Cleveland Browns are at the center of the NFL trade universe

The Jets could use a nose tackle like Shaun Rogers.CLEVELAND -- Will the Browns add to their stockpile of picks in the 2010 draft by swinging another deal before today's 4 o'clock NFL trade deadline?

The prominent names mentioned in rumors have been quarterback Brady Quinn, specialist Josh Cribbs and defensive end Corey Williams.

Not-so-prominent rumors have posed trade possibilities involving linebacker Kamerion Wimbley, nose tackle Shaun Rogers, and, yes, even left tackle Joe Thomas.

Why are the Browns the subject of so many rumors? That's obvious. Coach Eric Mangini has not been shy about pulling the trigger on trades to rid his locker room of players not with his program.

Also, word spread quickly after Mangini assessed his inherited roster in February that the Browns would be willing to trade anybody except Thomas and linebacker D'Qwell Jackson.

Mangini and General Manager George Kokinis affirmed that notion by trading tight end Kellen Winslow on Feb. 27 -- the very first day of the NFL trading season. In April, they made three trades in the first round of the draft. In August, they traded defensive lineman Louis Leonard. Two weeks ago, they traded receiver Braylon Edwards.

Mangini has engineered two blockbuster trades with his old team, the Jets -- one on draft day giving them the chance to draft quarterback Mark Sanchez and then shipping them Edwards, a No. 1 receiver.

Now the Jets are looking for a defensive lineman to replace Pro Bowl tackle Kris Jenkins, who is out for the year with a torn knee ligament. Could Mangini and Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum pull off yet another trade? Anything is possible.

So far, Mangini's trades have netted four additional picks in the 2010 draft on April 22-24. In addition to their own selections in each of the seven rounds, the Browns now possess:

• The Jets' third-round and fifth-round picks (Edwards trade). If Edwards finishes with 55 or more catches, the first choice improves to the second round.

• Tampa Bay's fifth-round pick (Winslow trade).

• Carolina's sixth-round pick (Leonard trade).

It was reported on SportsCenter this morning that as many as 12 players, 6 starters, have the flu, and Shaun Rogers and Kamerion Wimbley have a form of the swine flu.

Here are the the things I learned this weekend.

1. The Browns still suck. Mangini is the caucasion Romeo Crennel. I guess when you ask for change you should be specific in what you ask for.

2. How really bad must Brady Quinn be in practice and in the clubhouse? Derek Anderson may be the worst starting QB since Jamarcus Russell. Can't wait for that game.

3. When you have Drew Brees for your starting QB, you can afford to have 80 year old Mark Brunell as your backup QB and extra point holder.

4. How bout that Terrell Pryor? Heisman Hopeful this week?

5. LCC and Ada are both really good football teams and I can't wait for this Saturday Night so hopefully I can see at least one of my teams win this weekend.

Just checked my cable listings for today! Yep, I am subject to watching Lumpy Rutherford Mangini and the Beaver DA offense, and Grizzly Adams' defense play against the Bengal-blown-out Bears on CBS (Cleveland Browns Suck network). I'm going to work in my yard today ... and breakdown and get the NFL network ticket by next week. Really ... shouldn't we be able to watch the Ravens (old Browns) & Broncos (old Orton Bears)?!!!

If today wasn't the last day of being a Browns fans...........I just have a very simple question...

just what the hell is it gonna take? bag.gif

my only possible solution and suggestion is not to just boycott the start of the next Browns football game.........my suggestion is to boycott an entire game.........no fans, no parking revenue, no beer sales, no paraphenalia sales (no, not that kind, but certainly would ease the pain of having to watch them)............just an empty freakin' stadium for national television on a Monday night vs. the Ravens.........nobody..........

that is what it will take I fear..............apathy is the only thing that will bring about a result............jeezus, I'm not even sure we could beat Y'town Mooney right now blink.gif

Romeo Oh Romeo, Where Art thou my Romeo

Stat of the Week
The Cleveland Browns are no better off today than they were 10 years ago, when they were an expansion team, in the middle of their first season back after a four-year absence from the league.

Just look at the quarterback play. In 1999, the season's midpoint came on Oct. 31. This year, it came on Nov. 1. Comparing the numbers of Tim Couch, who started Games 2 through 8 in 1999, and Derek Anderson, who has played all but the first 10 quarters this year:

Year Player Team W-L Comp-Att Pct. Yards TD Int Rating

1999 Tim Couch 1-7 104-196 .530 1,161 7 5 72.3

2009 D. Anderson 1-7 66-154 .429 681 2 9 36.2

from Peter King's MMQ

Big game coming up in three weeks at Ford Field for possibly the rights to the number two draft pick. Lions will certainly be favored and the Browns are 13 point underdogs this week during their bye!

Can't wait! I'm fully expecting a 3-2 game no matter who wins.

Wow, what a perfect Sunday in Cleveland. 70 degrees, no rain, and the Browns couldn't embarress themselves. You gotta love the bye week when your the worst team in the league.

Anyone got the television program listings for tonite, I'm looking for something to watch around 830pm. Maybe I will go to bed early for once. Naw, I think I will get a workout in for a couple hours. Wonder what my wife is doing? Hmmm!

Actually tonite is likely the last time you will see the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football for the next decade. Enjoy it I guess.

Darn Browns fans wacko.gif ........they can't even do a Walk Out right.........they were supposed to stay out of their seats until after the kickoff, but it looks like the only 2 who aren't in their seats are the two yahoos who came up with the idea.........

if they are getting drilled early though the walk out could happen sometime after halftime......
