If I can find some AAA batteries I'll plug this into my old scientific calculator. A normal calculator will come back 0, but those aren't programmed to take order of operations into affect at all. So whatever the scientific one says is what I'd believe is right.

Just have to find those damn batteries lol.

Searched for a scientific calculator online (Web 2.0 scientific calculator) and plugged it in. It says 14.

That's exactly what I did. PLugged it into my old TI-83. Got 14. Whatever it is, it's definitely not 0. I asked one of my high school math teachers, too, just for backup. He gave me the same answer.

I did it on my TI-81 where you could put the whole sentence in.

There is no need for this person to use any calculator except the gray matter between my ears. This answer is definitely 14. I would put my degree and job on it. The 1 x 0 is done first with order of operations as multiplication is don before addition or subtraction. Then go left to right with the rest of it. 14 without a doubt. Let us end this discussion!!!

Being the one who used the calculator, there really was no reason for me to use it either. It's 14. Just wanted to get confirmation from the calculator because there was the argument. Figured the easiest way to settle it was letting the machine do the work.
