If I were Randy Lerner, I would use my money to build a huge bulldozer so I could push the entire city of Cleveland into Lake Erie and do my good deed for mankind. wedgie.gif I would then put up a huge statue of Art Modell where the city used to be. clap.gif

If I were Randy Lerner I would be watching tonites game and the Baltimore Ravens, you know the team that used to be the Browns when they were sometimes good.

If I were Randy Lerner I would be asking myself how come the Ravens can hire a coach with no experience as a head coach or coordinator and be 8-4 at this point in the season.

If I were Randy Lerner I would be asking myself why DA sucks but Joe Flacco....yes Joe Flacco a rookie from Delaware is successful.

If I were Randy Lerner I would ask why the Ravens can run the ball and play defense with whomever they put in the game.

If I were Randy Lerner, I would fire Romeo tonight. Three games and seven field goals and another ass whipping. Everyone has quit playing for the most part except josh cribbs and dquell jackson.

Oh yea, If I were Randy Lerner I would also fire the Ravens reject Phil Savage as well. Watch the Ravens tonite and see what our football organization used to be like.

Watching the Browns game last night.....I had this Beatles song running through my head.....

I am the Walrus

Maybe because they showed Reid and Crennel so much???

The team was so emotionless that it was contagious....I think I was unconcious for a while.....

If I were Randy Lerner.....I would pray we beat the bengals next week, (no chance) and I would pray the bengals dont win out and we lose out. Yes then the Browns of course would have the worst record in the division and be worse than the sorry bengals.

If I were Randy Lerner.....once again just look at the Ravens and Falcons...rookie QB's and head coaches.

If I were Randy Lerner......hmmmm, we just got shutout at home by our in state rival and their 2nd string QB on a team that has the most injuries in the NFL. If I were Randy Lerner I would now realize that my team is by far the worst in the NFL though not by record but by effort. If I were Randy Lerner I know that my team is a mirror image of my head coach. If I were Randy Lerner I would now know that if we played the Lions next Sunday, they should be a probibitive favorite home or away. If I were Randy Lerner, I would shudder at the thought of playing in Pittsburgh next week against a team that got it handed to them by the Titans. If I were Randy Lerner I would fire everyone associated with the Cleveland Browns except Josh Cribbs and call the Steelers and cancel.

I know at this point that no one is likely reading my posts but I feel compelled to keep writing. From ProFootballWeekly.com comes this tidbit......

We got a tip this morning from a reader about a possible recent altercation in Cleveland. And so we started contacting some of our sources, and the current indication is that something indeed happened.

One source said that the rumor in the locker room is that one player hit another player with a weight, and that the player who was on the receiving end of said weight might have been quarterback Brady Quinn.

We’re trying to track down more information. And, of course, now that the cat is out of the proverbial bag, others will be doing the same.

According to Bruce Drennen on tonites episode of the Drennen Report, the offender was DT Shawn Smith who was made inactive for todays game. Quinn was also not on the team sideline.

What a mess, that again lays at the feet of the coaching staff, GM and owner.

From the land of "things can get better, really" (Atlanta), it can happen.

With parity being king in the NFL, when a franchise loses consistently over the course of many years it is the fault of management. Two years, tops, is the longest a team should go between winning or .500 records.

Salary caps and non-guaranteed contracts don't hamstring teams for the long term like baseball or basketball. Scheduling based on the previous year's record helps as well.

I always believe the fault starts with the owner. They hire management and coaches. Hire Cowher as a consultant if he doesn't want to coach. Or, at least someone like him as a consultant. LISTEN to him.

The worst thing about rich people (I've known a few and wish I could have this problem) is their belief that money equates intelligence. "Because I know how to run business A, I can run a sports franchise" seems to be mantra of too many owners.

The good ones like Blank in Atlanta or Henry of the Red Sox handle the real business and marketing ends and let the experts do their thing.

I agree with everything both of you say. I do not believe that Bill Cowher will coach the Browns. We do need a big name coach with head coaching experience. My Christmas wish and it is a wish would be Jon Gruden. Could Mike Holmgren be talked into it? Likely will be Brian Billick or the next hot shot coordinator, I hope not.

As I sit here listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" on my Ipod and wondering why I don't use drugs, my thoughts turn to Preseason Football and recalling we lost to the Lions.

I hope I get a pony this year for Christmas.

The first shoe has dropped....Phil Savage is out as GM of the Browns. Romeo is certainly next, likely by tommorrow. While like most Browns fans, I am happy for many reasons, but I feel somewhat sorry for Romeo as he was in over his head from day one.

I don't know who the next coach will be but I continue to doubt Bill Cowher will take the job. I have wished in the past that we could get someone like Jon Gruden and with the Bucs losing their last four games and missing the playoffs after such a great start, could it be possible that he may become available? I believe that Brian Billick will likely be the next coach though I base that on nothing.

We get the fifth pick in next years draft and we have so many needs. I like the LB Malemuga from USC, but I could see us taking a RB like Chris Wells or a DB like Malcom Jenkins. I obviously believe we need to go defense as the offense has the players and the line just needs coached up. The whole team simply lacks discipline and needs a plan, not the haphazard coaching and playcallng we have seen in the past.

Like so many times in the past, I go into the off season with high hopes yet low expectations and I can only look at teams like the Dolphins who went from last to first or the Ravens or Falcons and I know it can be done, but it is done with leadership, something the Browns have not had in many years.

As expected, ProFootballWeekly is reporting that Romeo Crennel has been fired. They also are reporting that team owner Randy Lerner has met with Bill Cowher and Cowher told him that he was not interested in coaching in 2009.

Also reported is that the Browns may be interested in also fired Jets coach Eric Mangini. Yikes!

Interesting fact.... Of the twelve teams to make the playoffs this year, seven did not make the playoffs last year and of those seven teams, four of them came in last place in their division last year. NFL parity at its best. What is most important is for the owner, ie. Randy Lerner to make a insightful hire of the person most capible of making the Browns one of those teams next year.

This person can be a coordinator without headcoaching experience....see the Falcons Mike Smith or the Ravens John Harbaugh or even the 49ers Mike Singletary but this is often a crapshoot. Interestingly, Bill Parcells has come up as a possible hire for someone if the Dolphins are sold as anticipated. There is a clause in his contract that lets him out of it if the team is sold.

If Scott Pioli of the Patriots is hired as our new GM, he is the son in law of Parcells......interesting.

Gummy........Trust me...I have been reading your posts here..but it is really hard to type thru tears.....lol And now I have more tears reading where Cowher told Lerner NOT to add his name to possible coach list. Well if Bill is not our man.... and I definitely agree with you here Gumshoe, get Gruden. I really like this guys style and you cannot argue with his past sucess. Yes, he hit a little rough spot this year, but over all his teams play hard, stay focused and win more than not.

Well its been several days since we had an update on the Browns coaching and GM positions. I appears to me that Scott Pioli isn't really interested in the Browns and the Browns wouldn't be interested in Josh McDaniels as coach without Pioli. Truth be told, I was somewhat concerned about bringing in Pioli, if Kirk Ferentz was his first choice for head coach.

I think it will end up being Mangini as coach and the Ravens guy as GM.. Yep another Ravens guy as GM, not the right Ravens guy this time either as Ozzie is the only Ravens guy I would want after the last guy we had.

I would love to have Shanahan but he is holding out for the Cowboys or Chargers, otherwise he will do a Cowher and still out until a better team comes and gets him.....If not the cowboys this year than next year for sure.

I hope the Browns get someone with some sense and we trade some of our clowns for draftpicks.....ie Anderson, Winslow, Edwards, and most of our defense. As I have said before I would like to get Maluaga? from USC or Malcolm Jenkins from OSU. With the number five pick and having traded away alot of picks last year, we need to make these picks count.

Anymore, this seems to be the best time to talk about the Browns, once the season is over and before it starts.

Do you suppose those guys on the soccer site talking about ManU and transfer windows and such, have any idea what I'm talking about? I don't even know what I'm talking about.
