Let me say that Jordan Herrera is one of the best players that I have ever played with!
" Herrera is not that good".. That’s like a slap in the face to the kid.. or to say that about any player is a slap in the face to them. He is only a Junior and is already the speaking captain of the team. He is the leading goal scorer and assist leader for his team. One of the most aggressive players in the air or on the ground. A great leader on and off the field. His older brother left him big shoes to fill and I believe he's doing a fine job of filling those shoes!

So to say he is not that good.. thats nonsense.. Herrera is good and one of the best in the area

Good luck Hornets in the post season!

Cory Rawson has a heck of a team this year. And it is true, that Jordan hererra is the leading goal scorer, not just on our team but correct me if im wrong, but isnt he 2nd for ncosa. It was well diserved by CR, make the excuses that you want, CR got the W. It was a good match by both teams, well coached, and well reffed, but CR came up on top.

Rocketman,

To answer your question "is FJ any good".. They have always been good ever since Greg Luthman was coaching them. Their coach now pick up where he left off and has had a strong program ever since. Every team plays other teams that are not that good.. that’s just part of the game.. I believe that they have some tuff games on their schedule. Fort Jennings also won the PCL this year.. not an impressive record to win it with but it got the job done (2-0-3). PCL is very aggressive league and has quality teams. Fort Jennings is a good team and will be for years to come!

..... Speaking of Luthman..He is now the head coach of New Knoxville.. Look for the program to turn around in a couple of years!

Warrior4, you know your stuff. And I agree with you entirely. FJ is a very well balanced team, and they deserve that credit. PCL is a hard place to play, and them and ottoville were the top teams in that league from when i played them this year. A coach can make or break a season, and so far FJ has came up on top in the PCL. But can someone tell me.....the two leagues...PCL, and the NCSOA....which one is better???..I mean there are quality teams in both leagues...PCL has FJ,ottoville, continental,PG, and Miller City, and NCSOA has CR, ADA, and Riverdale.

Speedy,

The only way to find out would be to have an all star game..

NCOSA vs. PCL

Have the first team players from each league play eachother...

I'd pay money to watch that....

nate did graduate in 05, jordan is his younger brother. he's not nearly the player nate was, he is very good though, just doesnt get involved in the offense very often. they have another forward who's pretty decent. but he's got a mouth on him and his teammates seem to have a problem with his attitude.

How can you say that he dosen't get involved in the offense that much when he is the hornets leading goal scorer?

I can see where your coming from bvc, but when you really need him, he is good in the clutch. And he isnt just the leading goal scorer for CR, he is 2nd in NCOSA. He does have some faults, but he isnt too bad.

bvc20, you seem to contradict yourself. you say you hardly even noticed that jordan was even on the field and yet you somehow seem to know that he backed down in competetion. if you didn't notice he was on the field than how can you know how he played????!!!! Let's just face it, Jordan is an excellent soccer player. that's all there is to it!

To answer the question of IS CR ANY GOOD.

They are a young team with alot of talent that beat the teams they should, lost to the good teams and played good in their ties. Their biggest win was obviously the FJ game last saturday. They tied Miller City, Continental and PG. They do play in the so called league called the NCOSA and had 5 easy wins their. Not sure who they beat in their non conference games. But atleast they play a decent non conference schedule against all PCL teams except Kalida. 1-1-3 vs PCL this year, not to bad. Should help them in the tourney.

When I say young team I believe they only have 1 senior on the team and that is the Hunter boy who is a threat any time he touches the ball. Next year the Hornets might be a team everyone needs to watch out for with all that experience coming back.

As for the comments on the Herrera kid. I had the opportunity to see his older brother Nate play and all he did was stand up front and waite for the long ball to played to him and then he scored on fast breaks. They also padded his stats against the very weak teams they played. He never did anything against the good teams because if a team had a good defender all it took was one man to mark him up and shut him down. The younger brother who I think is a Junior plays in the midfield and controls the game from them. He is from what I've seen and heard from others a far more complete player than his older brother ever was.

Plus I believe they have a new coach this year and that usually means this should have been a rebuilding year for them.

So to recap I believe they are a decent team this year, but the lack of experience in key positions especially the defense and goalie positions hurt them against good teams this year. Next year they should not be underestimated.

You have got to be kidding Man U! Nate Herrera was an outstanding soccer player. Still is! He is playing college soccer as a starter on the varsity team. He accomplished that as a college freshman last year! Now that says a lot. To have accomplished that is awesome! When he played for C-R he played at midfield and forward. he worked hard all over the field. to say "that he waited for the long ball" is totally false. He has got some amazing soccer talent and soccer skill. He didn't make 3rd team All-Ohio three years in a row for nothing!! The other coaches who voted for him obviously thought he was more than "good" !

Futbol4u2, I'm pretty sure if my memory is correct nate scored most of his goals against very weak teams and very rarely scored against the good ones. In the games I went to watch just to see what all the talk was about I was unimpressed. If a good defender marked him up he was pretty much shut down. I tend to judge great players by what they do in games that really matter and he never showed up in the games I saw him play in. He seemed like a player who thought he was above the team. And the old coaching staff seemed to think the same thing. They clearly ran the score up on poor teams in order to pad his stats. If he got the ball taken away from him he never tried to get it back he just went back to the half line and waited until someone kicked it up there to him. Again I only watched 6 or 7 of his games throughout his career, but it was the same thing every time. If he had been on a PCL team he would have just been an average player statistically and would have been a better all around player.

As for what this topic is really about. IS CR ANY GOOD. I believe they are a decent team that is young and inexperienced this year. I believe they only have 1 senior this year and that is the Hunter kid. He is a threat everytime he touches the ball. They lack experience at the defensive end of the field and in the keeper position mostly. I didn't recognize anyone back their this year. The samsal kid from last year was clearly a huge hole to fill.

In the past I always thought of CR as a very good recreation level team. And thats not the players fault I blame that all on coaching. This year from what I've heard their new coach is trying to teach them how to play soccer the correct way and it has been a learning year for them. With pretty much their whole team returning next year look for good things out of the hornets.

The younger herrera kid is far better in my opinion than nate was and whats great about this country is that I'm entitled to my opinion and your entitled to yours.

Now about nate being a 3rd team all-state player 3 years in a row. I've been around long enough to know that stats seem to be the only thing that matters most of the time in the voting. Most other coaches have never seen the kid play or know who they played in order to get those stats and just see a big number up there and say wow thats pretty good. Thats probably why his coaches padded his stats. The second thing at these meetings is that most of these league coaches all sit in a group and agree to vote for each others players in order to get them more points than they deserve and players who should be there are left out because of politcs. Thats unfair to those kids.

I am curious to hear about who nate plays for at the next level. Here is what I can see. He plays for a small traditionally poor soccer program that rarely gets good players and since nate was a quality high school player he was able to earn a starting spot. I'll even venture to guess that he doesn't play forward or even center mid. My guess is an outside mid position. I would be curious to see his stats over the past 2 seasons. If I'm wrong I apologize. I just can't see him playing in a good soccer program at a big school.

Man U , you must be a Nate hater from the past. that's ok. There were plenty of those! the fact that you are still discussing Nate Herrera goes to show that he's a player worth discussing. the kid graduated a couple of years ago and he is still being talked about. Go Nate!!! As for college - how many kids actually go on to play D-1 soccer. If you want to sit on the bench go for it. You have a better opportunity to play at D-2 or D-3 . that he is playing college soccer is success in itself. i would like to see how many PCL players are playing college soccer. His "old coaches" should have told him to his face if they thought negative thoughts about their own player. ( his old coaches thought Nate thought he was above the rest ).

you really can't just say nice things about Nate. that you want to make him out to look bad is just very "mature".......
