Browns are said to be wanting Mathias Kiawanuka (sp?) and a first round pick for Edwards from the Giants, while the Giants have offered a 2nd and a 5th. The "going rate" that keeps getting thrown around is a first and a third for a top rate WR. However, of the two available, I think folks are going to be willing to pay that price for Anquan Bolden (hell, Chad Ocho Cinco) before Braylon Edwards. If the Browns can wrangle a first and (say) Steve Smith from the Giants, I will think the Giants overpayed. But a first and a third for Edwards is probably not going to happen.

The latest is that the Edwards to the Giants trade if off the table and the Browns are going to draft another QB being Mark Sanchez of USC. The Giants believe that the Browns want too much for Edwards being a first and third round pick and a player. So lets draft another QB in the first round and trade one of those that we already have. Please let all of this be disinformation.

It is a proven fact that the good teams accumulate picks in the draft while the bad teams continue to get top ten first round picks and continue to draft high priced players who yield about a 50-50 return on investment.

Trade the number five pick for more picks later in the draft. Trade Edwards for the 2nd and 5th the Giants want, trade Anderson for whatever you can get, then draft some quality football players just once this decade. Let Brady Quinn play a full season before we bring in yet another unproven player and squander another high draft pick. The bad teams are always the same teams and the good teams are always the same. Why is it that the Colts, Steelers, Patriots never have high draft choices, while the Lions, Browns, Bengals, Raiders always have high draft picks yet the good always are good and the bad always are bad. Hmmmm. Idiots! These same teams continue to bring in coaches who continue to do the same stupidity over and over.

Oh and quite drafting players simply because you like their size or speed. Football is an eye test on the field not in the gym. A football player is a football player not a guy who looks good, is a certain height or can lift a certain amount of weight. how many times must this be proven over and over. Jerry Rice was labeled to slow coming out of college. Dont listen to what the experts say. Watch film and draft the players!

The Cleveland Browns did today what they had to do to get better. Not sure if they did or not but they had the right idea. Trade down accumulate picks. Five picks today, a working man's, lunch pail draft, nothing flashy but hopefully football players who can play the game.

No trade for Edwards or Quinn which I think is a good thing in general at least for this year. Give Quinn a chance, Edwards can''t really be as bad as he was last year can he? How we passed over Rey Maulauga is beyond me and now he is a Bengal, but at least hes not a Steeler.

Five more picks tommorrow, hopefully we make them count, this draft is hopefully full of substance and not style.

I do have to say though....I say I think giving Quinn a chance will be good & hopefully the Browns become more competitive this year, overall, w/their picks.....It's truly no fun when you don't have competition...I think you could see an upturn this season..... (talk about being optimistic!?!?! LOL) wink.gif

I would like to think that there was a reason why he fell to where he did and the Browns knew it and the Bengals didn't. Wouldn't be the first time the Bengals didn't do their homework on draft day.

Hopefully the draft day moves will make the Browns better. God knows they can't get much worse.

Latest rumors out of Browns camp is that the Browns and Jets are talking about a trade that would send Braylon Edwards to the Jets for RB Thomas Jones and a draft pick.

Jones is currently holding out for a better contract and the Jets drafted a RB, so maybe we should just wait til they release him. While I am no fan of Edwards, we should keep him if we cant do better than Thomas Jones and a conditional draft pick.

QB Graham Harrell also reportedly did well at this weekends mini camp but has not been signed to a contract yet.

It is being reported today on ProFootballWeekly that the Browns rejected two different trade offers on draft day for Brady Quinn both of which included first round draft choices. If this is true, one would suspect that the Browns plan on Quinn being the starter this year. At least one would suspect that at any other franchise.

QB Graham Harrell not offered a contract. Speculation involving the possible trade of Braylon Edwards for Jets RB Thomas Jones have died down for the moment.

Training Camp starts next week! Top three draft picks remain unsigned but are not looking to hold out at this point.
QB battle looms with Quinn starting the battle in the lead....supposedly. Watch out for rookie RB James Davis out of Clemson and 2nd year TE Martin Rucker out of Missouri. If we get Alex Mack signed and in camp the Browns will work to become a pound it out team and Davis and Rucker could be major new pieces to the offense.

Does anyone want to buy my "Romeo must go!" T shirt?

Camp Updates:

QB battle between Anderson and Quinn continues to be even.

Rookie running back James Davis has really impressed the coaches and players throughout camp...i am really looking forward to seeing this kid play...at the 22nd pick in the 6th round he could possibly become the steal of the draft!

Shaun Rogers continues to be his dominate self that he showed us last season throughout camp.

Braylon Edwards has had a fantastic camp in which he catches everything thrown his way...good news but we will have to see what he does in game situations.

Reports say that 2nd round rookie WR Mohamed Massaquoi from the University of Georgia has clearly outplayed Brian Robiskie and may be the 2nd WR on the depth chart.

1st round pick Alex Mack has struggled at times during camp especially against Shaun Rogers...this is to be expected...always a little learning curve.

Deja Vu all over again!

drive down the field, kick a field goal, make a penalty, miss a field goal

drive down the field, BE drops a sure TD, throw an INT

Third and long, give up a TD Bomb

4th and long, make a defensive stop, defensive holding

run the ball for 50 yards give up 250

penalties, turnovers, and deja vu all over again.

Am I in the minority by stating however that I like the white jerseys and brown pants better than white on white. The only way to stop this madness is to bring back the orange pants!

Agree with you completely! I like what the new regime is doing but it looks like it may take a couple of years before some success.

The Browns second preseason game of the new year is this Saturday night against the Lions at home. From what I have read, the talking heads all seem to think that Derek Anderson should start in order to get a fair shot to show what he has given he only threw two passes in the last preseason game. I for one believe that once again the Browns are shooting themselves in the foot with this so called QB competition. All they are doing is robbing both guys of getting the needed reps with the first team. To me it isn't even a contest. I really don't know how good Brady Quinn will be but I know I prefer him over Anderson. The team just seems to run better with him at QB than it does Anderson. I have seen enough of Anderson to know and I really cant understand why professional coaches cant see it. He is not that good. He constantly tries to force the ball into double coverage and the INT he threw against the Packers was vintage Anderson.

The season everyone talks about was against several mediocre teams in the first half of the season and he stunk the 2nd half and failed when the season was on the line against the Bengals. He stunk last year. Just put Quinn in and trade Anderson to the Raiders or any other dysfunctional team that will have him. We may not win any more games but at least this ridiclulous QB derby will be over.

Here is another thought. Why don't we give WR Marvin Harrison a look. As it stands now we will have two rookies playing with one likely starting. Would Harrision not be a viable second receiver who certainly can catch the ball at least as often as Braylon Edwards. And would he not be someone who could teach the new guys the game of football better than what we have? Sure he might pistol whip anyone who crosses him or fire a couple shots across the bow of local car washes but geez, doesn't that need to be done from time to time.

Now we get to face the Vikings to start the season, not only with Adrian Peterson who will probably run for 300 yards but also with my alltime favorite QB Brett Favre, getting his confidence and swagger back against our swiss cheese defense.....Yikes!

biggrin.gif Great Post!!...............Adrian Peterson vs. Browns.......not good for us lol.
Quinn should start from what we saw of him last year and he seems to be having a better preseason this year.
I like are WR core but agree with you that adding Harrison would only make us better!
