I could say the same quote about EVERY coach in the area and there is a 90% chance I'd be correct.
What is cleared up is that this thread was NEVER designed for legitimate discussion. You don't like Dick Kortokrax and started a thread to bash him. You have every right to do this. But please stop pretending you don't have an agenda.

Whatever.
They went to the State Final (blew it) in 09 and for the most part, most believed the cupboard was full and they'd be back.
Now, they lost to Ottawa Hills in reg final and Continental in sect final who both went on to state. So those were good teams and very well coached.
My only point is, this was gonna be the team and right now they are not likely to live up to expectations.
What do they have coming up?

I will say it again. You have the right to your opinions. You think Dick Kortokrax is a bad coach...we get it.
My only contention is that you started a thread to bash the coach and tried to pretend this was not the case. I find that weak. Don't half-step it. Just say..."I think Dick Kortokrax is a bad coach because..." Which by the way, you've done quite nicely since the Jennings loss. Now we know exactly where you are coming from. Your agenda is to prove to us that Dick Kortokrax is responsible for the current underperforming team.

I don't have a habit of commenting on games I don't see in person so for the most part I kept my mouth shut about FJ game....+ Kalida had guys out....so don't put words in my mouth, I don't think he is a bad coach. I do however feel his time has passed and he blew a State Title vs Oak Hill.

I also think alot of the issues with Korto stem from his previous history.....in other words, practicing till wee hours in the morning after a loss, very long tiring practices, discipline issues, and many other issues that have dogged him in the past.....parents and fans hear about this and just shudder....whether those issues were right or not, I am not going to be the judge of that.....I know players that played for Dick in the past.......some loved the guy...some hated him.....and most were starters....so who knows!!!!!

It just doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

You may wanna re-read my post if you came away thinking he "was" a good coach. There isn't another coach around that I would want my sons to play for. The problem with this team and society in general is accountability and responsibility. When I was growing up, if I screwed up I got punished. Nowadays, when kids screw up, the kid and their parents find someone else to blame. These players haven't gotten any better since they were freshmen. Being in the loop like I am, that is not because of bad coaching. It's because these kids have bad attitudes, no work ethic, and no desire to be great. They've been told for years how great they were and how they were gonna win state this year. Because of that, they haven't done diddly poo to improve. Parents and a few others blame Dick. I don't

Alot of the blame....actually most of the blame falls on the kids and their parents.......but really.....Dick as their coach has to shoulder some of this blame also......if he is still the coach that you claim he is, then where is the motivation to make this team better.....somewhere along the way, these team members and their parents lost all respect for Korto....how, why or for what reason, I don't know.....but I do know that if a team respects the coach then this would not be happening......it appears the fear of god is gone....and if this continues, so will the dream team's season!!!!!!

Someone said it earlier...when these kids go home all they hear is how bad of a coach Dick is. When you hear that over and over again, you start to believe it. They are not bad kids, so hopefully my words haven't come across that way.
As for the parents, there are several reasons they don't like Dick but it mostly comes from playing time and the style of play. The seniors that quit this year did so because they didn't wanna be subs. Their parents hate Dick because they think their kids should have been starting and he's the reason they quit. The rest of them think they know basketball better than Dick. People say we need a new coach...they need to be careful what they wish for. If they think they know more than Dick, you better believe they willl be all over some new, young, inexperienced coach. Hopefully the classes coming up have better players and parents. Notice I didn't say talent. Dick can take a team with very little talent and make them a winner if he has respect from the players and parents. Again, I'm not saying the current group are bad people. Just impossible to work with

If this statement is true...hard to see how Dick could be blamed for "losing" the team. Sounds like some "yahoos" might have found their way to authority. There is so much undermining of coaches at home, in the community, and now in positions of authority EVERYWHERE.
There was once a time where the vast majority (parents, administration) agreed that what the coach said and demanded was the final word. Nobody can argue that Dick Kortokrax operated in this system better as good as, and probably better, than anybody. Part of Kalida's successful longevity has been that they were one of the last communities to let go of this tradition.
Now that their parents, and apparently authority in Kalida have decided to endorse the "coddle" method of coaching kids, which has been a tried and true method of the vast majority of surrounding communities for YEARS...well you are starting to see what happens. Ten years from now, Kalida will be like the rest of us...changing coaches every 2-5 years...always placing out hopes on the next great class...instead of placing hopes on a consistent program. Always wondering why all the glowing potential is never realized. And STILL complaining it is not "fun."
I personally liked the Kalida that strived for "excellence." I always thought that "excellence" was what set that community and program apart. I guess they are in the middle of an identity switch. They want to be the "fun" community. As somebody who has been a part of the "fun" brigade for the better part of the past 25 years, I can tell you that putting up signs at the edge of town is a lot more "fun" than watching the yearly march of seniors leave the program...never coming close to meeting their potential...all in the name of "fun."

Yet these same parents expect their kids to play another sport and start the game and play the whole game.
There obviously is no longer any school spirit or loyalty involved.
It looks to me that club sports for all high school sports are becoming closer and closer to reality.

Let's just all form a tunnel and let all the kids run through it. And oh yes, don't forget the treats.

I mean we all know if the masses assure us the senior class is THE CLASS OF ALL CLASSES...the masses must know more about skill development and TEAM building than the winningest coach in Ohio.
I honestly don't know what is or is not happening in Kalida. Maybe Vic and the Kortokrax haters are correct. I have just seen no evidence that supports the allegations that Dick is a sleepy senile child abuser. I have seen 50 years of success...recent and past that suggests Dick Kortokrax is a darn good coach.
If Dick is as cruel and incompetent as some have alleged on this thread, there are some Kalida administrators and school board members who should be facing some charges for allowing this safety hazard to continue.
Absent real evidence to suggest Dick K. is even a tenth as incompetent and abusive as alleged...I think his success has earned him the benefit of the doubt over some internet posters who sound similar to disgruntled players and parents.
