Its just not cool to come one a message board and call out a coach for not getting awards. Lets put it this way, Steve has ass. coaches that help him, not saying they made any decisions, but I am sure they may have talked about it for at least a few minutes. So its not just Steve playing bad guy, if you deserved, then I am sure you would have gotten your name mentioned, or MAYBE you did, but didnt get voted in??
It sure it nice to have one of the best goalies around doesnt it?

As I read the initial posting for this topic, I cringed.
Every sport season we have League honors. X amount of 1st Team/2nd Team/Hon Ment get selected. Now, the way my meager math skills compute, not all student athletes will get selected. I know, I was trying to be funny, but it wasn't. Seriously though, there are always good players left off of League Honors. It is inevitable!
As a coach, you go to the League mtg with a gameplan to nominate certain players of your own for "certain" honors. Also, have a good idea of other League players that you will vote for. Where this get hard is when certain players have a bad game against your team. As a coach you begin to re-analyze that player vs. your player vs. other players. Then,,,,,, the mtg gets to be a bargaining session. "If you vote my player 1st Team, I will vote your border-line player 2nd Team". Yes, this happens alot.
Now, to the CHS parent. I do not live in Continental. I do not know who you are. I do not care who you are. I have ZERO attachment to this situation, other than wanting to offer some insight.
As a coach, one gets to see many sides/attributes/short-comings of a player that the public/parents/fans/other coaches do not get to see. How hard does this player "practice"? What does he bring to the "team" concept? Etc etc etc.
Again, as a coach you sometimes see a side of a student athlete that many people do not get to see, even moms & dads. So, when it come time to vote for players, maybe a coach does not vote as high for a particular athlete because of things that have happened off the game-day field/court/etc.
I'm sorry that your student athlete did not get selected for a higher award. I really am; I have had instances as a father and as a coach where I felt my son and other players were slighted. However, it is always gonna happen.

The PCL soccer game doesn't cross over to the college level very well. Can't pronounce all of the foreign names in the college game.

Not to dig up old posts. But, let me tell you the whole process is crap. I am an ex-coach as of this year, and the whole honors process from league to state has many flaws. From a coaches(ex) perspective it's all about who's your coaching buddies. Here's how it works....."hey bob, vote for my kid and I'll vote for yours" Or worse yet here's what happened this year....one coach spend half the year telling other opposing coaches to not vote for any of (specific coach's) kids cause he's an a-hole and his kids are misbehaved. How do I know this...I lived it..i was asked to do the same, which i did not do...but in the end it must have worked because not one single kid got honors..now this was a good senior ladden team that lost 2-3 games all year. They easily had 3 girls worthy, one was a no brainer. So, if you're worried about honors or worse yet, your kid's worried about it....STOP....it's not worth it! Enjoy the game and teach your kids to be good teammates not egotistical attention hounds. I will not post anymore information regarding this.
