Does medical care coverage fall primarily on the individual player, the team or the league?
What about catastrophic injury coverage?
My concern is for the player that sees this as his first or last shot and then suffers a devastating injury that could affect their ability to financially take care of themselves in the future.

Just a couple of nights ago, we signed on our team physician, Dr. Sanko of The Orthopedic Institute of Ohio. Our primary concern is the players, everything we do revolves around them. Without quality, healthy players, we will not have an opportunity to succeed.
In addition, I have been speaking with a few insurance companies about options that we may have to cover the guys while they are under contract with us. I haven't come to any final decisions yet as to carriers or types of insurance, but I can assure you that it is high on our priority list.

I would hope that you would want all of that in place, even before try-outs, just as a cover-your-hiney measure. I hold no ill will towards you or your other investors and I wish you luck in your new venture, but without that basic foundation already in place I am dubious at best. Young people who are chasing their dreams are often the easiest to lead down the primrose path.

On a side note, when (if) each of you guys comes to a game in Elida, please find me and introduce yourself. While I'm not the greatest at remembering names, I always like to meet the people that I'm talking to.
Good luck. You may have a small group that appreciate this type of talent, but most would be just as happy going down to the local rec league or playground and watching that talent. You're going to have a tough time getting a family of four to shell out $40 for a basketball game.

Way to give things a chance before they happen. Do you also sit around and bitch about how there's nothing to do in Lima all the time too?

In my reply I just stated my opinion, nothing more nothing less. No the glass is not always half empty, but I just came to my conclusion based on the realities of todays world on a local level. Part of the problem is that nobody out there wants to deal with the realities of todays world. The fact of the matter is that it is rough out there for the average Joe. Just coming up with the mortgage payment, the car payment, everyday household necessities like food takes a lot of money out of everybodys paycheck if there is one coming in. Add to that the cost of gas to drive to go to these games if there is any driving to do and you can appreciate the reality of a lot of peoples situation both long and short term. I truly hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. Pro basketball just will not be a success in Lima irregardless of who is on the team, it is just the reality of the situation.

It's still going to be cheaper than taking the kids to cleveland, cincy, ft wayne or detroit to see a game....way cheaper.

Call me a skeptic but I don't think your comparing apples to apples. Who in their right mind would drive to any of those cities to watch a semi-professional game? Obviously if you are going to watch a Cavs or Pistons game you are going to pay alot more.....but the product that you are paying to see is much higher caliber than what you will be watching in Lima. I'm not wishing bad on the Explosion and I hope they prove me wrong but right now I agree with Dakota Green that this is going to be a tough sell in this economy.
