Voice showed up for this one. Should have known better than to make the hour and a half drive, in a battle of what appeared to be even talent (or maybe even better talent on the losing team), Sturworld was the difference. Far outclassed our buddy Big Daddy, not even close. Fundamentals, preparation, approach, and situation coaching. Like men against boys. Shame.

Congratulations and good luck to the Redskins, they play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

I 100% disagree.

In fact If I was a player I'd play for Coach Shoffner any day of the week. There is a reason players who previously committed elsewhere for summer ball decided to go with St. Mary's Legion instead.

Personally, I think Sturwold is great coach but he gets far more credit than he should. He's had some major talent to work with over the years.

Someone needs to look up the records. Sturwold has OWNED BigDaddy for some time. Would guess he's undefeated for many years against him, haven't really followed it that close. You think that's coincidence or luck? There are a number of years that many would say Shoffner had the better talent. Face it folks, there is a coaching advantage here whether you like it or not. And now it's not just coaching, it's mental.

Facts are facts, that's all Voice is trying to say.

If you think Russia (Current) has more talent than Fort Loramie right now you obviously don't know what you are talking about. Fort Loramie has around 8 kids that will be playing Legion ball and Russia only has 2.

Your facts aren't facts at all. It's called an opinion. Which coming from somebody who refers to themselves in a third person, doesn't mean all that much.

First of all, you're not saying much for that Sidney HS education when you can't read black and white. Are you saying a coach's documented record against someone else (which is total domination) is opinion?

Get real young man.

Do you want to play for Shoffner and have fun, or play for Sturwold and win? Voice chooses door #2.

First of all I am not Coach Shoffner, just a fan of high school baseball and someone who has known him for many years. Second anyone who does not believe Coach Sturwald is a great coach is ridiculous. The man knows what hes doing, but yesterdays win was not because of a huge coaching advantage. It was a case of we have been there before and your guys haven't. But you are also probably the same type of person who believes Sturwald is responsible for the clouds parting ways and the rain staying away from Springfield Thursday. Trust me I was there Friday and the man walked over the grass to third base, not water.

Lets look at this stat, Sturwald was for many years the Russia coach, how many regional titles did he win there?

not sure, but he had a district tilte taken away for pitching a kid too many innings.

Coach Shoffner is great, Coach Sturwold is great as well....yesterday it came down to the jimmy's and the joe's... Ft. Loramie had the better of the that hands down.

1) I never said there was a GREAT coaching advantage, just that there was one. Throwing Jared Albers who had logged 9 total varsity innings this season in the Regional Final?? Come on now, that's a great coaching move that NO ONE expected. Any fan in the stands can hear Sturwold yelling to put his defense into position and then see the ground ball be hit right to where he moved the defense.

2) Totally agree that it's a different ballgame in just about any other park in Ohio. This game brought back memories from the 2007 State semi-final against Fremont St. Joseph's played at Cooper Stadium. They smoked the ball all over the yard and would have had home runs if playing at any other place. Jack Bowles did make a heck of a catch on the one to the warning track.

3) Commenting on who is the better coach... It's really a difference between apples and oranges. Completely different personalities, completely different approaches to the game, but one same desire, dedication, and goal. Kids love playing for both guys, and both are great coaches. Records indicate that it's Sturwold's edge right now, but it should be fun to see what Shoffner can do while staying at a school for a long period of time.

I love ya Billy (or BigDaddy, whatever!), I hope you're in Russia for a long time. This game is a lot more fun with you there. :-)

Voice saw both teams play twice this year during the regular season vs MAC opponents, and then the Regional Finals game against each other. The "different approaches to the game" Voice saw got right down to discipline and fundamentals. One team had it, one team didn't. And that's a coaching issue.
