course I am biased to some degree. Let's end the POY discussion as my post was more around how well Atown is playing and how Amelia's game has got significantly better since week 3.
I'm not sure I'd say better, they've just got used to playing with each other throughout the season. It's too bad the Arlington/ LB game wasn't at the end of the season instead of the beginning. Remember, Arlington had some excellent seniors graduate last year, and it's taken them 10-12 games to really get comfortable with each other. LB's had virtually the same squad as last year, except for the freshman.

Exactly. Every really great team has a few loose bricks. You just gotta figure out which bricks are loose . :wallbash:

Nicely put, Donny! You gave credit where credit was due and was humble all the while. I know that I should have tried this approach a few times in the past.

craft is clearly the player of the year. Best player on the best team with the best college offer.

Coach Newlove or Coach Irwin, heck I would take either one and actually I did have one of them coach my daughter! Both are not only great coaches, they are awesome, class act, great role model young men that I would be proud to have either coach my daughter. I can't say enough good about both of them!

I agree with the best college offer but that's about it. Unless your talking about just their conference?

Best college offer?? Does that mean S. Recker from PG should have been POY last year???? I'm not sure what the college offer has to do with the 9 conference games you play in during the season...

If pandora would have won the league last year then she would have been the best player on the best team with the best offer. So the answer to that under those circumstances would be yes. Since that did not occur common sense tells us no she should not have been.

This year Craft was better head to head, is the better player and is going to a big ten school which is nationally ranked every year. recker will get one vote from Irwin and that is because can't vote for Craft.

It is those mean refs fault that she was on the bench in foul trouble against Liberty. Just ask the objective post player.

I refuse to comment on anything BOB has to say.

However...if there was ever a year for a co-BVC POY, this is it. Amelia Recker breaks the career scoring mark on Tuesday, and then tonight breaks the single game scoring record by racking up 40 pts.

Stats don't lie typically...and Amelia Recker and Catie Craft are close in every category but Recker does have the edge in scoring and rebounding - two of the pivotal stats. Craft has edge in assist and steals.

I say honor both girls for terrific careers...both 4 yr letter winners with tremendous stats.

Imo, Craft will win BVC POY... however, I'm not sure why we care about the college offers. College scouts aren't always looking for the "Best" player... they look for players with the most potential. You're telling me all the 6'9" players at D-1 colleges were superstar athletes that dominated high school basketball?? Think again...

I'm not saying anything like Craft isn't worthy of her scholarship or the POY... just most college scouts look for potential, which doesn't necessarily mean the best player gets the "best" scholarships...

blast on occassion some players get D1 offers based on potential. However, the vast majority of the time they dominate at the high school level. Especially in Northwest Ohio small school basketball. My point really had little to do with division 1 and more with that fact that craft dominated the head to head match up. Throw in the fact that LB will win the conference and it is hard to believe Craft will not be playe rof the year. it is not a knock on Recker. If arlington would have beat LB and Recker had 29 and Craft 9 then it would be a different story. Scoring average can be misleading especially if you drop 40 on a team that is having a bad year. Personal awards should mean nothing anyway. Conference titles and a trip to Columbus should be the only goals.

Bob - would you support a co-player of the year this year considering the feats of both girls?

I cannot think of a better year to do this than this year considering the quality of both girls not too mention neither has won the award despite being qualified in past years. I would hate to see either girl get left out.

Personally, I have no problem with co players of the year. If i had to vote i would vote for Craft for the reasons I mentioned. Being player of the year should be secondary to winning. It is a shame to go and watch games and see parents tracking rebounds, assist, and point on notebooks in the stands. I guarantee the POY award is less important to the two girls than it is to those in the family and crowd. would you rather be first team and go back to the regional or have recker be co player of the year and get upset in the sectional? keep some perspective everyone will always remember her as a great player few will remember if she was poy in the bvc. If the team makes a run the team will be remembered forever by everyone

I sat next to college scout when Craft was an underclassman that were actually there looking at Amanda Hyde. When they left they told me that Craft is the one that really caught their eye....... I do agree on your "potential" comment, but you can't tell me that a Big Ten program like Ohio State would offer Craft a scholarship thinking that she is not capable of playing "now".

Post, I think very few folks would have a problem with "co" POY when these two kids are involved.

Arlington exposes another overrated team. First, they waxed Arcadia. Arcadia was so upset with the loss. They couldn't defeat Mohawk in their next game. New Reigel gets trounced by Arlington on Tuesday. Friday, they still have a hangover from the loss and Tiffin Calvert defeats them. The FDA should put a warning label on Arlington. They are hazardous to your health.
