I heard Coach Roob has applied and is still in consideration. There is another applicant at least, and I heard the board is reviewing the whole thing. Now I am not getting any of this info directly from any official source, so some of it could be wrong. It's just a compilation of what I'm hearing most often.

So let me be the first to say ( before everyone gets on here and blows this thing into another mess and Rocketman has to once again get on here and shut us down......however i dont understand that....negative post are the ones that keep this forum going...if everyone said Lets go cats fight hard this week!!! can you imagine how boring it would be?????) anyways back to my point, i want to wish Coach Rood the best of luck and if Bath is smart they'll keep ahold of this fine coach...just because he doesnt put up with the B.S that the other male sports coaches doo does not make him a bad coach, in fact it makes him a respectable one...as a former player...Coach Rood helped out greatly in my college career...Good Luck Coach! and don't change your style or methods for anyone!

great coach cuz he helped YOU out. conflict of interest if you ask me. .500 records makes him a real winner especially after the dumbing down of the schedule. just like in basketball.

So topflight, anything to add to what I posted earlier? Is it looking like coach Roob, or someone new?

Im pulling for coach Rood because honestly i think he does a nice job. There was no reason for his contract not being renewed, Now we can bi*** at eachother and list reasons why you think he shouldn't have the job, however ultimately nothing we say has anything to do with the job hire. I was simply saying good luck to Coach Roob, however if Jesko gets the job the baseball program will be in great hands also. Jesko is a great coach and knows the game, one day he's going to make a very fine head coach at bath whether it be for football, baseball, or basketball i really believe he could be succesful.

Someone has to know something. Why is it taking so long? Are we gonna wait til it's time for pitchers and catchers to do something? What about off season conditioning? Is it true that the Board is looking into the matter and interviewing parents about to get their opinion or did I just make that up?

You've got to be kidding? No school board in their right mind would interview parents about a potential coaching hire would they? If that's the case, does the new coach only get the expectation of getting a couple years until a new set of parents come in and decide they want someone else?

Yes Chevy, I was joking for the most part. I don't have inside info as I am nothing in the Bath scheme of things. However, they have an applicant and an incumbant coach. Common sense says they are either: A: Waiting for additional applicants. B: Perhaps the whole process must last a certain term before the hire can be made (doubt it) or C: Have not made up their mind because they are still looking into Coach Roob's record or behavior to determine if a new coach is needed. Can anyone else think of another reason not to do something yet?

Lets see, the parents didn't like the old football coaches, so they got new ones, they didn't like the baseball coach so they are trying to get a new one of those and I'm sure if we went back and looked we would find those that want to get rid of the baseketball coach, (boys at least) (note to parents) you cant his son is your best player. How long before the new football coach feels the same communtiy support?

Maybe they are waiting on a district wide vote this November. Maybe Bath should hold an Eric Mangini like "Opportunity Period" for "rookies and new guys" to prove themselves before getting a shot! The bottom line is the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well, Coach Roob has been there a while. Regardless of what's percieved as a lack of patience taking place in other sports, you cannot say we havent been patient with baseball. We clearly do not have a wining baseball program like Defiance or Shawnee. It's simply a statistical fact. Now maybe you can say it's because the athletes aren't good enough, but they compete with those two schools at the lower levels. TopFlight says Coach Roob places more kids in college than any other coach. That is an admirable quality and worthy of consideration when deciding to keep him or not. I'm not coming down on either side. I'm just wondering why it's taking so long to make a decision.

You cant bring in what happens in the younger grades, The success rate in the midget and middle school football programs is great, however it doesnt seem to be significant at all once the kids reach highschool. It is the attitudes of these kids thats hurting these coaches reputations. Bath brings in a new football coach and for now it seems to be turning out just like last season...so obviously its not the coaching. Look at the sidelines on fridays whens the last time the bath football team has ever been that small? Its poor work ethic from these kids and its showing in football with them quiting. Maybe we need to stop putting all of this on the coaches and some of it on the kids. Coach Roob isn't in the box swinging the bat during the game and hes not pitching off the mound. However he does put the work into putting these kids in a position to win games.

That's a very good point and you may be right. Besides, it's not like the baseball program is terrible, it would just be nice to see more tournement success, wheather it be the coach or the kids.
