I was just thinking about this....... This will be 'giving away' ppls identity.... Only an issue for those who like their anonymity here. Not all of us were clever enough to come up with names on facebook that aren't really ours. rolleyes.gif

I was thinking more about this. How does it give your identity away? When you click like it, it goes to your wall, but it does not tell anybody what your rocketcorner name is. Just because you like it does not mean you posted it. In fact even guests without RC names can click they like it. It will go to their walls and they don't even have a RC name. Try it, you need not be logged in to like a topic. This may give guests who wish not register a name a way to promote the RC brand. Also, gives members a way to do it, without giving away their identity.

Look below it says Rockets corner and Tammy Hut likes this. But it doesn't say what their names are on Rocketcorner.com

When I clicked like, it gave my real name, not my RC name...So then all the wonderful people here would know my name...

Yes, totally understood....but, with all the various info that ppl put on their fb pages, it wouldn't be hard to put some RC posters together with their real identity if searched out....Information often listed on fb, such as, school/college attended, occupation, area where they live(d); couple that with posting styles, their personal ideologies, etc., just general information that ppl divuldge in everyday posting here, I don't think it'd be too hard to figure out some/many rolleyes.gif .... and if you happened to be a 'friend' with someone already on fb & you saw their name at the bottom of one of the threads, especially if they tend to mainly posts in particular school/league threads, I think that'd make it SUPER EASY to put 2+2 together...... unlike the elusive RM! happy.gif
Of course they couldn't tell whether you actually posted any particular posts, but, I think there are plenty of clues that would connect the dots & make it hard to deny for some.

I understand that that's not really our concern, how much info ppl decide to divulge about themselves anywhere, just was pointing out it may be a reason why members we already do have may opt out from using this one particular option.

One other thing..... Are we going to be able to have the 'topic rating' available in the other forums as well as trivia?

It gives your real name but how do they know that name is front row joe? Unless of course your name is Joe something. Which I have no idea.

I guess what I was getting at is if my name is Joe Blow, my screen name is frontrowjoe, it when I hit like, it comes up Joe Blow, not frontrowjoe...I guess maybe they wouldnt know which gut is Joe blow, but it just would make it easier to guess screen names (which many know mine anyhow) just protecting out fearless leader....lol

C what you mean. Okay I changed the button to only show the number of people who like it and not include their names. This should solve the identity problem - I think. What do you think now? You can click like it and your name will not come up on the bottom.

Can't people just read a few posts within a topic and decide whether they like it or not? Are our comprehensive abilities now so lacking that we need Facebook to tell us whether something is good or bad? Can people no longer decide for themselves whether or not they agree with a particular topic or post? Can people no longer wipe their stinky little butts without someone else's approval?

Geesh!
