Crazy - until your AD, and football coach support wrestling - OG will continue to struggle. It's not easy getting respect when most of the community sees OG as a BB school during the winter. OG used to have one of the better wrestling programs in the WBL and area when Ron Nesset (sp?) and Herb Purton were coaching - never been the same since them.

first of all og's football coach does highly support the wrestling team, there are some very good fb players for og that are also on the wrestling team.
and secondly, you cannot blame the coaching..ken is a great coach and a man

I agree completely og has had alot of talented wrestlers that are football players. Also the team has been helped greatly by the wrestling coaches. I think the wrestlers really just dont care about wrestling!

What does Coach Shriner have to do with coaching the wrestling team!!! Not only that -you will see most of those football players on the wrestling team have fathers that wrestled as well as played football. Not only that - both of you Straightman and Crazy - from your replys and questions - don't exactly present much of an arguement with statements like "same crappy team like every other year" and "yeah, I heard they really blow this year." Not exactly opinions that have much validity.

As a team maybe the wrestlers aren't what you are expecting. There are a couple potential State Qualifiers on OG this year. One of which has a desire to be on the mat year round almost. So, lumping the whole team together might not be exact. Also, with the talent on the team and maybe coming up, a little more push in the room might be a good thing.
There is more to OG wrestling then Mr. Seifker.

I heard the wrestlers spent their holiday break running in the halls, and didnt even bother to get out the mats. Sounds like some real dedication

Wyatt Karhoff is entering his junior year at OG and did very good this year as a sophomore. He is 6'4" 225 lbs and very strong. Look for him at state the next two years.

If he keeps doing what he's doing he'll be like Jeff sefker in state

possibly better, if you have seen Karhoff wrestle you would think he was a senior. He has 2 more years to get where Siefker got and I think he could be one of the top wrestlers in the state when his tenure at OG is over.

Any football coach that knows anything about wrestling would have everyone of his football players (maybe not the QB) on the wrestling team. Jeff Siefker and Wyatt Karhoff are first cousins. They come from families with a wrestling background. I wish Shriner would push more kids to go out for wrestling. I think the football and wrestling teams would benefit greatly.

i dont think that wrestling is as big a sport at OG as it is at other schools. many kids play basketball and CYO.
