Let's take a poll....Watch this clip and vote whether you think the hit is intentional or accidental. There is slow mo at the end.... The goalie's reaction is what helped me decide.

All I can say is that it should have been a RED card. I hope that the right people get to view this and take action.

Watch this video. The player that is hit in the Back of the head falls LB players looks down at him like Ha take that. shrug2.gif Then Watch the Keeper in the background clapping with approval! clap.gif And then when the Ref Cards the LB Player look how the other LB player in the back ground throws his hands up like WHAT How can you give him a card! crybaby.gif I thank the ref for making the call. But should have been a RED bow2.gif I do understand that at the angle the ref was standing he may have not been able to see the full blow.Come on LB Play fair or stay home and play your game with your own team. The teams you play are not going to take your crap anyone else agree speak out on here and lets be heard! We are tired of your little song and dance that you play heres how much we all care about LB violin.gif hear that? But when the coach plays like he does on the alumni game and kicks a keeper in the head. Well I guess what the LB high school players see the coach do during his playing time on the Van Buren Alumni game they think he plays dirty so we are being taught by the best. They look up to the coach on LB and that is the saddest thing I have ever seen. VIOLENCE is out of control in this country and the LB players are being allowed to play on. LB NEEDS STOPPED.

Intentional or not (I think it was) the kid is for sure an a-hole for not caring about the other kid in obvious pain on the ground.

Does it really matter? This was last year and the only person that knows if it was intentional or not is the player. Stuff like this happens all the time, it's part of the game.

Wow, if you or one of your players got hit like that...then we would see what you think. A cranial shot at the base of the brain stem? If this is happening all of the time, then either the sport needs to be eliminated or VERY HARSH penalties need delivered. Look at the coach's reaction...NONE

Mission accomplished LB coach & LB thug.

Maybe someone ought to send a link of this video to the LB school board members?!

First off I have been hit like that plenty of times, maybe not at the same location (brain stem), but I have had my fair share of head injuries and it comes with the territory. And I was not saying that head injuries happen all the time, but hard tackles happen all the time ( cheap or not) it is a part of the game just like diving has become a part of it. It is something the ref has to deal. Oh and I hope that the player that got hit is ok.

In my opinion:

The speed of which the player goes to the ground tells me it was a rough/dirty play. The goalie could be applauding because the defender knocked the ball out, not the player down. Yellow card would suffice.

Sometimes coaches dont react non-verbally. Sometimes I just mutter to myself "crap". That doesnt mean that I dont care for the well being of an injured player.

First off, you're about a year behind on posting this video. Second of all, who really cares? Sure, they kid may have played that ball a little rougher than should have...but it's not the first time anyone has taken a cheap shot at someone in soccer. All teams play dirty at one point or another...in fact...LTC was one of the dirtiest teams I can recall playing. Those "christian" boys love to tug on those jerseys and I even had my foot stomped on a few times on corner kicks. I wouldn't doubt that it was retaliation from something earlier in the game. Bottom line...it happens! It's a part of the game and if you can't handle it or even accept it then I suggest you stop watching/playing high school soccer...or any hs sport for that matter. Man up or get out

Agreed.

This happened last season. Why bring it up now? What's the point Theodore? I see you started one on JJHuddle as well... If you have a problem with LB players/coaches/whomever, take it up with them. There's no reason to start a "crusade" against the young man in this video you are apparently trying to disparage.

It was a bad foul. He got carded. Your team still won the game. It's been almost a year. Get over it…

He's a good kid and an honest player. This needs to go away. There's a fine line between a mis-timed tackle and being a flthy play. Let it go. We've all been late in a challenge (those of us that have played that is) and it ends up looking like a mob hit. Everyone thought that when Eduardo had his horror-show leg break that it was an awful tackle. It was, but only because it was mis-timed & not intentional in any way.

Still need to remember, these are minors and we need to be careful about what is said. Take it easy.

laugh.gif Wow Toffeeman, if I had a couple good & honest teammates like that, no one would ever score on us laugh.gif Mis-timed tackle? Do you suggest that we "tackle" players by clubbing them in the back of the head? Or, do you call that an in-verted slide tackle on the upper extremity?

Are all of you guys from the same school or league? This hit was even dirtier than Zidane's, when he head butted Materazzi in the 2006 world cup, and people are still talking about that one! Zidane got a three game suspension and was fined by the sport's governing body for his non-injury causing antics (http://www.npr.org/t...storyId=5570672).

Maybe this needs to be looked at by OHSAA!

Zidane was suspended for a dirty hit, but it was also done in a timely matter. My only question is, where was this video last year? You know, when it happened. It's done and over with, a new season has began . huh.gif

ok first off...ya it was a dirty foul and shouldve been a red card and nothing less...but the point is u r going to face dirty and foul play all over the place...I for one dont like it, but u know what that is how competitive sports are..not just in soccer but in all of sports...now you will come across athletes that make a dirty foul much like what we just seen here and not care about the condition of that athlete, then you will come across some athletes that make the same dirty foul , but has the heart to make sure that the other athlete is ok...now the officials try to do their best to keep control of the game altho some let it get out of hand, foul play seems to get worse and worse every year so officials r trying to watch out for it as best they can (at least they need to) but anyways basically ur gonna come across a player or team that just plain out plays dirty...the only way u can stop it, is just prepare ur team for them kind of situations...as a coach u dont like to be on the receiving end of it, but thats just how some teams play and u can either love them or hate them..ya its not right when u get a player like we seen and makes a hard foul like that and doesnt even care about the condition of the other player, and we all know that its wrong and we can say all we want about them kind of heartless players, but the best thing to do is just get over it and just prepare ur team for the worse cuz u can make all these rules about sportsmanship and what not, but its just not gonna stop someone from making a hard foul...all i can say is good luck to all the teams out there and hope that we dont have to discuss too much about foul play or anything concerning that for much of this season

Theodore started this thread with a question, we all put our 2 cents in. This season, last season, it was a good topic to discuss. dry.gif

Not from his school or league. In fact, they happen to be a close rival of ours. I stand by what I said & I doubt that he intended to club him. He's an honest player from what I know of him and I've seen him several times & many of boys have played with him and know him well.

My point was, while a BAD FOUL, it's easy for a tackle to go from well-intended to HORROR SHOW in an instant. Someone must have a serious grudge to to post that. I guess it's the age we live in. 5 second clip & villify A MINOR.

And Sir Speedy, if that's indeed your real name wink.gif . I've seen and played fair bit of footy in my life. I always enjoy being questioned by someone who hasn't even been alive as long as I've played. You don't have to be a thug to be part of of bad tackle now & then. That was my point.
