I believe there are several good candidates that have inquired. Your local "lefty" and a BVC coach and a PCL coach. If the A.D. does hire then would this give the ol' lefthander an inside track? If he played with or for the A.D. as a player then he's in. The BVC coach also has ties with OG being his alma mater. The PCL coach is a little more of a long shot-but this I feel could be the choice just to start with "new" blood instead of any ties with OG. Remember, your much maligned coach was also an OG grad. Just my opnion for what's it worth.

Bron,
Word is that one of the candidates has taken his hat out of the ring...........with OG's baseball tradition they could probably wait until April before making a decision....... wink.gif zoooom

Look for Nick Miller if OG has a elemenary job available. Look for Kaufman (crafty lefty) if the A.D. wants a safe pick to keep the parent factor quiet. My guess is Swick from Ft. Jennings. You heard it first here cyoballa.

I just think that the Crafty lefty would be the best man for the job at this time. He would be a great coach and he would of course make the parents happy. If the parents are happy then pretty much everyone is happy!!!!

It's not going to happen. OG will head in a new "direction" and having an OG grad as good a guy as he must be and popular with the parents won't do. The A.D. will be in charge of hiring and he will probably not be dictated to by parents & players who THEIR choice is. In other words - he's taking control back. Therefore, as I said days ago- get ready for the PCL influence to the program. If not, then the second choice would be a OG grad with high school coaching experience from the BVC. Like it or not.

What is going on here? Im sorry but im a little confused as to why there still hasnt been a coach hired. Obviously its not the Miller guy because school is begging. So couldnt we say its down to Jennings and The Lefty?

I haven't said anything for awhile but this is CRAZY. If OG needed a Basketball or Football Coach it would of been urgently taken care of. This is just another example of how the person in charge has no interest in rebuilding the program.

Rocket,
while at the boys soccer game last night there were a few names mentioned. I guess if they take long enough maybe no one will notice!

I have been following this thread for some time and haven't replied, until now. The process of O-G hiring a new coach has been an on-going ordeal, however, I do think that they are doing the right thing by taking their time. The O-G administration and athletic departments have the tough task of hiring a new coach to lead the program back to where it has been, as well as making two communities happy. Even though I haven't posted on this topic in the past, I have, however, kept myself up to date on the happenings through friends that are more "in-the-know" than I am. I'm not sure who has applied for the coaching vacancy, other than what I have read on here, but I think the players, parents, and citizens of the two communities need to embrace the new coach. I've read on here how some want the "local" guy, and some have said that O-G needs to start fresh with someone outside of the community. Many voices have been heard on the reasoning for wanting coach Myers out, however, the comminuity needs to support whatever decision is made. O-G does not need to garner the reputation as being a Coach-Eater. I am from another school district within the county and wish nothing but the best for all of our communities. I ask that the Ottawa-Glandorf communities and district support their school, teachers, administrators, and coaches. We have seen in the past how communities and school systems have become divided over issues and how long it takes to mend the wounds.

How can the people of Ottawa Glandorf support a coach if we don't have one? The problem is that we have no leader or recruiter (in school) to promote the baseball program for the upcoming season. There should have been someone in place when School started. Hiring a new coach late in the year will put the new coach at major disadvantage going into the next season. I can't imagine not having a Basketball coach around to monitor summer play or not having a Football Coach around when the players are lifting & conditioning during the off season. Oh well it's just baseball and the people in charge MUST NOT CARE!

Well It is a good chance the new coach is not going to be a teacher.....so how is the new coach going to recruit kids....when he is working outside OGHS? If the new coach was not hired during summer acme, which I think should have been done so that he could put his stamp on things, it does not matter when the coach is hired now...baseball does not start for months....and kids are not going to stop playing basketball or football to take swings anyways....so the result is going to be the same no matter when or who they hire....ask coach myers how it is competing with summer basketball, soccer, and football.

I disagree with you Cake-eater. The boys that are not in basketball will be out at the new bus barn this winter hitting if that new cage is up. I look for a coach to be hired SOON. The players that are not in winter sports need to start right away to get things rolling and prove that there is some talent on this years team.

Rocketman-
On August 14th I as well as others on "the other" site said that Nick was the logical choice. I just felt that Al Laubenthal would "show" those parents who was in control and choose entirely outside of the Og family. Otherwise I think Nick is a good choice and that the fatherly influence will have dad in the fold. Heck it happened at AllenEast with the old football coach helping his son at Marion Local then returning to AE to help out that program. Look for Ted Sr. to step in and add the discipline.
Within 2 years, Og could be mentioned in the same breath with the Tom Held's , Gregg Inselman's and Jim McBride's & Jim Wharton's of the world in successful area baseball programs.
