I believe barry bonds is a great baseball player, and i hope he breaks the HR record. But with him sitting out last season because he uses steroids or was his knee really messed up that bad? Last year was the first usage of the substance abuse policy and he all of the sudden is injured. Somethin smells fishy to me!

He was hurt. His knees are still messed up, but he`ll play this year. He`s no smaller now than he was last year. The steroids issue will follow him all the way to Cooperstown.

I think this will probably be his last year unless he ends up a few homers shy of the record or goes to an American League team because there is no way he can continue to play the outfield.

Just read an excerpt from the new book coming out about his alleged steroid use and I must say it is pretty incriminating. I'm certainly not a fan of his but I would never wish an injury on someone no matter how much I disliked him.

From what I hear it must be pretty bad... I think by Bonds suing over the book it will make people want it more so the book writer is probably happy...

What's sad is that he's suing for illegally receiving the information. He is not suing for libel, he has not denied using steriods, just says he hasn't "knowingly" used roids. He is a loser, i don't like him at all. I am hoping he doesn't break aaron's record b/c aaron didn't cheat to get it, if bonds gets to cooperstown, he'll have a big asterisk* by his name. I agree with thecanman because all of a sudden, bonds is hurt and can't be tested for steroids. I think he knows he used them, doesn't want people to know he's a cheater and shouldn't make it to cooperstown.

--On a side note, the steroid policy isn't tough enough. If you get caught "cheating" while you are working an ordinary job, you're going to get fired right away unless you're a brown-noser to the boss. I think the policy should be tougher. I say if you get caught with roids in your system, let them find something else to do for a living. I say tougher policy!

Good point arlington, If Bonds did not knowingly take steriods he would sue for libel and try to get the book off the shelves. But to do that he would basically have to prove that he did not knowingly take steriods and the evidence seems to point in the other direction.

On the steriod testing I think they should get one suspension of maybe 50 or 100 games and the 2nd offense should be lifetime suspension. Because once could be a mistake but once you make the mistake you sure better not make it again!

if bonds didnt sue it made him look guilty...if you dont sue someone over writing a book that bashes you then you know it is the truth...this makes him look innocent, not that i am saying he is

the only way i see if barry is innocent is until this case is tried and finished and all papers and bad documents and under oath testaments are taken (of course that didnt stop palmerio) if he has nothing to hide then take it all the way!

this case isnt about whether bonds used steroids. its about this book tarnishing his reputation(not really that good to begin with). this case will never see a trial and even if it does, will it affect the records he already holds? what would mlb do if somehow it can be proved in court that bonds used steroids knowingly?

I think it still makes him look extremely guilty b/c he's not suing for libel, he's suing on the grounds that they received the info illegally, he never denied taking steriods, just denied knowingly taking roids. I don't like that he is getting away with this one. I am hoping that he gets busted, loses his hr records etc. He really looks guilty in my eyes regardless of the fact that he is suing

--another side note, i laughed when everyone booed him yesterday in s.d. shows how many supporters he has outside of s.f. cool.gif
