I'm not trying to "get" anybody. Flounder is one of the posters I respect most on here. I'm just tired of the Korto bashing on all fronts. We've got a couple threads going this moment where many are lamenting the lack of fundamental basketball in the area.

There may be all sorts of reasons people don't like Dick. I don't know him that well. The few times I've talked to him he has been very nice and respectful. But maybe he is a horrible person who has ruined the lives and potential of so many Kalida basketball players through too much practice time...? I know that I would have cut off my left testicle to get to Columbus...and would have loved to play for Dick Kortokrax.

I also know that Dick Kortokrax coached teams are as fundamentally sound and prepared as any. They still are today. I respect that.

I don't know enough of the rest to comment. But I give the benifit of the doubt to Korto.
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

I think people are overreacting here. Kalida has lost to two very good teams. They will be ready by March for sure!

Jonny, Get lost, you cannot spell worth a SHIRT, and you do not have a clue. Come back when you grow up or are knowledgeable with the topics? Who is your team, are you afraid to say?

What a cakewalk to Regionals......over the years, it seems that Kalida has few teams to challenge them until regional......heck, I think I would stick around and keep coaching also.

2011 - Path to regional went through Continental (16-3) then Col Grove (20-1) Cakewalk?
2010 - Path to regional went through Col Grove (15-6) and Continental (21-2) Little sisters of the poor?
2009 - Path to regional went through DSJ (17-4) and PG (19-3) Cupcakes?
2008 - Path to regional went through PG (17-3), Antwerp (19-3) and WT (18-4) Schools of the blind?

Exactly over what years are you referring to and which one of the above teams is not a challenge? Thanks.

Did they defeat all those teams.....and my reference was to seasons before that in which they ended up in a District where teams were much weaker....in other words, they went to the easiest sectional and district.....much like what is happening this season....besides, those past 4 seasons, I would consider Kalida still the heavy favorite as Coach Kortokrax had been looking forward to, hence his decision not to retire!!!!!

Those are the teams they faced/would've faced in the tourney in the sectional/district. In 3 of those 4 years, the winner of the district Kalida (Conti/Kalida/Wayne Trace) played in went on to the state tourney, hence my argument against "cakewalk" before regional. I would argue the biggest challenges came before the regional. Kalida was 6-2 (loses to WT and Conti, not playing Grove last year) against the teams they played above. Perhaps this year is easy on paper, but it is hardly a trend which you try to argue.

You would be one of the few not to have Grove the heavy favorite last year or Continental the year before or PG the year before that.

To me, it makes sense that a coach would factor in having a good team when retiring.

Flounder,

it takes a man to realize when he is wrong and I for one admire that trait. Thank you!

:coffee:

Are you referring to when they were in the Van Wert sectional? Let's not forget, if Kalida would never have moved out of that sectional, we may not even be having this discussion. :shrug2: I mean they just couldn't get out of Van Wert. It's kind of funny how they just randomly left that sectional and moved to another.

Kalida didn't just run away they were moved to the Bluffton sectional because Crestview and Wayne Trace moved down to D4. Kalida gets bumped around from sectional to sectional due to their location when schools go back and forth between D3 and D4. Kalida has been to the OG sectional, Van Wert sectional, Bluffton sectional, Elida sectional, and now Pualding sectional.

The Elida sectional last year was basically just the Bluffton sectional changing locations. I don't think Bluffton hosted a sectional last year. Anyway the Paulding Sectional is shaping up to be a good one, as they currently stand Miller City (5-4 with a good win at Crestview) , Kalida (5-2), Edgerton ( 6-0), Antwerp (4-2), Holgate (4-4 with the 4 losses being by a total of 10 points, all to good teams) could probably all make it out.

Oh I know I was just poking a little fun here and there :pokey:  I just find it funny that it happened because they just couldn't get out of Van Wert

I don't start judging a team until the official State Polls come out and the tournament begins. By then you will have a better understanding of teams.

I second/third Fort Recovery. They are Columbus good! And will be next year too.

Personally, I believe this would be a smart game for Korto to sleep all the way through.
