I agree 100%...
I like both wrestlers so Im not a fair opinion lol...
Both DAMN good wrestlers, and alot of fun to watch... I dont know if there will be alot of change in weight for these two, but I do wonder if they will adjust what the wrestle for the WBL

Thanks everyone!
I don't think I was bad mouthing a wrestler at all, just stating that I disliked his behavior,
"Just don't like wrestlers that talk trash while sitting in and amongst the fans of opposing teams." I enjoy watching Meeks wrestle, he is aggressive and expects to win. I like that. As far as the wrestlers being teenagers, that does not give them an excuse to be disrespectful to fans or parents of opposing teams. If they want to talk trash, do it in the locker room.
But back to the original thread and what I posted earlier. Why couldn't a wrestler be ranked #1 in the area in two weight classes. We have MMA and boxing champs with multiple belts. I have been to freestyle tournaments where guys wrestled two weight classes and won them both. So if an area wrestler jumps between two weight classes throughout the year to beat the best at those weight classes, shouldn't he be ranked first?

I will admit that the #1 ranking in two different weight classes didn't seem possible to me at first, but I think I've changed my mind as I've thought more about it. If a wrestler is bouncing back and forth, you can't really correctly rank him at either weight. I'd say he'd either have to be left off, or be ranked at both, imo. Some wrestlers will wrestler up occasionally to give their team a better chance in a dual, but this is not the same to me. It could be something to consider??

1 - Colin McDermitt, Shawnee
2 - Colt Lovejoy, Allen East
3 - Aaron Mershman, St. John's
4 - Nate Valentine, Wapak
5 - Dylan Kleman, Columbus Grove
135
1 - Zavier Meeks, Bath
2 - Kyle Miller, Shawnee
3 - Cameron Clemens, Wayne Trace
4 - Justin Pryor, Allen East
5 - Zack McCarthy, Defiance
Just using McDermitt as an example
He has beat 130 #2 and #3. He faces #4 Thursday. If he wins he maintains #1 at 130. When Shawnee faces Bath he beats 135 #1. Since 135 rankings are from different schools (exception is AE) when Shawnee faces these teams he bumps to 135. He defeats them all. Would you place him number one in both classes? No disrespect to Miller. Shawnee's line up is capable of going up and down for the most part as seen in previous matches. And this is just all speculation and for fun.

Not to be odd, but I think that's simply a very odd way of looking at things...
With that logic, a 285 lb kid who is tops at his weight class should be ranked first in
every weight class to include 103... Seeing how he can beat all the other kids...
I thought that was the whole idea behind weight classes... If the 130lb kid
can beat 130-152 then he should be ranked first? Naaa, in the weight class he wrestles for the
year, qill qualify at and more than likely make state at should be his ranked class IMHO

The whole idea behind the area ranking would be worthless if a wrestler could be ranked in more than one weight class. It is up to the wrestler to bump up and challenge another number one, which will give him bragging rights but should not rank him in both weight classes unless of course he stays there for more than two weeks consecutively. If he stays at another weight class for more than two weeks he should be moved to that weight class and forgo his ranking in his previous weight class.
These young men will grow and bump around throughout the year; however there is a weight class that each will have to settle into for sectionals. That is where the coaches that are ranking come into play... I guess it is their best guess to where a wrestler should be positioned but never in more than one weight class!

As far as I know you can only compete in ONE weight class during a dual, tourney, invitational, and so forth.
Which means that at the end of the day a wrestler can only be awarded a championship in ONE weight class...
SO, with that being said One ranking one weight!!!...

But things also work in the opposoite direction. There is an example of a coach who has wrestled his kid at 215 alot this year but asked he be ranked at heavyweight because that is where he will settle once the season draws to an end. So he is ranked at heavy weight and not at 215, even though he could make the line up at either weight.
Kids that we know are going to drop but havent made the cut yet, they stay up at the heavier weight until we see proof that they actually certified down to the lower class.

Well coach, you took all the speculation out of it. Now we can't argue about it anymore!

he wasnt at the Tri on Thursday... And a few of his fellow wrestlers were saying
that he isn't part of the team anymore... But that is 2nd hand info, Im not sure...
I will say that if the truth is he did quit, that has to be a blow not only to his family, but the team
and his fans around the state... To have so much talent its just suprising...
