What does Celina have coming back? I've seen them mentioned as being much improved a couple of times now, and I know they were in a bunch of close games early. Seemed to kind of fade at the end though(albeit about the meat of the schedule).

Btw Spongebob....what does Kenton have coming back? We know they lose Mauk, and we know Sherman may be a pretty good QB behind him. What else do they have back? This year's over, I think everyone's ready to move on.

How does some of the school's match up for 2012?
Kenton- Loses Mauk, but return some key recievers.
Elida- Loses McAdams, but also return key defense.
Bath- Lose Davis and Smith, and they might falter down the ranks.
Celina- Return Billger at QB, and key recievers.
Defiance- Struggled in 2011, may be ready for 2012
Wapak- Return their QB, could be a force in the WBL.
St. Marys- Lose Manning, might struggle in 2012.
Van Wert- Maybe could lift up the ranks.
Shawnee- Lose key players on O and D, but should be a decent team in 2012.
OG- They seem to have all the pieces in 2012.

I like how Celina and Defiance are both ahead of Shawnee, which returns a fair amount of players. Shawnee beat both of these teams pretty handily in 2011 (Celina 63-20, Defiance 33-7)

Has Van Wert hired a head coach yet? Any prospects?

Way early prediction:
1 OG
2 Wapak- these are the clear favorites. Big drop off to the rest.
3 Kenton- they're still going to be pretty good. Anyone thinking they'll fall apart will be disappointed...still potential for 7 or 8 wins.
4 Shawnee- always hard to read. Could be 4th, could be 9th....always talented but always seem to fall short of expectations.
5 Elida- McAdams will be tough to replace. Can't see them drop back to the Elida of old though....they'll compete well.
6 Defiance- Loses a few key players, returns quite a bit. Can we find a defense?
7 St. Marys- Still can't beleive how far they've fallen and how quickly. I expect them to bounce back eventually....but probably not in 2012.8
8 Celina- talented on offense. Like Defiance, defense is a huge question. Hard to just outscore the defenses in this league.
9 Bath- No Miller, no Smith. Should be a long year.
10 Van Wert- can't see them being as bad as last year......but will a new coach be enough to climb out of the cellar?

It's time to "call out" the DC like we called out the old OC.

Kenton will come out of the woodwork with a third Mauk brother. His name is Mauk Mauk. (Because he's so good they just named him twice) The T-Shirt he will wear under his uniform will feature Clint Eastwood standing on a pile of WBL helmets with this caption:
"Tell 'em I'm comin'......and I'm bringin' Hell with me."
No, his first name would be "Mauky" !!!!!!!!

At this point if it would help and we could back to just playing toughnosed Defiance defense and win some games, I'd be all for it. No matter what it is.

Defiance has been one of the best coached and toughest group of kids in the WBL the last few years. Play their butts off.

But for whatever reason, they seem to have run out of horses. Are kids transferring out? Is Defiance losing numbers overall?

Get some of those studs on the basketball team at your skill positions.

We're losing kids, but not nearly as quickly as we were. Obviously we dropped from D2 to D3 a few years back and we've stayed there, but we're still among the biggest D3's in the states most of the time. Seems a lot of the big tough kids in the area now go to Tinora....not sure if they're transferring over there or just live out there.

The skill positions on offense aren't terrible, but I would have loved to have been able to put a Kidston or a Herrett at DB the last couple of years. Seems weird. When I was in school just 6-10 years ago, everyone played football and baseball and basketball was just what was played to stay in shape. Now the best athletes seem to play basketball, and of course we'll always get the kids out for baseball. But now football has dropped off. Not sure why we can never get all 3 to be good at the same time. The athletes are obviously good, we just have to get them willing to play and put in the work in all 3.

Only thing I've heard it won't be anyone on the current staff.

Defiance's overall enrollment has dropped about 30% to 40% in last 15 years. They used to graduate 250 per year and now it is around 175. They are not losing athletes via transfer to other schools. Some kids have open enrolled at Tinora and Ayersville, but they are not athletes. The 30% to 40% drop is almost entirely from a disappearing middle class families. The non performing and poor population used to make up 10% to 20% of their enrollment, and now it is closer to 50%. Defiance's problem is related to changing demographics more than anything. They have outstanding coaches in almost every sport, but as stated in the above post, they have seem to run out of horses.

I know wapak will be scrimmaging Lakota West, also will be practicing with them for the whole day and be eating with them.... heard Frye is doing this so they are not scared of the big boys when it comes to playoff time.

I'd assume ours are the same they always are. Bryan and Waite, Lima Senior, and Sylvania Southview.

Shawnee will probably travel to Spencerville and host Napoleon in a scrimmage.

I did here that Frye wanted to make sure that his team was prepared if they made the playoffs this next year.
