Man, there are a lot of haters on here. Bringing up Chapman is such perfect timing it's not even funny. The Reds in my mind have the best team in baseball this season. They are the complete team. Youth, speed, power, pitching, all aspects you need to win and look what's happening!

Wow, what a run the Reds have had since the St. Louis series. They were a game out at the end of the day August 13, and are going to be 5 - 7 games up at the end of the day August 31. Cards - 4-11 since then...Reds - 11-4. Let's hope they keep it up. With the Cuban Missile Crisis being called up, it could definitely help. They are worried about his ability to throw strikes, but at 105 mph, the ump may not be able to tell the ball did anything other than hit the catcher's mitt.

Up 8 games going into the St. Louis series. Even though they could get swept and still be up 5 games, the Reds need to prove something to themselves and build some confidence against winning teams. If they get swept again, there will be quite the bit of curiousity filling the air amongst players, thinking "Are we really that good if we can't beat the team BEHIND us in the standings?" Need at least one victory. And be competitive in the others. Best case scenario is a sweep to return the favor and essentially put St. Louis out of the playoff picture completely.

I love Cueto as a player, but that was a punk move. Anyone who would kick another human in the face as hard as he did should have criminal charges pressed against him. (I would just be looking for a trial date after the season though, lol)

Self-defense claim would win out in that situation. He was teetering against the backstop and couldn't force his way out with his arms. He had the right to get himself out of the situation. However, do I think it is right to go kicking like that? Nope. But should LaRue or Carpenter (or anyone else) been out there in the scrum in the first place? Nope. Larue is technically just as at fault for his role in the brawl for entering into it. He shouldn't go jumping into a situation not knowing there is a chance something could happen to him.

Trust me, LaRue looked into suing Cueto over it and was told his chances of winning were slim to none, and "slim" is the first name of the snack his attorney would be eating between hearings.

Just having meaningful games this late in the year is exciting for Red's fans! Here's to hoping they can hang on an capture the NL Central!

It appears that if the Reds can hang on and win the Central and finish with the second best record, they would face the Braves, while the Phillies would face the Giants/Padres/Rockies. The key is to finish with the second best record and Atlanta being the wildcard, as the phillies having the best record cannot face the braves in the first round. I think this would be the best scenario for the Reds and their playoff hopes.

My brother lives in Cincinnati and didn't get picked for playoff tickets, either. BUT, if he'd have told me about it, I'd have entered to better his odds. I'd just buy 'em and he could pay me back! Although I might want to use ONE of em wink.gif

i had a buddy get pulled but he was complaining cause the seats he normally gets for $40 are $70 for the tourney. so he never used his password. you could get up to 6 tickets but could only use the password one time.

Congrats to the Reds and all of their fans. I've always liked the Reds, kind of consider them to be my NL team. With the Tigers not being in the race anymore, I'll be rooting for the Reds through the postseason for sure.

Do the Reds have a legitimate chance to advance in the playoffs? Or is making the post season as much as this team can accomplish?

Any word on the pitching rotation for the first round?
