Lets be honest about the Ottoville Softball program. It is a program that should have been dismantled 2 or 3 years ago. Every year the program has to beg and plead to get enough players to even have a team. The program has had limited to no success in the past few years. As far as coaching goes you do not have new coaches since all that has happened is that last years assist is now the head coach and last years head coach is now the assistant. All they did was change roles but both have been activily involved in the program for several years. Granted you have been unlucky in that 2 players were injured and now you are down to only 10 players. I have also heard that you will need to forfeit 3 to 4 games do to not having enough players to field a team during the future senior trip that your school has. While I believe that it would be sad if the program ends. I do believe it is best for the school and future of all the other sports. Honestly, Ottoville offers too many sports to be supported by the limited and even future smaller class sizes that it has. Enjoy the sport while you can because unfortunately I believe in the near future Ottoville will have to make the hard choice of eliminating some of its sports programs.

well i'm sorry to tell you HA HA>.... we aren't forfiting games only postpoining one... i am the injured pitcherer and will b back for fri. game.. i am the last years head coach's daughter so when you start insulting my family.. it gets personal. He brought softball to ottoville and he can't be head coach because he got moved to second shift. otherwise he would still b in that position. And FYI last year we came in third for PCL because continental and grove tied for first... and we didn't have to plead anyone to play this season. so idk where you are getting your info from. But you heard it from a player now. so get your facts right pls. and dont go insulting my father again. or ottoville softball for as long as i am part of the program

Wow HaHa, even I found that offensive. It doesn't matter how bad the team is, if they have enough players that want to play for a team, they should be allowed to play and be proud of their team

Unfortunately, all small schools will have to make some decisions in the near future so enjoy it and make the most of it while you can.

First off I would Like to know where in what I posted is there anything stated that was offensive. Maybe you are just a little too sensitive to the situation. I did not in any way knock down or insult you, the coaches, the team, or the program. I simply stated what I know to be the facts. The facts are that the coaches haven't changed, just their roles have. The program has not grown for what reasons I do not know but the coaches have done the best with the limited amount of players they have had. With that being said the program still has not grown and softball is not the only sport at Ottoville struggling to fill their rosters. I wish you the best this season and hope you have fun but I still believe that the future of sports in Ottoville will bring the end to some sports due to numbers in that sport and the class sizes that will follow.

Let's do a little history. Many years ago, Ottoville adult mens had one of the finest softball teams in NW Ohio, and all the players were from Ottoville HS. In the 50's, 60's & 70's until slow pitch came in. I will give you a few names of families that played years ago, they all played BB or BSKT at Ottoville, ask them about fastpitch softball, and they will tell you how proud they are of the Lady Green trying and working so hard. (Some are deceased) Carl Maag was the coach, other names who played: Altenburger,Wannemacher, Knippen, Schlagbaum, Miller, Horstman, Honigford, Holhbein, Schimmoeller brothers, Dag Herman, Fishbach brothers, Rellinger, Hilvers, Schneider, and many more I cannot recall. Ask your great uncles or Great Grandpas about this. Fastpitch softball is in the blood of Ottoville, it may take time to pull out a state champ, but it could happend. Title IX came and promoted lady sports, the best best thing that ever happend to HS sports.
The Big Green SB program is competitive, no, they are not Crestview or Leipsic (they have a history too, from many years ago). DO NOT put down a program when young ladies come out and work hard. They could not play, and let the team fold, but they have pride, like all atheletes who have every played at Ottoville over the years, no matter sport it is. Some of these young ladies play 3 sports, maintain their studies and work part time. I guarantee you most of these young ladies go to college and will make a great impact on the world in the future.
Go Big Green Softball, I am proud of you all the way from CA, KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB..........
