Diebler can play and is playing. See he is a college player, and possibly can play in the NBA doing just what he is doing shooting 3's. but if not for whatever reason he doesn't make the NBA. I am still wondering how you can say he can't ball when he starting for a D1 , currently ranked number 2 team in the country (primarily because of soft early scheduling). What because he can't drive the lane. Not everyone playing basketball has to be able to break the defense down with driving to the lane. You don't have to be A. I. to play ball.

I think it is funny when the criticism of these players is what he can't do at the next level. Not looking at the level they are playing and how much time they are playing currently and what they have done in the current career.
Diebler by the way has had scouts tell him, that NBA teams do look for 3 pointer shooters, to work on his ball handling, but to continue to work on his shooting technique.
I think the Celtics have a guy who has made a career shooting threes...... cool.gif

No he isn't your right. But AJ Rettig is playing and he couldn't drive to the hole either.

The difference between Jon Diebler & Aaron Craft and all wanna be's on this thread. They both have worked hard to put themselves in a postion to have an opportunity to play in the NBA someday. Where most people on this thread can only dream of playing in the NBA. Laugh and criticize all you want; they are both in a much better place athletically than all on here.

I am not saying either one of these players will every play a minute in the NBA; I am only stating they have a far better chance than anyone on here!

I could see Diebler getting a shot at the NBA, his biggest thing is going to be ball handling and defense. For those who may remember, I'd compare him to a Steve Kerr, John Paxon or Chuck Person. Ray Allen is a much, much more complete player than any of these guys. Allen was in Milwaukee for so long, no one knew him. He's been strickly a shooter in Boston in the later part of his career.

I am not sure I would compare his game to any of the above players. I would actually compare Diebler most to Chris Jent and not because he was a "Buckeye" but because they are similar in the fact that they are one dimensional players, that also bring some other positive intangibles with them to the table as well. Chris Jent's path is posted below:

Career information
College Ohio State
NBA Draft 1992 / undrafted
Pro career 1994–1997
Career history
As player:
Houston Rockets (1993-1994),
North Melbourne Giants(Australia, 1994-1995),
Serie A (basketball) (Italy, 1995-1996),
Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (Spain, 1996),
A1 Ethniki (Greece, 1996),
New York Knicks (1996-1997)

And one more thing about Chris Jent.....He wears an NBA Championship ring...something someone who hired Chris to be his shooting coach does not have

Loved Chris Jent. Do the Cavs count as an NBA team?

Is AJ Rettig any relation to JJ Redick? They sound a lot alike.

Thad Matta after the game. "Aaron Craft can score we just haven't ask him to. So it is not suprise to me he had such a good night. They chose not to guard him, and he step up for us. "

Craft and Sullenger both had nice games tonight. He also played really good defense tonight too, against a couple of pretty quick guards.

And so I probably jumped the gun on Diebler and the NBA dry.gif But he still a good college player.

Being from NW Ohio I bet you that Aaron Craft reads the Rocketcorner. Which leads this poster to believe he must have got on here at the beginning of the year and has kept up with the postings about him on this thread. So while I`m sure Aaron won`t get on here to thank those that have helped fuel his engine this year with the negative comments I`d like to take this opportunity to thank those people for him.
And just for the sake of argument , Craft is not just a freshman player for the new number 1 team in the country. He is a KEY player on that team and perhaps the straw that stirs the drink because he plays more like a senior point guard with great court sense squarely sitting above his shoulders.

Diebler reminds me a lot of Kyle Korver. I could see him getting a shot at the NBA, simply because he can carry a team for a stretch when he's hot.

His brother is a poster so its not that far fetched that Aaron could get on from time to time.
