That has nothing to do with it i can guarantee you that there is twice as much running involved in soccer than football lol and i bet if i played football i could make it through the conditioning part just fine- trust me if some of the football players on our team can make it through conditioning i'm pretty sure I can too. haha have you ever thought about the fact that maybe they just like the sport of soccer more? it has absolutely nothing to do with being mentally strong- if our school cut the soccer program i would probly play football.

whoa whoa whoa... hold up! I don't care what sport you like or don't like! Personally i am not a soccer fan... but the above highlighted comments need some further discussion. First of all the contact in football compared to the contact in soccer is TOTALLY different. Im not saying there is no contact in soccer, but most of the time when there is hard contact the referee blows the whistle and stops play, because contact is not an acceptable part of the game. Contact in football is what defines the game! It is encouraged and anticipated... the coaches, referees, and spectators come to watch this contact! This contact is much more violent and frequent, which is why the players wear pads. Those pads do not eliminate the pain that you feel, trust me! They only spread the contact out... the only people who can take that kind of punishment are in UFC or rugby. So do not say that soccer is more of a mans game than football because if you are describing that in terms of physical toughness you most certainly have to be tougher to play football!! As far as the running goes, yes you may need to do more endurance training in soccer than football but i promise you if you were to switch a soccer player to football with a football player who is of the same relative size and athleticism the soccer player would have much more trouble! All those pads, pants and helmet would be extremely difficult to handle for someone used to wearing a lightweight shirt, shorts, no helmet, and MUCH LESS contact. On the other hand the football player would happy to trade more running with all of that!!! Your comments about talent and smarts are unbelievable!!! You have no idea what it is like to memorize thiry+ plays, and blocking schemes, then adjust those schemes (on the fly-as you see it) to varying defenses!
I agree with you that it is petty to come on here and bash soccer and the players, but before you go saying that football is just "running into somebody else with not a lot of actual talent" you should do some research on the techniques, and skills used in football.

ha what are you a broken record?? here i'll say it again the kids that play soccer simply like the sport more. If soccer was the majority sport in our school would you say that the people who play football are weak minded? Why don't you go over to schools like kalida or ottoville or like any of the other pcl schools and ask them if soccer is for the weak minded?
oh yea the kids that played football in junior high and quit were the ones that never played football in their lives and just wanted to try it out cuz everyone else was doing it so don't give me that crap

I guess the point I am trying to make that this is not the first time this topic will be brought up or will it be the last. Both sides understandably defend there sports whether soccer or football because they love it and therefor believe that there sport is better than the other. Both sports need tremendous talent, dedication, and teamwork. The sports have unique characteristics that make them different from the other and require different types of skills, players and tactics. NOBODY can say which sport is better because they are so different....they both are special and are awesome in the eyes of their loyal fans which is really what only matters.

Great posting, maniac!!
I myself, particularly like fb over soccer, but would NEVER try to diminish the talents of the athletes of soccer (or any other sport)..... Each have their own special talent, & as long as ppl are doing what they love as participants & observers, watching what they want, who cares!!??!!??!! There's room for everyone & if it's not your cup of tea, move on!

Also, before anyone says, "soccer is stealing away the fb players", if the players wanted to be playing fb instead, they would....I don't care what size school you have....It's nice that the schools that have soccer give the kids an option---different strokes for different folks!......It's their choice of what to participate in..... Just thank God they're in something & applying themselves & not running around getting in trouble!
All athlete's willing to put in the time & commitment that participating in ANY sport requires, should be commended---no matter the sport! Hats off to ALL of them!

i would love to see you or any other football player play soccer i can guarantee that you can't handle it. there's 5 times as much running in soccer than football you wouldn't last 10 minutes in a game without getting tired.- most kids that play soccer run a whole 80 minutes NONSTOP running with no timeouts or breaks in between to set up plays. now thats something you can't handle.
grow up kid and think before you talk

OHH and one more time GROW UP KID! If you don't like soccer then why are you commenting on the soccer threads? That just shows the immaturity of you. GROW UP GET A LIFE

ha wrong again your football team has at least one Pansy on it... And that's you! Everyone else on your team is cool tho cuz they don't act like their 5 years old!
And I don't know what soccer team your talkin about, but if anyone on my team played football the majority of them would play either line or skill positions. Lol and every single one of them would start over you. haha Even the girls on our team are tougher than you!
