My favorite bars are no longer with us, but anybody from PC in their 30s would remember them. The place I drank beer in HS - G's place and the place I drank mostly during college - Romies! Also, not to forget the place we snuck into for bands was ah can't remember name, was Hoyt's way back when but when we went there it was named something else.

RM-

Gotta give a second to Fish-Mo's. Great place, as is McSober's in Coldwater. My wife and I grew up in Mercer County- I always enjoyed the Chatt Bar, Stateline Bar, St. Anthony Tavern, The Ranch, The Wagon Wheel....

After we got married we lived a hop skip and a jump from The Philothea Country Club. Fish dinners and fish bowl draft beer. Delicious.

And- does anyone know if the St. Joe Store is still open in lovely St. Joe, Ohio, Mercer County?

In Ft. Recovery- Thien Man's. Good place, good people that own it.

Yes, St. Joe store (Home of the Maggots) is still open. I don't think they are open as many hours as they used to be. Thirty years ago, if i wasn't home, you could probably find me there.

I've always liked Butterfingers, but don't like how they get stuck in your teeth, so I would have to say Krackel bars...although the milk chocolate/dark cocoa Godiva bars are damn good too.

We went to St. Joe for Mass the day before Thanksgiving . I tried to talk the wife into making a quick visit to the St. Joe Store after church but she wouldn't go for it. I should've pressed harder!

Platinum Gold is a very nice place in Cbus. Drinks are very reasonable, but they do have a slight cover charge. Also, bring alot of $1 dollar bills, if you know what I mean.

The St Joe Store is still open? What about Ruthy (I think that was her name) that always played rummy for pennies? I love the bars in that area. Fish Mos was always a stop. St Henry nite club (more fun before the fire), Buds in Minster, Burketsville, and McSobers were all our stops. Not many of the original places left around here. Klines in Hamler and Copper Bar in Malinta are still good

I never felt comfortable in Fish-Mos. Seemed like one of those places where you had to be from St Henry to be in there. Always found the Nite Club more hospitable. McSobers has always treated me very well, too.

not much of a bar rat but i do like to frequent Offsides in C-town when I have a chance. know the owner and his brother well and always have a good time around them.

joe, the old peg leg was a great place. i had many of nites in my youth taken away from that place. luckily, that was all i had taken as it could get rough some nites back in the day. towards the end wasn't too bad tho as a younger crowd mingled more.
