A very strong competitor who's time has come to hang up the cleats. He really took a beating in his last game this season and am not sure if he could make it another season without sustaining a serious injury( I know critical injury can happen to anyone anytime in the NFL but wit the aging process he is more susceptible to one)
Brett...you had your 15 minutes ( and must say I enjoyed them) but it is time to give it up and prepare your acceptance speech into the Hall Of Fame in 5 years

You know I am a fan of Favre and IMO he is still a top 5 QB in the NFL. As far as I am concerned he can retire and come back as may times as he wants because it is nothing more then a sideshow compared to what he does on the field! Brett backs it up!

Well, this past season, I really decided to take a closer look at good ol Brett.......and what I have come up with is that I misjudged this guy.......never, in my whole life have I ever seen a man so passionate to play the game of football......I have never seen any player that has done so much for the NFL and professional football.......he is not fake or phony....he just loves the game....I really think he got a raw deal in his latter years at Green Bay, and that was what influenced him to make some of the decisions he made....heck, Brett Favre never wanted to retire....Green Bay put him in that position.....they felt they had to move on, and felt Rodgers was ready......they wanted Favre to stick around as a back-up or a tutor....Brett wanted no part of that....can you blame him.....the guy can still play as was evidenced this past season.......so the Packers.....being the nice guys they are decided that they would release Brett to play with another team.....as long as it wasn't the Vikes....he went to the Jets....what a mistake, and he was also hurt.....naturally he contemplated retirement again....enter the Minnesota Vikings.....he has an operation, and has his best season ever....ratings on the Vikings games this past season went through the roof.....I wonder why....also....the Vikings franchise sold the 3rd most merchandise of any team in the NFL......wonder why.......Sydney Rice...all pro....Percy Harvin....Offensive Rookie of the Year....wonder why......this guy has done so much for the Vikings and the NFL this past season.....and I really loved the fact that he had few interceptions.......he made viewing a NFL game fun again....
I think it is time for the public to realize that Brett Favre is a great football person who has a very positive influence on the people and players around him......does he have an ego.......hell yes he does, and it works to his advantage.......but please don't hate the guy because everybody thinks he waffles about retirement.....Green Bay brought all that on in the past 4-5 years.....they told him he was done, and Brett is the type of guy who does have some insecurities...put yourself in his position......I know one thing....the guy proved alot this past season, and after viewing many interviews of him, I feel he is a very down to earth person.....
Brett........I was wrong in my early evaluation of you and am not to proud to admit I made a mistake......I hope you come back for another season because I know of no other football player that makes viewing an NFL game as much fun as you.......thanks for the good memories....even if it was for only one season!!!!!!!!!!!

lep......
I don't know if you got the full story on why that final TD happened against 'America's Team'.....lol...the poor Cowboys......it seems that when Favre was still a Packer some years ago, the Pack was playing the Boys......don't remember if it was a playoff game or not, but the boys had a substantial lead with little time to go.....in other words, they could have never lost the game to the Packers.....well, with little time left on the clock, the Cowboys( America's Team) punched through a meaningless FG......oh....I guess it was OK then....lmao....what goes around comes around.....and I had to lmao at the Cowboys when they came to Minnesota.....what a bunch of prima donna's living on the past.......one good thing.....as long as Wade Phillips is with the Boys, you can count on the same thing!!!!!!

As for Wade Phillips, Jerry Jones needs a coach whose personality will allow Jerry to stay in the spotlight. Wade still has his job because he is a **cat.

No doubt about it. He is one of the greatest ever, and they would not have got there without him. I was hoping they would win it all, as I am an old timer too. Watching him take those hits at that age was hard to watch. He is a tough dude.

I think that is why I became very appreciative to what he did........the age factor.....we all go through it!!!!!!

He is one of the greatest players of all time, but his reputation takes a hit every year with this back and forth stuff. At this point, it'd probably be better for him to retire and spend more time with his family before he takes so many more hits he forgets who they are.

You two sum up my thoughts exactly...... It's been painful to even have to come in this thread & read about the possibility already...lol

Parts of it were on the vikings web page......they have Favre looking even older than he does now.....playing until he was 50....I just went back this morning, and it has been taken off the web page.....don't know why.....the reason the vikes had it was because it was shot in the vikings dressing room!!!!!!!
