lol yes he does

At least to me it is looking like Brian Robiskie is going to have a hard time getting a lot of playing time. I see the depth at WR looking like this:
1. Edwards
2.Mohamed Massaquoi
3.Furrey

Then we add in Cribbs who looked very good against the packers.

Yea the Browns beat the Lions last night 27-10 and scored two offensive TD's. As I predicted, not on here though, Derek Anderson played well enough to keep this QB charade continuing and further screwing the team of one QB getting all the first team reps. We have seen him play well before, (last season on Monday night againts the Giants) but it is a charade. He is consistantly inconsistant at best. Get rid of him please. Like I said, I really dont know if Quinn will be any better but I know he cant be any worse. I have seen enough of Derek Anderson......name a damn starter please!

PS......Pay Josh Cribbs whatever he wants!

The NY Jets today announced that rookie QB Mark Sanchez, who by the way the Browns passed on in a draft day trade with the Jets, will be their opening day QB. The Browns meanwhile continue waging battle between their QB's in a derby that simply robs both of precious practice time with the first teamers. Derek Anderson vs Brady Quinn. One we have seen for many starts, some good most bad, the other we have only seen start twice. If Brady Quinn is still tied or ahead of the guy who has 40 plus NFL starts then doesn't it seem logical to just give him the damn ball and see what he can do for a whole season? Derek Anderson is a quality backup who I doubt could start for any other team in the league right now. He has had plenty of chances and it is time to give Quinn a full season. The QB derby is a farce, and makes me wonder of Mangeni is any smarter than Fat Albert. The bad thing is I like everything else he is doing but this is just stupid.

How we lookin????

Not bad......

I am watching and the 4th quarter just started. Browns up 20-14 and driving for another score. I really have to think that Quinn distanced himself tonight in the QB derby...but then, I'm not a coach. Anderson looked good on a few plays-but too many bad things happen when he is in the game. (Sack, penalties, balls thrown out of bounds...). the TD to Edwards that Quinn threw was pretty!

Score is now 23-14.

They don't look like the worst team in the NFL tonight.....................

Go Browns!

I just finished watching the replay of the Browns game and I am ready for some crazy talk. First off, Fortfan is right, surely Quinn is our starting QB, he just runs the offense crisply and seemingly more in sync than Anderson. Anderson is a great backup QB, Quinn is the starter.

Secondly, I think we might have the best special teams in the division. At least if they continue to play like they didd tonite. If nothing else, the new coaching staff seems to have us playing with much more passion than the past.

Thirdly, Jamal Lewis should be looking over his shoulder as there is a rookie pushing him and maybe surpassing him. Think about this....James Davis, sixth round RB out of Clemson, could he be like another sixth round pick named Davis from a few years back.....Terrell Davis? I know crazy talk but he sure looks good.

I think all aspects of the team are better than last year. Right now I am fired up and Quinn must be named the starter tommorrow. Even Braylon looked like he is the player we drafted him to be at least tonite.

Browns fans can be excited at least for another couple of weeks!

So I turn on SportsCenter this morning and they show the Browns Highlights and then cut to alleged anaylist Trent Dilfer, who said Derek Anderson gives the Browns the best chance to win this year. Then I thought one of us is an idiot and should stop talking/posting.

Dilfer has an agenda...and it's not to help the Browns.

Peter King from Sports Illustrated predicts the Browns will finish 2-14 and have the worst record in the NFL, while the Sporting News says 3-13 losing their first ten in a row.

After watching the game last night, I was a little disappointed that neither Quinn nor Anderson played. They continue to say they are keeping it quiet to keep the Vikings guessing. Does anyone really believe the Vikings Defense cares who is at QB for the Browns? Really, they stop the run first and worry about the QB later. We would be doing them a favor by starting the statue known as Derek Anderson and they already know that so who are we fooling? Stupid!

The Browns again made some stupid unnecessary penalties last nite but continue to play with an enthusiasm and passion not seen for several years. James Davis continues to look like a better running back than Jamal Lewis. Again I like everything this team is doing right now except for this QB business.

As the season opener draws nearer, as usual I am excited about our fresh start, watching Brady Quinn for a full season and unlike these national publications who have no clue when they print such non sense, I am looking at around 6-10, 7-9 or god forbid 8-8? ok 6-10!

THIS FROM SPORTS ILLUSTRATED WRITER ROSS TUCKER:

Please, Eric Mangini, for the sake of your locker room, your career, and your city, name a starting quarterback. I don't know what your logic is in waiting this long. You didn't even play Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn in the final preseason game, so clearly the "competition" is over.

I understand that you wanted to make it an open competition and give the keys to the guy who performed the best in your new system under offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. I get that. But have you thought about the messages you are sending to everyone involved with the organization, especially the players.

The first thing abundantly clear at this point is you don't really like either of them. You may say it is a good situation and that you have two solid choices, but if you really liked one of them and thought he was your guy for your tenure in Cleveland, you would have already named him the starter. Instead, you have given the appearance that you are picking the lesser of two evils. Now that will get the rest of the guys to rally around that signal caller. Sheesh.

When you wait this long to choose between two veterans, every player on the roster recognizes that the guy who starts Week 1 will not necessarily still be the guy in Week 4, or earlier for that matter. We know the quarterback might worry about being jerked every time he makes a bad throw, which is bad enough. But at this point you have insured that wide receivers and offensive linemen will be looking at the sidelines if your starter struggles. That's not good.

Most people assume you are holding off on naming Quinn the starter, which he should be, because you want to trade Anderson. Do you really think acting like Anderson may be the starter is increasing his trade value? Really? I highly doubt that.

Or maybe you really think keeping it quiet will give you a competitive advantage for the opener against the Vikings. That's pretty silly for a couple of reasons. One, I think it will leak out which QB is getting most of the reps in practice. Second, Minnesota is going to have to prepare for both guys anyway because, who knows, you may pull the starter at halftime if he isn't playing up to your standards.

Quinn deserves the job because it is time to find out what he can do. It is really that simple. We know Anderson is talented but inconsistent. There was no clear separation in the preseason, so let's see what the local guy can do. The excitement around the city and in the community could even help give the club a boost.

I understand you like to play mind games and see how players react. I don't blame you for that necessarily. But some guys don't play well in those uncertain circumstances, and quarterback is not the position to be increasing the uncertainty on a daily basis. If you don't believe me, ask Rod Hood, whom you cut earlier this week.

"I never really knew where I stood there on a day-to-day basis, and I had never experienced that before in Philly and Arizona," said Hood, who landed with the Bears. "I would be first string one day and play well and then the next day I would be second string with no rhyme or reason."

That is the way things are in Cleveland so far under Mangini's watch.

I PRAY MANGINI ISN'T THE POLAR OPPOSITE OF ROMEO CRENNEL BUT I FEAR HE IS. WILL CLEVELAND BROWNS FOOTBALL EVER GET IT RIGHT IN MY LIFETIME. STATISICALLY I HAVE ABOUT 30 MORE YEARS.

Seems like a lot of knashing of teeth over this….I think Mangini knows-I think the team knows…it's just the media that doesn't know and it is driving them crazy.

Some rumors…..Jamal Lewis to be released. The backup QB (you have to assume it is Anderson) is being shopped around.

With 2 teams recently firing offensive coordinators-isn't it nice to see other teams with thse types of problems???

The Cleveland Browns have announced their roster moves aimed at getting the team to 53 players.

The biggest name on the list is receiver David Patten, a veteran of the trio of New England Super Bowl wins earlier this decade.

Also gone are fullback Charles Ali, defensive back Brandon Anderson, quarterback Richard Bartel, defensive back, Tra Battle, linebacker Beau Bell, offensive lineman Branndon Braxton, linebacker Titus Brown, offensive lineman Dustin Fry, defensive lineman Adam Hoppel, receiver Paul Hubbard, running back Chris Jennings, receiver Lance Leggett, offensive lineman Pat Murray, receiver Jordan Norwood, offensive lineman Kurt Quarterman, defensive lineman Brian Schaefering, offensive lineman Isaac Sowells, defensive lineman Santonio Thomas, defensive back Hamza Abdullah, running back Noah Herron, defensive back Corey Ivy, and tight end Aaron Walker.

Finally, the Browns announced that an injury settlement has been reached with defensive lineman Melila Purcell, who already had been on the team's injured reserve list.
