Well practice has started for our Pirates. There will be some shoes to fill from last years team, The infield I believe will be in fine shape. Pitching is where I have to see if they can be strong there. Ky, Leva, Cambria Whitney will be the pitchers I think Leva is only a freshman so she will have to control her pitch count. These girls or some of them played together a few years ago. They looked good back then, so now it is just time to get there confidence and will to win back. GO LADY PIRATES..

YAY! Go Pirates ! Looking forward to the season. clap.gif

Totally agree -- we will miss some great players. It may be good to have multiple pitchers -- poor Jess had to to really carry a heavy load last year!

Uh...I take it the Grime girl is your daughter and you are not happy about the position change? Just a guess on my part. Anyway, I can't say I know alot about the team other than they lost a boat load of seniors. Maybe the coaches have made the defensive move out of necessity? It can't be easy to coach...some people second guessing decisions etc. which is why you would never catch me coaching. I guess my skin isn't thick enough for the job!

I'm thinking since the season has not started and they have not really practiced outside, NOW is the time to juggle things -- it's pre-season! See who can do what, and where. Just because they played some other position in the past doesn't mean they can't give somewhere else a try.

I really trust Coaches Edding and Striecher -- take a look at what all you have, then make decisions on what is best for the team

GO PIRATES!

Shouldn't that be Coach Striecher and Burke?

Think the Lady Pirates looked good in their first scrimmage. Young, but talented team, with some freshman nerves to work through. Don't think Weller was at top form, have seen her throw much better/faster. I think coaches have girls in appropriate places, including Grime. She's fast and talented in center field. The girls need to play where they best support the team, not necessarily where they or their parents think they should play. Looking forward to seeing what they can do this year. They have some big shoes to fill, but with hard work, they should have a successful season.

Interesting post. I happened to go to the scrimmage vs. Ottawa just to see what this team has to offer. I thought the third baseman, Sara, played well...certainly didn't see her miss three balls. I also thought that the girl in question; the Grime girl, played well in centerfield. Position changes are nothing new in the world of sports; coaches have to push buttons and pull strings all the time in order put their team in a better position to win.

Overall I thought they looked pretty solid. For being "too small" to play shortstop, Taylor did an amazing job. Both pitchers looked good, as did the catcher...really everyone played well, especially for being young and this being their first game action of the year.

Isn't this a team game? If everyone wanted to play where they wanted we would all be playing short and leading off.

I guess we will see, the three balls two went to sara's left, the other was the Bradley girl. Do not be surprised if Cambria stops playing, her dad told me. She is not comfortable in outfield and thinks it is a waste and boring. she wants on infield, not playing where she is use to the position will this affect her hitting, idk so she is a junior and her spot taken by a freshman, Cambria was better than Megan last year but being a senior she got the spot, so is it fair.

I was at the scrimmage too. I thought that Sara played very well at third, don't remember her missing any that came to her. There were some that went between her and Taylor, but they would have been tough for anyone to get. For only being a friend of her father's you are very opinionated. no.gif

I also think Cambria played very well in center field. If I remember correctly, didn't she play there when she was younger? From what I saw, she looked pretty comfortable in center field.

If she is thinking about quitting because she is not playing the position she wanted, then she is not a very good TEAM PLAYER. A TEAM PLAYER, will play the position that is best for the team; that way they can win more games.

Finally, if playing a different position is affecting her hitting something is really messed up. I would believe that her ATTITUDE about playing another position, could affect the hitting, you can't go up to bat when you are not mentally ready.

Pirates I saw you play a good game, and I wish you luck this season. I hope PrideandHeart does not stir up trouble that will start bickering between team members argue.gif , because that will be the fall of your team.

Unwritten rules of etiquette, (until I just wrote 'em) for posting on a high school sports website:

5) Don't rag on someone's teenager for the sake of furthering your own kid.
4) Don't have or allow your friends to do it.
3) Don't post right after the coach has pissed you off.
2) If you want to brag on your kid, say "This is my kid and let me tell you how good she did." (Totally exceptable)

And the most important one:

1) Do not brag or promote your kid while pretending to be someone else under another user name. You will always be found out by your peers. I always want to brag on my kids on here but I hope they do well enough for others to do it. Bragging on your own kid while pretending to be an unrelated admirer is like buying them a trophy and engraving "MVP" on it. Not very........Continental.

I will brag up my girl. She is good at third. I wonder y they do not play her there. Never mind Pride, he is just full of it. He will not make anymore comments on this. I will make sure of that.If you tell the truth it is not ragging on someone. I seen the balls Pride is talking about, Sara and Marlene both should have gotten to them My daughter would have. Not ragging. cambria needs work on her hitting, direct pitching is the only way. When a ball is pitched to her she does not know how to handle it all the time, so pitch to her would you coaches.

Warning! Warning, Will Robinson! A severe etiquette breach has been detected in the Continental section of ship Try To Act Right!

He's the thing, True Blue; The first part of the paragraph is good. Nothing wrong with a proud parent. But identifying yourself as a players dad and then pointing out the short comings of three other players, (in season, no less) is asking for trouble. If your coach is reading this he/she is probably stabbing themselves in the eye with a fork while beating their dog. You're not ragging on them but two can't field and one can't hit?

Throughout all the negativity, I think it can be said that the girls played pretty well against O.G. Especially with people in new spots that they may not be accustomed to. Hopefully all the pettiness can come to a rest and some parents / parent can encourage his daughter into embracing a new challenge...for the betterment of the TEAM...or is it spelled TIEM? No, pretty sure there is no "I" in team! Sadly, once again, one person from C-town has managed to make the whole town look ridiculous...
