I for one will check out a game and see whats going on. If I like it, more. "THE PROPHETS" opinion of this venture will be reported purely on a --- was it worth the price of admission. Hopefully, THE PROPHET can give a good report [fans will flock], otherwise...... As you might of been able to tell, its most important to get a good comment from THE "P" if you are to be successful. biggrin.gif

I wonder what the price of admission to these games will be? If it is reasonable, I may check out a game or two like L-Jock. But I am not forking over much $$$$ to watch this.

I remember my dad taking me to some Lima Mixers games back in the day, I have no idea how much the price of admission was then because I was so young, but I'm guessing it wasn't much.

P.S. not sure of the origin of the name, but Lima Mixers was a cool name. I think for a short period of time they went by the name Northwest Ohio Mixers. Not a big fan of the nickname Explosion.

Lima Mixers.....aka Ohio Mixers...name from (if not mistaken) was derived from the family business who originally owned them was a concrete company

See Link and scan down to "Ohio Mixers" 1982-1983 CBA

Interesting, thanks, Adog.

I think one of the part-owners of this venture back in the early 80's was former UNLV runnin' Reb Tom Sawyer, who's son played for LCC about 10 years ago.

Name does ring a bell, but many years have passed. I know the Sawyer name was part of the ownership, but not sure of the 1st name.

Website says tickets as low as 10 a game when you buy 15 home games at 125.

I'm going to venture a guess that you get the 10 a game only when you get the 15 home game package. I'm thinking it's going to be 12 to 14 a single game ticket.

And are kids going to be free? To promote that family atmosphere?

Gen Admin Tickets are $10 and the season tickets are $125 - that pretty much covers almost everywhere but the reserved seating behind the benches. VIP Seating beside and immediately behind the benches as well as court side seating opposite of the benches are all available for an increased rate up to $20 per ticket, but for sponsors, those tickets are given for their advanced support of the team. I'd rather that we didn't have to sell a single VIP or court side seat because of the tickets that are given to sponsors.

To be perfectly honest, we haven't established a kid policy yet. There will definitely be a "__ and under are free" type of situation but I'm not sure what that is yet. What do you think is reasonable? I'm up for suggestions. I think 8 years old is old enough to stay attentive and watch an entire game rather than wanting to be up and around running around the facility. We don't want people wasting their money to have their kid running around the Elida Fieldhouse and I don't want to get in trouble with the school for kids getting into bathrooms and causing problems. I feel if the ticket price is set appropriately, the people who want to watch the games will pay for a ticket and those who feel that their kid will just be running around the whole time will leave them at home. With that said, I want all of the kids possible at these games because that means there is a genuine interest in basketball in the community and that will only help to continue to grow our programs as a whole at every level. My philosophy in any sport is to watch it, learn it, live it and love it. I know that I'm not going to bring my kids around if they're not willing to sit and watch the game, but that may just be my attitude.

You could have a _______ and under get in free, a reduced price for all students that goes for all games, or just certain nights (random or deisgnated) where everyone under the age of 18 gets in free.

You would be correct about Sawyer. In fact, back in the day, Coach Seg in his early years had to share the Lima Senior gym with the Mixers, and share practices.

Believe it or not the guy's name was Tom Sawyer. The cement plant in his family was over off Spencerville rd. and Shawnee rd. He was about 6' 7" and I believe played his high school ball in the Lima area. It was many moons ago but if I remember right he got into some trouble with the law . I think this was after the Lima semi pro team was over and done with. Only the guys who are getting the ball rolling on this current venture know the dollar number it will take to survive but it will certainly be a monumental task. This type of thing needs an anchor sponsor and who would first qualify and be willing to risk the dough. In my opinion Lima doesn't have that anchor sponser. Maybe a Cooper Tire or some major factory in another close by town would risk it. Too many un answered questions at this time to take this very seriously.

Single Game Ticket:$4.00

Children under 12:$2.00

Senior Citizens:$2.00

Season Ticket Plans
Season Tickets (20) games:$40.00

Senior Citizen/Student Pass:$20.00

Family Plan (Set of 4)$120.00 ($30.00 each additional)

Groups of 25 or more$2.00 per ticket

Nothing against the Lima Locos here, but I think you're severely underestimating the talent level that's going to be on these teams. This is professional basketball, not college basketball with guys "hoping" to play professionally.

On a side note, when (if) each of you guys comes to a game in Elida, please find me and introduce yourself. While I'm not the greatest at remembering names, I always like to meet the people that I'm talking to.

I definitely like that idea. I plan on having a different promotion at every game and I like the everyone under 18 promotion. Thanks!

J.B.,

Any chance that religious icons like "THE PROPHET" will be a discounted or free rate???? rolleyes.gif

Seriously, how about a family of four [2 parents, 2 kids ages 6-15] for $20 bucks which includes four small popcorns and four small drinks. Additional kids are $4 per kid and they also get the popcorn drink deal.

ha I'll definitely see what I can do. Maybe we can run a special "Rocketcorner" promotion - we can trade advertising and in exchange, Rocketcorner can give a pair of tickets to one member per game. In exchange, we'll provide a link on our website listing the Rocketcorner as the most objective, unassuming sports message board in Ohio... just a thought.

I like the idea of including food and drinks but I'll have to talk to the school on that one. I'm trying to give the school an opportunity to make more than just gym rental out of the deal, so I'd like to give the boosters the opportunity to run the c-stand. If they're willing to comp the food & beverages, I'm willing to create the promotion.
