I don't see Elida anywhere being put as a powerhouse. I do believe the talk is of Wapak and Bath. If I read right it is Elida that is being slighted. I think that is good. Not sure if they should be talked of winning a titlle when they are a definitly a Tournament team.
The issue is Shawnee is being talked of being a top WBL Team. Many can't see how. One stud can't help you win the title.
My take is Wapak with a close race for 2nd.

1. Wapak
2. Elida
3. Celina
4. Bath
5/6. Van Wert / Defiance
7. Shawnee
8. St.Marys
9/10. OG / Kenton
Ummmm. This seems as if they're being built up to be quite the powerhouse. 6 WBL champs. I have to agree with 2fast saying that Elida doesn't do as well in the dual meets at the beginning of the seasons. They haven't in these past few seasons. Somebody just seems not to like Shawnee.

The following was my entire post. Please Don't take excerpts out. This was being a pretty good discussion. We don't need to turn this into one of those idiot threads.
As you can see not speaking just on Elida.
This all will turn greatly around once weights are set. Say what you want about the Dual aspect concerning Elida, I can't argue on that, but to have them 5th overall is so out of place. It is 2 fasts opinion though. I respect that.
There is no clear favorite right now. It is well balanced.
When I say many I do mean that. Look at some of the responses on what is being said and talk around. It is nothing personal towrds Shawnee. Why did you make it personal? It is a good discussion going on and you turn it into a personal attack. Please don't. Thes are all just opinions.
I hope for the WBL and area there is alot of unforeseen talent at Shawnee. It only helps everyone. Sanchez is who he is. Don't make him out to be a superior Coach. He hasn't even started yet. Unproven. There is nothing wrong with that. It is what it is.
Shawnee is young. Let me ask you this? Who does Shawnee have that will beat Wapak? Who do they have that will beat Elida? Who do they have that will beat Celina? Look at the kids in those weights and go from there.
I miss the sport very much.
2fast
1. Wapak may be the leading top candidate due to their showing at sectionals last year. They will fill the entire linup. They have 3 guys that can possibly win the Tournament with one being a for sure (ERB).
2. My opinion you have Bath to high. Hefner, Beemer and Meeks is all they really have that are strong. MGinnest is not so for sure. Weight class will have alot to determine on where they can place in the WBL.
3. My biggest concern on your list is Shawnee. How can you list them 3rd? They have Washam as the only true leading Wrestler. There are some good ones left but they have no one else that can be a leading candidate on their weght class. I'd love tohearamore precise inner look for me and many others toby into.
4. Celina has Dues. After Dues(Alex) who dothey have left that can trully make noise? Maybe basket. After that tell me who. Now for the Duals they can hurt you since they fill every class.
5. Elida 5th. You just gave the boys over at the orange and black Bulldogs some bulletin board material. They should be filling every weight and are strong with possible champs with Brunk, Troyer, Green and Whitcamp. Throw in the older Leis and a surprise(I think) at a lower weight and you may have a possible 6 wbl Champs.
6. Defiance is alot stronger than most think. They should fill all weights and 2 possible qualifiers if not placers. I don't think they can win it but they will surprisemany.
7. Van Wert is another that is to low probably. Yet someone has to be. They return Massillo that will battle for the title and Custer who may finish 2nd. Noggle i am not sure to sold on but can't underestimate.
8. St. Marys I think you have correct. You have Lauth and Neal. Lauth will depend on where in weight. Neal is your WBL HWT Champ.
9/10 Kenton and OG. Self explanatory. Not football or basketball.
With all this said how can you see a clear favorite?
1. Wapak
2. Elida
3. Celina
4. Bath
5/6. Van Wert / Defiance
7. Shawnee
8. St.Marys
9/10. OG / Kenton

I have re read what I wrote and don't see what is being said by slice/sw/dc ....sorry.
I agree with some sentiments on Elida.
I just don't get the whole Bath and Shawnee talk? I see more of Bath than Shawnee at top. That is nothing to do with hatred or anything. It is honesty and common sense. Bath brings 2 SQ's. They bring a top Freshman into the line up. They have Mcginnis who has the potential. After that they have hopes.
Lets put a side by side line up? Not one person can do that from Shawnee. The talk was of greatness when they won the County, what happened. They were predicted to win WBL tourny, what happened? There is a great future with Sanchez's energy coming in fom what I hear. Right now the talent isn't there...oh wait that means I am a Shawnee hater. Name one other person besides Washam that can win a title or betteryet make it to state? That is not being a Shawnee hater.
Slice I expect more out of you to be honest

Who are wrestlers and follow it that are posting, honestly? Look at past results and see who is returning?
This is a great sport and I miss it. I would never and will never downgarde anyone or any team.

I love how I am all over someone about their opinion when all I did was give my feedback yet when others do it it is just their opinion.
It is ok. If that is the perception. I was not all over them. I thought this is for discusion and talk?
Was I or am I wrong?

PIN175is close to the same perspective, just different words.
I do believe others have said challenging statements, but thanks for explaining. Truth is truth as reality also, Sanchez is not battle tested, I also said he is good for the WBL. It is the truth to say Shawnee is overrated, that is my perspective, not degrading but when being talked of in the way some are when only having one stud that is what it is, overrated. I should have maybe used a different wording besides not that good, I agree. That was wrong.
Thanks for the constructive criticism.

Now darkrider your beginning to make me wonder if you know who shawnee even has. If you don't know, there is no way you could possibly make an assessment of how good or bad Shawnee will be. You also couldn't say that, "Right now the talent isn't there,"

Slice / DC / SWTS / defense and whoever
My name is darkrider. I am not from Elida I did not graduate from there but have a Wrestling background. I am a 2X Stateplacer as well as a Collegiant Football player that could have wrestled for many D1 programs. Football was and is my true passion followed for a love of a great sport of wrestling. My son was partof the Elida Youth program for 2 years. Watched the team at every home match and went to Bath and Shawnee for a couple Duals the last couple years. My son loves Hunlockand Wittkamp and loved watching them.
We are not at Elida anymore. I am fortunate to talk with many people affiliated at different schools. I know a couple of the Referees in town and NW Ohio.
I am in no way trying to put anyone or any program down, I do mean that. I apologize if any of it was taken that way. I do mean that. Being from this sport I know what it takes to survive and accomplish your goals. I should not have used the words I did and again I apologize.
I do know the Elida program a little better being implanted there for 2 almost 3 years. I watched Wittkamp and Hunlock work with the youth for 2 years. I have talked with Coach Wittkamp at Elida on many occasions along with Bowers and am impressed with their take on the area wrestlers and programs. I have talked with Coach Westerback and Sanchez on a couple occasions and they are the real deal, both as wrestlers and one as a Coach. I do hope to see Sanchez makeit as a Coach specially with his background. I speak with Coach / AD Murphy often.
One thing all these individuals seem to have in common is they know what they are talking of and their hearts seem to be there for the kids. In the Sport of wrestling having a Coach that is in it for the kids is crucial in my opinion.
So, please when I make my comments / assesments I do not have it out for any team or kid and will try to word it better in the future there is no agenda. I like having discussions on the sport of wrestling and Football.
If you take me condensing or disrespectful it isn't ment that way. I have read many posts here and can say the same back but I remember it is just a discussion.

Washam, croft boys, schofield are capable of doing well this season. Assuming all work hard and want it. Also Mcdermitt is a promising new comer and could definitely turn some heads this year.
