OSU has a #1 seed locked down IMO.
Now if they get bounced their 1st game of the B10 tourney that COULD be in jeopardy.

Back to Craft......
I will hold out on speculating on his future until next year when Shannon Scott joins the mix.
A lot will change when he suits up for OSU.

So you are trying to SAy this Scott kid is going to take away his playing time next year, after Matta has invested all this time in him this year?

Also I hope I did this right but in case some of you never seen him play football here is a link to some football highlights.

http://www.scoutingohio.com/index.php/view...le&user=430

They left off I think two of his better ones, but there are some pretty good ones here.

2 totally different players. Scott is more like Conley. Straight up stud....
They can still use Craft, a lot....

It's really gonna depend what WB does. I think he and Thomas will go pro so then Craft & Scott would start with Smith & Sibert as backups.

Do you really think DeShaun Thomas is ready? Or is his eligibility in question.........he seems a long way from being NBA ready.

Thomas is only averaging 14 minutes a game. Never gave it a thought that he might leap. IMO, if he jumps it will be a big mistake. If stays and improves his overall game in the next year or 2 I`d think it would be to his benefit.

Thomas is a defense liability is why his minutes had drastically gone down. Matta wants D and if you do not play it, you sit.

They need Thomas to be productive if they want to go very far in the tournament. It's a shame because he has offensive skills. His shot selection is a problem as well.

Pro? No way.

Who's ever "ready" anymore?
Nah, he ain't ready, but he can play. Bigtime scorer with a nose for the ball.
The draft is garbage this year, not a franchise guy to be found.
He's not gonna improve or learn anything under Matta.

The fact that he is from Indiana and has been compared to Oden & Conley in terms of overall great players from the State of IN.......he will go......

I can't believe it I have to agree with Vic. I don't think he goes after this year though, WB will be a big key if he stays or goes. I hope he stays just from a fans stand point, but when you waive $$ at you, it is hard to turn down. And what really makes a difference this year or next. Like Vic said the draft will not have any studs, or big names to really compete with. Thomas has an NBA body and nobody really plays defense in the NBA. The NBA isn't much different from the HS or college in that stand point. You have those players who are your defenders, but most teams are looking for scorers, and just think they can teach them to play D. And like Vic said, I think Thomas is only trying to improve is draft status. he will Never play defense the way Matta wants him to. Not in his nature. He was terrible getting back out on the shooter against Illinois..but Matta had to leave him in. Who else he going to play when starters get in foul trouble.

Thomas can score from the locker room if they give him the ball. (well he would actually try to score from there) tongue.gif

Scott may be a stud, but I don't think Craft will lose his point guard position. Craft plays defense, and Matta will want him on the floor to defend the other teams better guards, and I willing to bet Scott doesn't like to play defense as well as Craft. I aslo don't see Craft as a number 2 guard.

Is smith the guy from Illinois?

Yea, Lenzelle Smith is from Illinois..
Gotta disagree on the "not playing defense in the NBA" argument. They really D it up come playoff time.

I have no idea what they will do with Shannon Scott when he gets to OSU but man can that dude play.
He did average 2.5 steals a game so at least plays enough defense to step into the passing lanes! lol

I guess I should have clarified. They don't play any defense any better than what they did in college. Anthony isn't playing alot of defense, and yes he steps it up to a point. Point is I see Thomas's defense being adequate for the NBA, more so than what Matta wants him to play,
Just my opinion.

Sounds like this Scott kid, can step in then for LIghty or Bufford as a scoring threat. Losing alot of scoring next year. Diebler, Bufford, and Lighty. Well if thomas goes, then all you will have is Sullinger for the scoring. I do agree that right now Craft is scoring out of openings and to keep defenses honest on him, but next year, he will have to become alittle more aggressive on scoring. Since those guys will be gone.

I'm kinda leaning towards Sully leaving too. He's got to strike while the iron is hot and he could be a top5 pick at this point. Lots of $ to turn down......

He'll stay. He had to know he had some opportunity and would have offers would he told Matta he would give him at least two years. Not to mention his dad is a coach, and I don't see him allowing his son to make that promise and not hold him to it. Just my opinion.
Craft is staying though... laugh.gif

Watching Indiana game ( i know Indiana is down, but) does anyone think Aaron will make all-defensive team this year for the Big Ten?

I definitely think he has a shot. He has shown he can play against some of the better guards. Do coaches vote?

Speaking of this game. Let's have a round of applause for the refs, because they definitely wanted to be seen today. My gosh, I didn't think this game would ever get over. Every time someone touched each other. Game could not get any flow to it.
Pitt, Lousiville game was better.

I am not sure if the coaches vote the all team players or not...pretty sure they do. I agree that Aaron has a shot at being on the all defense team. Hell, he would have a shot as freshman of the year in Big Ten if was not for another freshman teammate of his...lol

Well let's see here, he's the best defender on the number one team in the Big Ten right? Dang, you'd have to think he has a pretty good shot at making that All-Defensive team. Too bad the boys that broadcast the games aren`t the ones doing the voting because if that were the case he'd be a lock.

Well tonight will be another big test for him. Penn St.'s guards are quick, that Battle kid is pretty fast. Craft did a good job on him the first time, will be interesting to see how he does round two and on the road.

I notice on the incoming recruits, that there is high praise on this Scott from GA. It also looks like maybe they got some bigs that can take some pressure off of Sullinger next season. I wonder if Weatherspoon will ever get his grades up so he can play. Word on the street is he can jump and rebound like no bodies business.
